Fixing up a historic four-bedroom house from 1912.
This is a live-in fixer-upper--i.e., it has all the basics (plumbing, electricity, doors, roof) in place, and I'm gradually fixing/restoring all aspects of it, including gut renovations of some sections, and cosmetic improvements all around. I'm occasionally renting one bedroom on airbnb. Need help painting, cleaning, stripping old paint with a heat gun, plastering, electrical, tiling/grouting...you name it, it's needed!

Also interested in establishing a raised-bed garden in back yard. While i have some gardening experience from my youth, I have never worked with raised beds, and would be glad for both physical assistance and advice in this regard.

If you're interested in such projects--and especially if you have any particular skills that could be applied here--I'd be glad to discuss further with you. Detroit is an amazing place--a vibrant city that's a once and future king among world cities!

A comfortable stay at a very nice apartment in Madison, Wisconsin. Close to a major university and at the heart of a beautiful state with unlimited possibilities for outdoor activities year round. If you are a French-speaking Helper traveling through the USA, you are welcome to stay at my house in exchange for teaching me French! I will help you learn and/or improve your English too! I expect the daily commitment (to help me take care of the apartment and help me learn French) to take no more than two hours daily.

I will also provide a bicycle for you to use. Madison is famous for its bike trails... you can go anywhere in Madison by riding on dedicated bike trails. As far as food, I will provide it if you would cook. Otherwise, you can eat outside on your own.

I am the fourth owner of a circa 1860 home on the remaining 2 acres of the original family farm. The house restoration is underway, there is a working full bath and a working kitchen, internet by hughsnet, a working washing machine, three unused bedrooms upstairs, or room for a travel trailer or campsite. My interest in sharing my belle is to clean up the chicken house, the livestock pens, and clean up the beautiful perenial beds all over the property. I have a bee hive and a bumble bee nest with no knowledge of how to care for them. I've never offered this before as I just took possession and am in the major projects planning stage. Stephen

Greetings!

We are looking for help on our farm. In exchange we will offer 2 meals a day, and hopefully some skill and knowledge.

Our passion is with perennials... fruit, berries, nuts, vines, medicinal herbs. But we also have a large veggie garden. We will soon have a flock of chickens as well, and plan on raising goats at some point in the near future.

Eran had a bad accident this spring, and is physically unable to do much of the planting, pruning, mulching, and other tasks he had planned on. Steph is the herbalist and primary veggie grower. Our daughter Linden is a year and a half, and is in training.

Together we have over a decade of farming experience, and would love to share our wisdom. Please get in touch if you are interested in joining us in this beautiful corner of the world, 3 miles from the protected sandy shores of Lake Michigan.

Blessings,

Eran, Steph, and Linden

Looking for an individual who is bilingual preferably in Spanish. In exchange for lessons.. about 2 hours a day. Also there is some light house work (that all in the house would be involved with such as kitchen duties after meals etc.) we would provide a private room and 3 meals. Free wifi, TV, radio and a shared bathroom. We can also exchange the lessons for helping with improving your English.

Speak only English and looking to be in the area? Well we also have some light duty maintenance items that you can help with. From painting, to our garden, landscaping, helping with the Chickens. We would be willing to exchange these duties for room/board and food.

We are an easy/relaxed house about 2 hours west of Chicago which we frequent about once a week. We are centrally located in Illinois about 20 minutes from one of the most beautiful parks in the state: Starved Rock. While we are relaxed we do have boys so there is always an energy in house. That compounded by ... more inside

Small town household with garden and projects. We have 2 semi-finished basement rooms available, with their own semi-finished bath. We have some loaner bikes, and good road and recreational biking. Also we're not far from Rochester, MN. We drive most days to Rochester and could easily ferry. We'd love to have some interesting people to talk to, and a bit of help around the house.

Some spring projects we'd like to ask some help for include:

*) putting in and caring for our small, 3+ bed garden
*) building a new swingset
*) getting junk out of basement and garage
*) landscaping
*) remodeling a bathroom
*) fixing a generator
*) wiring house to use generator

We are a small egalitarian community and organic farm established in June of 2003 and situated on 113 acres in the hills of Ozark County, MO. The terrain is rocky with several creeks and we enjoy four distinctly, beautiful seasons.

We raise dairy goats, egg chickens & ducks, geese, guineas, rabbits, cats, and various vegetables using local organic inputs and no-till design and hugelculture. We work to put the principles of Permaculture into daily practice, using clean energy resources and recycling our waste as best we can. We are stiving to minimize our reliance on fossil fuels and electricity as much as possible.

Our commitment to living simply translates to many lifestyle choices here. Our main communal building runs on solar power and has very few ammenities. We have a trailer connected to the grid that we are currently working on phasing out. The only things running on the grid are our laptops and one freezer. We do all of our cooking on woodfires year round, which means c... more inside

Located in the farm country of northeast Ohio, Shepherd's Bridge provides a working farm environment where the elements of sustainable farming are learned and experienced.
The vision is to honor the Creator who has provided all living things. We employ natural farming methods and encourage stewardship of the land and it's resources through specific instruction and hands on learning opportunities.
