We're Colman and Eileen, and 3 young boys, Michael 7, Oscar 5, and Conall 3. We live on our farm in a very peaceful and beautiful part of the world in West Limerick called Glenquin. We have two glens, some ancient woodland, and a 15th century castle on the farm, with beautiful views across the county.
We are a traditional dairy farm and are in conversion to organic and possibly biodynamics, are learning to use a biological and microbiological focus on our grass based farm. In the near future we also hope to establish some agroforestry, fruit growing and cider making.
We also want to start developing our kitchen garden this spring and introducing small animals and a horse to our holding,so as you might guess a little help would be welcome.
We live in a recently restored 18th century farmhouse and have accomodation for 1 or a couple at present but hope to expand this to 2 in the next year or so.

We are living on a small holding in the South West of Ireland, close to the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’. After growing organic vegetables commercially for 30 years we are now enjoying a large private garden – and more time for our own projects. We would love to find a HelpXer who will stay for minimum 2 months (May to June or July 15th to September 15th) and who is willing:

- to help us to maintain garden and farm (from grass cutting to planting, weeding,
landscaping, fencing, chain saw work etc.)
- knows a trade or is an experienced DIYer (repairs on sheds, joinery, maintenance on
garden machinery, painting, - whatever needs to be done on a farm)
- has no ‘allergies’ against our 2 cats, few chicken and our German Shepard
- is able to work responsibly and sometimes independent
- is happy to take care of house and farm for a short period of time
- is interested to explore West Cork / Ireland in the spare time.

We offer a self contained apartment, free food, WIFI, ge... more inside

Helper wanted for a few weeks in June/July

We live in an 18th Century listed country house outside Maynooth, Co. Kildare, which we have been renovating over the last four years. We live at the end of a long avenue, but only a ten minute cycle to Maynooth which is a lively university town. There is a regular train service to Dublin and we are near many interesting historical sites. The house is also open to visitors on certain days during the year. We are a friendly family of 5, with 4 dogs, and 2 cats that need a lot of attention! We have a number of projects and tasks in the garden that need to be done over the next few months: clearing ivy from walls, planting and weeding flower beds, and putting in support systems for climbing plants. We also run B and B during the summer months and need help with cleaning etc.

This is an 18th century listed Georgian residence, set in tranquil parkland located on the Tipperary/Kilkenny border in the beautiful South East of Ireland.

We run a dairy farm of Friesian/Jersey cows in a spring calving, grass-based system where our cows live outdoors for most of the year. As well as cows and calves we have dogs, cats, a horse and a peacock. There is a lodge that is a gate lodge to here, which we run as a 4 star self-catering holiday home. We are only 20 minutes from Kilkenny city and only 10 minutes from the nearest town where you can get the bus to Dublin or Cork which make exciting day trips. The ancient medieval city of Kilkenny is today a thriving, modern capital that has protected its precious heritage whilst evolving as one of Ireland’s most vibrant and enjoyable cities. Its narrow slipways, side streets and preserved buildings, are matched only by its reputation for fine dining, great shopping, and entertainment.

Things are slowly coming together here at the Permaferry. We are creating a Fukuoka style natural farm and food forest, which actually means less work to do. However in spring there is a lot of preparation to do, building soil and getting ready for the growing season. We will scatter seed balls soon, mulching beds with seaweed, planting more trees and shrubs, building a beehive. The yurt will be put up again in March. We are planning to host a few courses both at our place and at other sites, so need preparation for those.
We also need a couple of periods during the spring and the autumn for a house sitter while we looks after our food forest in Italy.

We are located on the beautiful Ards peninsula south of Belfast, a mile from the Irish Sea and 3 miles from Lough Strangford. We are setting up a centre for permaculture with courses and events. There is plenty of scope for creativity in this relatively new project. If you have any previous experience or at least an inter... more inside
