Hello!, our names are Maria and Miguel, Spanish.

We have six years of experience in self-sufficient life and away from money in Spain and now we have moved to Costa Rica because the weather can help us complete the production of fruit, drink our own water and generate our own electricity.

Right now there is no house, we are under construction, planting fruit trees, preparing the organic garden, the chicken coop, the water, the fountain, the electricity system, and building our wooden house. For this we have built a shelter where we have our kitchen, hammocks to rest and tents to sleep.

Do you want to help us?

We have no economic interest, we do not pretend to generate money with the self-sufficient farm, we only intend to live in fullness, nature, harmony, coherence and tranquility.

We can teach you everything we have learned about it. Yes, you can live without money, in a self-sufficient way, we have checked it and we can teach it, although here, as we are in the beg... more inside

So, San Jose is not the most exciting place in Costa Rica, but perhaps you have things to do or someone to see in San Jose. Perhaps you need to take care of some dental work, learn Spanish or work remotely.

I am looking for someone to help keep my small 2 room Airbnb afloat while I do some traveling. I am looking for a minimum stay of 4 weeks with at least 3 days training.

I am renting only two rooms to travelers in my apartment and don’t want to close the calendar as I already have a few reservations while I am away. In addition I need you to take care of my two dogs and 1 cat and keep them company while I am gone.

Responsibilities are:
receiving guests, give out information, prepare breakfast, get the rooms ready for new guests, laundry, general housecleaning. Daily walk of approx 30 minutes with the dogs in the evenings. Some shopping for fresh fruits etc, preferably on the farmer’s market or downtown San Jose.

We are working to build a sustainable small farm. Goal is to become a model for future agriculture. We have been working on growing a food jungle. Also with raised bed garden. A large aquaponics system with Tilapia. A food processing facility to help market some of our value added products. Roasting coffee and a solar dehydrator to process some of our products. Many other projects looking towards sustainability. Animals like chickens, pigs, sheep and ducks. My goal is to see all the systems interact and cooperate with each other. While providing habitat for wildlife, and improving the soil. Generally providing food while making the world a nicer place. We will provide accommodations and food, in exchange for hard working volunteers. 30 hours work per week.
