I have a beef farm about 20 minutes drive out of Kaikohe or 50 minutes to Kerikeri, the Bay of Islands or Whangarei. It is one of the larger properties listed on helpx. Ideally I would like someone who can help with a variety of tasks; ranging from cleaning windows, housework, perhaps lawnmowing, picking up branches and cutting up small logs, with the chainsaw, in an ex forestry block I am converting back into grass or fencing (depending on the applicants skill level). Couples or 2 friends are welcome. Very flexible work hours. Normally, 4 hours work for bed & all meals. If it suits someone to work extra hours so they can take a complete day off to go sightseeing in the area, that is no problem. I prefer meat eaters as that works in well with my meals. Also someone easy going, willing to learn and flexible. Accommodation is a large, private, comfortable bedroom, queen sized bed and ensuite bathroom. As I am out of town you need your own transport. Non smokers only please.

Hi

We recently moved and downsized and need help with a neglected garden and general maintenance (pruning, weeding, painting....). We are based just off SH1 (the main north south route) about 5 mins from Waipapa/10 mins from Kerikeri. Fluent German and enough French for basics.

We have a two dogs and a small orchard.

Double bedroom with bathroom or a caravan. Wi fi and shared Sky TV. Shared meals (but if vegetarian cook your own). Your own transport would be ideal, but we can provide lifts to most places.

See you soon

Our names are Rick and Lindy , and we are a couple in our 50`s and 60`s living on a 125 acre lifestyle block in the Hokianga, where we raise a small herd of Scottish Highland Cattle.

We are passionate about preserving our environment and have placed a large portion of our bush-clad property under a QE2 Trust covenant.
We are not organic but we do try to use sprays and other chemicals as little as possible.

We aim to be as self-sufficient as we can for fruit and vegetables and have established large vegetable gardens and an orchard. We used to milk a cow and produce our own butter and cheese, but our cow has died and we have no replacement yet. We are not vegetarian, nor do we eat totally organic produce (other than what we produce ourselves).
We eat mainly beef as we grow this ourselves. We like to eat altogether with any helpers, so if you have any special dietary requirements (e.g. no dairy, etc) PLEASE let us know in advance so we can tell you whether we can cater to you... more inside

We are a family of five living on a communally shared block of regenerating bush land in the Northern Coromandel. We live near wild pristine beaches and have clean streams and waterfalls within walking distance of our home. We are building our dwelling from local timber, earth and stone and have ongoing building projects to help with. We grow organic veges if you are into gardening, planting trees or playing football with the children so we can work on the property!
We strive to be resilient as a community, living off grid - looking after our own watersupplies, solar power, composting toilets etc. Summers are busy here, winter pretty quiet with potluck dinners and potholing the 3km gravel driveway our main communal activity!

We're a young couple living and working on an alternative lifestyle block. Lower section includes an old vintage machinery museum.
House and workshops are built around native kiwi reserve, with local cycle trail and fishing spots located next door. Nice quiet area off state highway 11 with calming views of Opua Harbour.
Five minute drive to Paihia which is central for booking tours, sight seeing opportunities and water activities. We can do pick ups from Kawakawa or Paihia bus stops.
We require general maintenance including: clean up of old museum, organising and relocating equipment establishing bush tracks, gardening, general tidying and upkeep of farm and home that is in dire need of a clean up!
We have two twin rooms, a sleep out and an annoying old man who we’re constantly cleaning up after haha
