This is a beautiful lifestyle block and only 25 minutes from Auckland CBD. We have sheep and horses, and a cat named Snowy. Our children have now left home and we need some help in planting out 3 acres of native bush in the valley's of our property. There is also light farm duties such as spreading mulch, chainsawing, pruning, splitting firewood, gardening, cleaning spoutings (guttering) housework and cleaning. Able to drive a quad bike or drive a ride-on mower would be an advantage.

We have two spare bedrooms, separate bathroom in a large family home with a swimming pool and pool table. Free Wifi available. If you like horses, there is also a chance to ride. We also have bicycles available. Staying with us, you will be part of the family.

The nearest bus route is about 3km away but we could help out with transport when required.

Helpers have their own self contained cottage with all facilities. Helpers can either share meals with hosts or cook for themselves in the cottage.

About us:

I live on a small 5 acre lifestyle block, 48 km South of Auckland CBD, that is also home to one horse, a small dog, cat, a couple of free-range hens and a rooster!

Helpers are welcome for short stays of approximately ONE WEEK, and mature, practical-minded people with a few years life experience are preferred. None of the jobs are difficult but do require a reasonable level of fitness and you need to be able to work independently. Non-smokers only please.

Some amazing helpx helpers have helped establish the kitchen gardens and some help is now needed on general gardens and landscaping. Depending on the time of the year, some of the tasks you may be asked to help with are: lawn mowing, planting trees, weeding and mulching garden beds, grubbing thistles, paddock weeds and brush-cutting (strimming/weed-eating).

You will have a very comfortable room with your own bathroom in exchange for 4 hours work per person each day, however I can be flexible with this, for ... more inside

We require help in the gardens/paddocks for a week or two,in March. Mostly weeding, pruning, planting some trees, cleaning the swimming pool and some housework. Experience with garden tools (lawn mower) useful, and experience with a chainsaw/scrub cutter is useful but is not essential. Sorry, we don't have time to teach, so experience in at least some of these areas is necessary. It's important you can distinguish a plant from a weed, as much of the work is hand-weeding around the flower gardens. There may also be some housework, like helping in the kitchen, cleaning and dusting/vacuuming/polishing if weather is too bad for gardening.
Apart from the work there are plenty of local activities and amenities like surf beaches, vineyards, bush walks, trail bike riding, etc:
We are in a country area (vineyards, orchards, market gardens) with well-equipped village nearby but only 20 mins drive from Auckland city, the East Coast (safe, sandy) and West Coast (wild, surfing) bea... more inside

This is a centre for well being, creativity and earth based spirituality set on beautiful land with direct expansive views of sky, bush and sea. It is a place where people can come to experience their connection with themselves, one another and Nature.I am developing it as a venue for house concerts and outdoor music and dance events, informal music sessions with friends and visitors, sound healing and communal celebration of the cycles of Nature.
Help is needed with establishing and maintaining gardens and orchards, clearing weeds, sawing firewood, maintenance and construction work, housework and cooking . I am presently trialling different methods of combating the disease which is devastating the kauri trees and particularly welcome those who would like to help with this important work

In exchange for 24 hours of focused work a week I offer comfortable accommodation, delicious and wholesome vegetarian meals and the opportunity to enter into experiences that may prove life ... more inside
