Hello 2018/9 volunteers! We welcome applications for Oct 2018 onwards till about October 2019. However if you need a week in the winter it is still worth asking -we may be able to help. It would be all winter jobs (logging, pruning, tidying etc) then and may get rained off but if that's OK then do contact us.

Hi from a relaxed, friendly nearly-retired couple who love to 'host' and welcome our volunteers as if they were family. We are a 1 hectare smallholding with sheep, poultry, pigs (in summer), an out of control vegetable garden and plenty of 'wild' bits, in NW Roscommon. You are welcome to try some (fully supervised) livestock tasks at the appropriate times of year (moving stock, dealing with families of baby chicks, sheep shearing and foot trimming etc). We try to give guests a mix of jobs and nothing too awful! You will get mowing and tidying but also, if we can, jobs for which you have stated a preference. Recent volunteers asked for 'wood-work' - we had plenty.

Our ho... more inside

*** NEWS UPDATE: WE CURRENTLY HAVE NEED OF PEOPLE WHO ARE GOOD AT OUTDOOR WORK - BUILDING, CARPENTRY, GARDENING ETC. 2 PEOPLE NEEDED NOW FOR AONE OR TWO MONTHS - BUT YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO USE TOOLS!! THANKS. ***

Since 2012, hundreds of wonderful people from all over the world have volunteered with us. We are very grateful for all they do. Some come for two weeks; most come for two or three months and some stay for a year! Others come back for a second, third or even fourth visit. It`s best if people come for at least 2 months. This gives time to settle in and experience a lot more.

We live in a small, traditional west of Ireland village which has a theatre, sculpture centre, nice pubs and lots of sports clubs. There are lots of hill walks and outdoor activities nearby and we are a 30 minute drive from the Atlantic Ocean. Nearby are three larger towns with public transport (train or bus) to Dublin, Belfast, Londond... more inside

This is a 52-bed hostel right beside Belfast's Botanic Garden. We're looking for outgoing, hardworking and friendly volunteers to help us create a backpackers haven in Belfast! In exchange for free accommodation in our 8 bed mixed dorm and free breakfast, we ask you to help us out in the hostel for 24 hours/week involved in various tasks such as breakfast preparation, housekeeping, reception duties and our favourite - running activities for guests like movie nights and pub-crawls. Other facilities we provide are free laundry service, free wifi throughout the building, free kitchen facilities to use.

Belfast is a great base to explore both Northern Ireland and Ireland. We urgently need house sitters for the middle of October to look after the animals and water some. It would suit a couple, perhaps.

Things are slowly coming together here at the Permaferry. We are creating a Fukuoka style natural farm and food forest, which actually means less work to do. However in spring there is a lot of preparation to do, building soil and getting ready for the growing season. We will scatter seed balls soon, mulching beds with seaweed, planting more trees and shrubs, building a beehive. The yurt will be put up again in March. We are planning to host a few courses both at our place and at other sites, so need preparation for those.
We also need a couple of periods during the spring and the autumn for a house sitter while we looks after our food forest in Italy.

We are located on the beautiful Ards peninsula south of Belfast, a mile from the Irish Sea and 3 miles from Lough Strangford. We are setting up a centre for permaculture with courses and e... more inside

We are a farm in the rural countryside in the West of Ireland.

We have a wide range of animals all of which we would like help with the care of them. We have 2 horses and 2 ponies that can be ridden by volunteers if they wish, the horses also need regular exercise. We have many types of poultry which we breed and sell at local fairs and agricultural shows.

We are looking for help from now and through the summer.

There is also gardening, and maintenance works needed doing.

We are looking for people that can help with the above and can use their own initiative at times and can work in a team with us.

We are a busy dairy farm. With cows, calves, dogs, cats and beef animals. We provide good comfortable accommodation, decent meals in exchange for help with milking and other light farmyard chores. Wifi provided. Our farm is based approx 6 miles from limerick city in the southwest of Ireland. Help needed is not intense but just an extra pair of hands is required.Painting, cutting wood.

With new calves being born on the farm at the moment help will be needed with feeding them with bottles and making sure they are kept warm.
We also have 3 small children to help to mind if farming is not for you.A car is provided for doing the school runs and your use for your travels if you are over 25 and have a clean license but driving not essential. My wife works shift work so some days kids are to be minded all day, other days just a few hours till my farming day is finished.

You would have your own small room and eat with us, we actually cook together. As you have seen on my site I run a small language teaching foreign students (age 18 - 60. There will be 2 teachers giving lessons in the mornings but it's great if you can chat to them and make sure they speak English all the time, especially evenings. This can be tiresome for some people as you need to speak slowly and understand there English is limited. You would work, probably alone, in the vegetable garden, weeding and watering (9.30. - 12.45) and 2 afternoons we will work with you (2.30-4.30). It is about 20 hours per week. We go to Bantry once a week shopping and on an excursion on Wednesday's, you would of course be included. Friday afternoon and weekends are free, there are bikes to borrow and I have rubber boots, old coats and clothes if you need them. We try to make it to an Irish music session Friday evening. Think that is about all. Students arrive on Sunday and leave on Saturday, which is ... more inside
