Our project aims at developping a self-resilient place in the middle of the Pyrenees mountain chain (South France) and practicing Ecology on a daily basis.

Here we learn, share, aware, respect, accompany, shape and communicate on a very simple basis : "Minimize your impact on this planet and maximise general happiness". This is one of the reason the place is vegan.

If you want to share (or already share) this vision, you are more than welcome!

Our work consist in :

1/ Restauring an old house, partly troglodyte (carpentery, alternative way of energy production...) to create a "workshop area", where we could finaly host events, classes, debates to approach the world differently than the main-capitalistic-stream...;

2/ Regenerating the soil together with providing food to the residents : we base our work on permanent agro-forestry cycles (I am not talking of permaculture but it is); Oïkos land is only 0.15ha, thereby we are "experimenting" in order to feed max 5 people.... more inside

Helpers needed from April onwards. We'd really welcome a couple or friends to come and help us out with the ongoing renovations and garden clearance and creation.

All our volunteers have made a truly memorable difference to our lives - making raised beds for the veggies, constructing huge wooden steps in our sloping garden, painting furniture and walls, shifting rocks, weeding, and everyone has cooked us a fantastic meal (even those who have always survived on McDos or Subs!!). For that we can't thank them enough, so please consider us when choosing your next trip. We live in the beautiful and very rural Charente-Limousin region of France...40 minutes west of Limoges. Come for a week or so and help us make a difference...

We are Helen and Phil (middle aged but very active). We live in a fabulous peaceful and very rural part of France near a huge lake with swimming, canoeing, fishing, cycle and walking routes along the lanes close by, and medieval towns and villages. A region... more inside

I live on a farm, alone or with my girlfriend, who lives in Angers.
There's many different activities. The cheesery : I make goat cheese, that's my business. I sell it in Paris, in restaurants. You're not allowed to help in the cheesery for sanitary reasons, but you can eat cheese !
I still have 12 horses (I had 30 when I ran a horse school). They live on the 40 ha of the farm. You can ride with people once a week, only if you have skills.
Besides the horses I have many chicken, a car Marius, two dogs Lily and Balou. My dogs need attention when I leave.
There's the garden too, a lot smaller as it was, but there's still a lot to do.
My house is big. You'll have a room and a bathroom.
Internet is only in a leaving room, quite slow. No coverage for mobile phone.
I prefer one month minimum , to have the time to know more the persons and also to be independant to do the things.
I need help in the garden, with the fences, to chop wood for the fire, to feed the animals.
I like co... more inside

I run two gites in the lot and garonne and during the start and finish of the season I also run art and pilates/wellbeing courses. I am looking for help primarily with the hospitality side of these courses, running end of April to end of May (happy for someone to come for one week, two or more) and again in September. The work would involve assisting me in the preparing and serving of meals primarily and there would also be opportunities to enjoy an art or yoga class or two!

You would live in my converted barn - ideally suited to two people travelling together so that you can make the most of your down time - I have a great salt water pool with lovely terrace perfectly placed to take in the views - there are bikes to borrow and lots of walking and cycling routes nearby.

We are 4k from a small village with a friendly golf club, shop, boulangerie, etc

Possibility of also visiting in July - work then would be more maintenance/gardening.

WE OFFER: We live close to the ocean, in a nice and huge forest and close to Bordeaux (50km), a world heritage Unesco city. We have a swimming pool and there is a big one in our village. Here you can practice all the aquatic sports and a lot of others in the nature.
For an average of 4 hours helping per day, you'll stay in a private room and share our family life and homemade meals. We are flexitarian and eat very little meat, not even once a week, but a lot of different organics vegetables, cheeses and fruits.I cook a lot.
We live in a village where you can find almost whatever you need (we don't need so much). We have bikes and I can lend you my car sometimes (often) if you have a driving licence available in France.
I'm a kundalini yoga teacher and you are invited to practice with my students. My husband works downtown. He is a good guitar player and we have a music room with many musical instruments. We both speak english, a little of spanish and I speak portuguese.

I live on the edge of a small mountain village- a large garden, bound by a small fast flowing with the forest all around- very pretty here and elemental. Looking for some help in April 2-4 weeks with the garden, just making a new veg garden, also some household repair jobs- the roof needs a bit of sorting out and I want to paint the outside of the house- actually the list goes on. Would really suit someone who wants a break from the city to enjoy the wonders of spring here and some peace

We are a New Zealand/French couple managing a large forest and would love to host anyone (or two, couples are great!) with enthusiasm to help get things done around the homestead. We can usually find something to suit most people's skills/interests.

There's lots of adventures to be had in the forest on the estate. Go for a dip in the lake, head in the forest to gather mushrooms or observe wildlife: deers, stags, wild pigs, foxes. We live in a very sunny part of France, and never cease to enjoy it.

Do you wish to experience life in the French countryside, from the comforts of a large, rustic and beautiful eighteenth century home?

Our lucky HelpXers get a comfy double bedroom with an ensuite shower, with spectacular views onto the fields around the house. There are bikes to borrow so you can explore the small roads through the forest and get around the surrounding villages.

We love to share our place with other kind and generous people. We usually request that our HelpX... more inside

We'd like to offer accommodation in exchange for improving our spoken French along with cleaning, gardening, ironing and cooking etc. We also have a holiday studio rental and help with changeovers would be appreciated.
We are based on the outskirts of a small French market town, with easy access to good walking. If you would like to improve your English, whilst experiencing a French way of life this could be ideal. We are a couple with 3 dogs living between the town centre and countryside.

We have decided to try and speed up renovation work on our semi-ruined farmhouse property in a small hamlet close to Albi and Gaillac (Tarn). The pool is in, so is a big kitchen and dining room, bedroom, office, shower room and bathroom - the essentials! But there is still a lot to do and we are not getting any younger... We need help with stonework – in particular we have a project to build a low stone wall along the back of the pool (see picture) and point the existing stonework on one of the pinion walls (about 20m2) we would also like to finish building up the stone cladding on the back wall (see photo). The paving around the pool is set in sand rather than concrete and this year we need to re-seat them as quite a few have moved... they weigh 20 kilos a piece so this involves heavy lifting! The list is long and of course we can’t expect to get it all done this year – the final list of jobs would depend on the skills you have. We also need to get on with some of the inside work (... more inside
