I'm Lucas, 29 years old, my parents are German, and I was born and raised on this little farm living all my life in Portugal.
Since I was little I learned a bit about farming and in my early twenties I started to get enthusiastic about permaculture. Since 2012 I'm living full-time on the farm (except for a year in 2014) doing some projects at our place and in other farms around us.
Rafa (27) is my girlfriend and she is living with me since 2012. She is an amazing cook and very talkative! She's always happy to share stories and knowledge about portuguese culture.
My sister Leonie (21) is living with us in part-time, since she's studying Biomedical Engineering at Coimbra's University.

The house has a garden right at the entrance, some other gardens around the house, and a 2000m2 land that we are taking care since April, where I'm creating hugelbeet and making some experiences to improve the soil.
We have a Eco-shower working with shredded branches that by decompossing produce... more inside

Benefits include free accommodation, use of both the public and private kitchens, access to laundry facilities, bed linen & towels, and all the internet you can use!

By being a volunteer in our hostel your main role will be reception support. Especially during nights, to check in any late check ins and to keep an eye on the place until the receptionist arrives in the morning. We do always ask that the volunteers remain respectful, polite and tidy at all times when in the hostel.

On top of offering the opportunity to learn the 'behind the scenes' operations of a hostel, you will also be exposed to the use of portuguese language on a daily basis and the world of tourism in Lisbon. Our staff are multi-national so you will also be able to know other cultures first hand while building lasting relationships.

Of course ALL roles are in a relaxed atmosphere and we do NOT ask you to work lot's of hours or more than expected and it will in no way feel like a JOB! :)

Thanks for r... more inside

In a lovely place with old cork trees and spring water, we live with Alice my sweet daughter, Olmo the magicien (4 and 2 years old) and also Merlin and Tranquil (2 cats).
Coming from childhood dream we start a project on a terraced land, on the slope off a mountain. We are restoring a place to create a refuge in a very privileged place to care for people and especially children.
Sometimes the children need some attention or a babysit.

For october-november, we need help to finish the straw bale roulotte! Clay, lime and cladding...
Also anybody with knowledge about gardening would be very welcome If you want to learn and experience simple life on a mountainous a good place.

You will stay is the caravan or you can bring a tent if the caravan is unavailable, and can have access to the hot shower and kitchen. It´s basic but the kids love it...
Alice an Olmo (the kids) are waiting for you!

Ecology and sustainable living are at the heart of everything here at the CdC project. After many years preparing the infrastructure, our public activity centre is nearing completion. This will include a cafe and general purpose venue for exhibitions, education, entertainment and various clubs (sewing, motorbikes, language etc etc). Top of our search list would be a general manager and buildings/gardens maintenance person as well as someone to assist with the marketing of our activities. As we make the transition to commercial activities and begin to generate an income we will pay helpers accordingly. The minimum stay period is 4 weeks. There is no maximum stay.

Hello, I'm looking for a volunteer to pick my remaining carobs, help with gardening, general cleaning up of the land, and organising fire wood. Working for 3 hrs a day, in exchange for accommodation in a small 2 berth caravan and 2 meals a day, starting as soon as possible. (Approximately 3 weeks work).

We are located in the beautiful countryside in the Algarve, 20 mins drive to Alvor or Portimao, 25 mins to Lagos. There is a bus stop 5 mins walk away (own car would be an advantage).

Normally I do this myself, but I have a 7 month old baby, and I am now realising I was in a fantasy land, believing I might be able to do everything myself!!

Hej hej,

I live with nature in a beautiful valley in the Alentejo region of the quiet interior of Portugal.

I've been here for 10 years and things are getting some places now! ;)

In the early stages of making a straw bale round structure and could really do with a hand or two

Some knowledge and love towards a garden is another project that really would be lovely to get going...

Meditation, vegetarian, calmness, some mornings or days in silence,

Namaste,
Dominic

Ex academic artist, (and just to be clear about things), gay male. Wanting to build towards a combination of summer tourist accommodation and winter and special occasion artist residency. Currently converting a smaller house (grey house in image beside chapel house now white and yellow) as a temporary residence and beginning work on the larger house (with the Chapel) into private living accommodation. Have just built a platform for a two double bedroom tent with common area situated in a shady area above the new pool. This will be the helper accommodation. I have just put in two new double spring mattresses on frames. Would prefer single people. There are several ruins on the property which will be eventually converted into accommodation. Plenty of olive trees that make great oil...a variety of fruit and nut trees. The location is on the side hill beside a small village. I need help with most things. There is plenty to do both on land and small renovation tasks such as painting. It ... more inside
