It is a nice starting permaculture family farm, with children, connected to the community and transition town initiative. we co-organize community events. It has a swimming pool, orchard, vegetable garden, chickens. We (and you can also) play ultimate frisbie and get together with friends. It is located 500m from the village and 15km away from the beach where I go surfing regularly. We also rent rooms for guests in the summer. We like calm nice people like ourselves ;) It is located also by a nice forest and grazing areas. We have wifi, bikes and lots of nice things to do:) In winter and when cold, volunteers stay in two rooms and in summer you can stay in the camping with tent but have the access to the house and are welcome and integrated as part of the house dynamic. Feel welcome!

We have 2 hostels, one in Cascais and another one in Carcavelos!

Cascais - it's a hostel located in the center of the villa of Cascais. You have a lot of bars, restaurants and local shops just around the corner. The beach is at 5 minutes walking. You can get to Lisbon in 30 minutes.

Carcavelos - this a surf hostel is located in front of Carcavelos beach, one of the most famous beach breaks in Lisbon. We have a big garden and a swimming pool with a BBQ area. You can get to Libon is 20 minutes.

We need someone to help us maintaining the hostel for 2 months at least :) We provide to the helpers a bed in a staff room (with 4 beds) and the breakfast.

Basically the volunteers will have to:

- help with general maintainence of house for the guests;
- Help with check-in and check-out our guests;
- help the guests with general questions;
- help us with garden.

We are living (family with one child, 15 years old) in a rural area in the middle of Portugal. We need somebody to help my wife in the house and to do garden work also. If you can teach our child by learning another language it will be fine also.
We eat vegan food with many fruits and vegetables. Our rest day is Saturday. This day we do not work.
The helper is invited to eat with us but there is an outside kitchen also.
Internet WIFI is available. Shower, bath room is available.
In June 2017 we had a very terrible fire in our region because of this we have much work for building up our garden and outside things.
We have three very nice dogs.
We have more then 100 fruit trees and we need help for that too.
If somebody is fit in permaculture we would be very happy.
Evelyn makes her first experience with recipes in row vegan. If somebody has experience in that it would be good also.
We would like to build up walls from stone for our lakes (100.000l and 25.000l) to make them... more inside

I'm Lucas, 29 years old, my parents are German, and I was born and raised on this little farm living all my life in Portugal.
Since I was little I learned a bit about farming and in my early twenties I started to get enthusiastic about permaculture. Since 2012 I'm living full-time on the farm (except for a year in 2014) doing some projects at our place and in other farms around us.
Rafa (27) is my girlfriend and she is living with me since 2012. She is an amazing cook and very talkative! She's always happy to share stories and knowledge about portuguese culture.
My sister Leonie (21) is living with us in part-time, since she's studying Biomedical Engineering at Coimbra's University.

The house has a garden right at the entrance, some other gardens around the house, and a 2000m2 land that we are taking care since April, where I'm creating hugelbeet and making some experiences to improve the soil.
We have a Eco-shower working with shredded branches that by decompossing produce... more inside

SPRING 2019 - Needing skilled & imaginative people for:
- building water tanks (with ciment blocks)
- electricity (solar pannels)
- carpentry (all sorts of different projects)
- mud building
- tile roofing

Hi everyone! My name is Cloe, I'm 33 years old and come from Belgium. French and english are both my mother tongues although I speek much better french because I haven't been practising my english alot. My portuguese is getting better from day to day.

I just bought a 2 ha land on the east side of Portugal, close to Fundao. In the long term I would like to build this land into a funky permaculture farm/campsite with different types of accommodations (tipis, yurts, caravans, tree houses,...) as there are plenty of hikes and cycling opportunities here. Everything is to do as I'm alone (with my 2 very friendly dogs) and it is only the very first stages of the project.

A river is boarding the land but unfortunately is dry in summer.
I have many olive trees on the land as... more inside

Hi there, thanks for choosing to read our entry :))
We live on a small farm (2.5 hectares) inland of Central Portugal, 30km from the Spanish border in a beautiful wild area. From our land you can see the mountain of Monsanto (Sacred Mountain).
We have 80 olive trees, 250 vines, various fruit trees and an ever-expanding vegetable garden.
We are restoring the land; planting trees and digging ponds and swales. We are working towards a food forest, self-sufficiency, and money-less living. Those are our ultimate goals!
Volunteers will be working on any of the land projects: digging garden beds, planting trees, watering the nursery, working in the veggie garden or helping us build because we are still in the process of creating structures.
We like to use natural methods of building and work with reclaimed materials as much as possible.
We are designing our property along the lines of permaculture principles. A friend recently called our life-style 'natural living'. We don't reall... more inside

We have recently found a beautiful new place to stay in the Algarve countryside and we would love some help to co-create some basic improvements in the living spaces and the gardens, to make it a beautiful healing retreat place where many people can benefit from, in the near future.

Our vision for this beautiful new spot is to create the energetic space to be able to feel your true self in the inter connectedness of life.

In the practical sense, we can use help, in this moment with :
1) Removing old constructions on the land
2) Clearing and re-creating a natural pool
3) Clearing the land and planting new life ( herbs / veggies / trees)
4) Creative endeavours for meditation spots and yoga / practice pergula

The most urgent job is the work with the constructions on the land and will be quite physical challenging and therefor is probably more a 'man's job'.

For your accommodation you will have a privately ~(shared) apartment with kitchen and bathroom included. The... more inside

Minimum time of stay: 18 days. working schedule: 5 hours per day, 2 free days in each 7 days.

Dear Volunteer:

Please read ALL THE PROFILE to be completely informed of what are the conditions of volunteering in Quinta da Bazágueda. Especialy, keep in mind the following:

Quinta da Bazágueda is a very ancient farm. It's a farm, in it's true meaning, not a house with a garden or little field with crops. Beeing an ancient farm, it has very basic acomodation. The houses are from the 16th century or older, so they are cold in winter, of course. If you come in a rainy day, as in all rainy days, the farm work must go on and some of the tasks cannot be delayed. Also keep in mind that it's not possibly to make a specific food for you if you have a very diferent diet from "most" people. We always have vegetable soop, so if you're vegetarian you're welcome to come, but if the rest of the team is having meat, with plain rice you can have soop with rice, but not a spec... more inside

After having been a helper (https://www.helpx.net/profile.asp?usercode=948164JM), I'm happy to be a host and welcome you in this beautiful region!

I am French and relocated to Portugal 2 years ago. I used to be a French teacher and occasionally work as a proofreader. Now the plan is to create, above habitation, a ceramic workshop, and also organise yoga retreats.
Basically it's a cork forest on a hill, very beautiful and with wonderful views. There are also olive trees, a stream (dry during summer) and new fruits trees. If you want to explore, lots of tracks.
The village is at a walkable distance, nearest beach a 15 min drive. When it's too windy to swim, it's always good for a sunset walk.

At the moment I am staying in a yurt, with lots of living arrangements to be done, as well as land maintenance. There is no power nor water (a spring downhill where we shower -see picture), or toilets. So no optimal conditions yet but people who like to be in nature would love it. And ... more inside
