We are an english couple who have been living in France for over twenty years, with our two sons aged 19 and 15. We run an organic vineyard producing red and (sometimes) rosé wines at the property. Most of the work we do is manual and we do need help from time to time, particularly at harvest time, which is usually mid to late September/early October.

We enjoy having people from different backgrounds and countries to stay with us here, adding new experiences for us and our children.

There is always stuff to do in the vegetable garden and around the house, and cooking etc. Guests are more than welcome to cook should they want to, as it makes a great (ex)change.
We also have a small flock of sheep which started as only 3 but is now eleven as we have found no acceptable means of limiting the numbers....

We can offer accommodation and meals to anybody who wants to come and help us, in exchange for 4 or 5 hours work a day, on average.

This beautiful, 2.5 hectare garden, set in the heart of Haute-Normandie Pays de Caux near the English Channel and whose light inspired the Impressionist movement, is called the Jardin d'art et d'essais and which can be loosely translated as an Arthouse garden.

This is not a run of the mill Help X destination. There is a real opportunity to learn and have a totally unique experience while staying in the 17th century Priory in the centre of the garden. Cécile Maitrot, the gardening artist or artistic gardener (she conforms to both), welcomes you to join her in this artistic gardening adventure.

Previous experience of gardening and some basic French are welcome but not essential as Cecile can get by in English, Spanish and German and will teach you all you need to know; the work, of course, changes with the seasons and can be a variety of brute force and delicate sensitivity but never forgetting that this is an artistic adventure and is open to the public. Help Xers are invited t... more inside

Description
-- Trip / Balade with pleasure-boat (11 x 3,3 M) from Rotterdam (Netherlands) to French in March and begin of april --

Hello, I'm traveling by inland river barge through Europe, especially France, Belgium and Holland. The barge is an original Dutch built peniche and made for the old French channels. I still transport cargo and I am the third generation of a shipper family from both sides of my parents. I live and work alone on the barge sometimes accompanied by my girlfriend.

There is a simple separate -little- room (see photo..)for guests in the front of the barge which is not suite. (no sanitation, but there is a chemical toilet and lavabo) Also a heating system, fridge/freezer and micro-wave.

The work to do depends on the person, maybe some cleaning, housekeeping work, shopping and cooking??? And serving the aperitif of the skipper of course at 18h00 exactly..LOL.

My intention is to make contact with other people and have an exchange of cultures.

Help needed for renovation work for a health center in the French Pyrenees.

Hi, we are a happy, joyfull family willing to share our hapiness to live in the hart of the Pyrenees to whom would like to help us to build our house, which will later on turn into a fasting centre completed with a holistic medicinal approach. People, families, children with big health projects or simply willing to feel lighter and happier, will be able to find new ressources here through fasting and a living foods. Our family goes on raw food some parts of the year. Those who, apart from working, want to be initiated to healthy and living foods are welcome! Energy and well being guaranteed!
Helpers will sleep in a just recently renovated barn next to the works, which is not completely renovated yet, but will be made cosy and comfortable, though basic and in 'camping mode'. We will have solar pannels to provide our needs, and sun will be shining on the still little snowy hill tops. We hope to meet you so... more inside

We have created an association here in the heart of the Normandy countryside at my home with the aim of sharing ideas and practices relating to permaculture, veganism and sustainable living. The work with friends and volunteers is currently coordinated by myself (an English woman with a background in plant based cooking, permaculture, organic gardening, teaching and ecoconstruction).

This year we will be rendering a rammed earth tyre retaining wall in the garden with earth, lime and mosaics, building rustic gates and applying lime renders to part of the old wattle and daub house. We will also be developing the food growing aspect of the project. We have created an edible/permaculture landscape consisting of a mandala garden, apple orchard and forest garden. We grow edible flowers, herbs and fruit and vegetables. I want to work on incorporating more green manures, edible perennais, living mulch and wild plants.

Vegan cooking is a big part of life here. We try to use p... more inside
