My house [small solar power station] is less than 100 metres from the sandy beach shown in the photograph below, stretching 7km up to the Daintree River mouth. Wonga Beach is a small community located between rainforest covered hills and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

The nearby Daintree rainforest is one of the oldest tropical rain forests in the world and home to the amazing cassowary. The Daintree River great for seeing crocodiles at this time of year and I would be happy to ensure you make a trip to see them on one of the best crocodile/wildlife tour boats.

Wonga Beach is about 90 km north of Cairns, 30 km north of Port Douglas and about 50 km south of Cape Tribulation.

If you do not have a car the cheapest way for you to get here is the "Transnorth" bus service leaving Cairns Central at 7 a.m. (near Platform 1, approach via Bunda Street) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Book on line selecting the coastal route to Cooktown. There are also shuttle buses from Ca... more inside

A gorgeous beach is at the bottom of the street - there are gorgeous beaches everywhere in fact & the accommodation is air conditioned. You can bushwalk with sensational sea & mountain views; see wild koalas & dive the reef.

I owned my own cafe (there were stories about how good my food is in two newspapers, one magazine and on TV) and worked as a chef, so guests love my food. Herbs, tropical fruit trees, cherry tomatoes and other veggies grow in the backyard.

I'm looking for can-do people to help with maintenance, cleaning and gardening. Most important is the ability to finish tasks following basic rules in hygiene & to work unsupervised (after I show you where & how things are done).

The people who are happiest here are high achievers who strive for excellence - that's what it took for me to have this place & so I get on very well with this personality type. Low achievers are a bad fit, so please do not apply if this is you.

Three weeks or more is a fair exchange of... more inside

Hello helpers we are a small dairy farm. So love animals. Have four cats two dogs. Poddy calves heifers and of course the milking cows. So if you would like a different experience. Love help around the house and yards. Can and are happy to show you the dairy. If you are looking for work for the 88 days we do have farms in the area and can try to help.

We are situated between Bundaberg and Agnes Water/1770 just of the Agnes Waters/1770 road.

We both enjoy the company and appreciate the extra work that can be done with an extra hand or two from time to time. Stan and I have hosted many backpackers from various parts of the world and helped many volunteers before the changes (2015) backpackers achieve their second year visa. We can sign off but must be experienced worker or very quick to learn.

This zoo is located on the edge of the Daintree National Park, 25km north of Mossman and 5km south of the turnoff to Cape Tribulation. Wonga Beach is about a 35min walk and Mossman is about a 15min drive (we drive into town each morning for anyone wishing to venture in).

The Zoo is set in 4.5 hectares (10 acres) of tropical gardens and comprises several guest BandB style accommodation rooms (including a large pool) and some 120 species of Australian native birds, mammals and reptiles including crocodiles, kangaroos, cassowaries, emus, dingos and wombat to name a few.

Volunteers typically assist with daily feeding of animals and birds, cleaning enclosures, gardening, painting, light construction work and at times, assisting with the preparation of the accommodation rooms. We also have a farm 250 klms west of here, and some time we go out there for a couple of days,to help with other building projects.
