We have a 400 year old stone cottage with an acre and a half of land in the wild Mayo countryside. Uncultivated and uninhabited since the mid 1990s we are starting to bring her back to life using permaculture design and principles at the fore, and we need all the help we can get!

Help is needed between now and the end of June 2016 and the tasks will include lime pointing and plastering, fitting sheeps wool insulation, putting up ceilings, basic plumbing and carpentry, building a chicken coop and wood store out of reclaimed and scrap materials. There are also things to be done outside: weeding, planting, laying paths and drainage, harvesting and chopping wood, building a yurt platform and making a wood fired outdoor bath. Hard work, maybe in the rain!

We are in the far north of the beautiful County of Donegal, and are looking for some extra help about the house for the month of May. It is a hill farm overlooking Lough Foyle, where we have a very relaxed and happy life! We have a Farm shop in the nearby town of Moville where you might be asked to help out. We have been taking wwoofers for over 11 years, but due to increased work load need help with other jobs as well as outside with livestock and vegetables. Anyone who loves doing a bit of cleaning would be more welcome than you can imagine! We have very friendly cats and dogs, no neighbours. The nearest pub is a 40 minute walk down the hill, but well worth it. Inishowen people are amazingly friendly and welcoming to strangers. Your accommodation will be either in a stone cabin, wooden chalet, or in the warmer months, a caravan ... all have heaters. We eat our evening meals together, I (Jo) do the cooking, so there is always plenty to eat.

We are a wildlife park and pet farm which has a huge variety of animals. We are fairly new and would like help getting the animals ready for tourists. We need help with all sorts of tasks such as feeding, mucking out, fencing, repairs also moving stock. We have a reptile house and offer guided tours to our customers with the opportunity to handle many of the animals. We also have horses and offer pony rides to those that wish. We also breed poultry. We have a poly tunnel and garden area where we grow lots of our own food and food for the animals.

This time of year we are painting and doing repair jobs also building new areas for the animals. We are looking for people that can use there own initiative as we may have to leave the farm to pick up new animals.

We offer a nice, comfortable room in our home with your dinner cooked for you. We have excellent views and live in a quiet, rural village with only a few houses nearby. We are 4km from the nearest town, there are 2 bikes tha... more inside
