We live in the Chiltern Hills an area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' The area is one hour west of London but very rural. Nigel is a self employed countryside contractor and conservation adviser specialising in hedgerow management. He is a teacher of the traditional crafts of Hedgelaying and Scything. We have 100 sheep which graze on a local nature reserve. In exchange for accommodation meals and a weekly wage the helper would be taught a range of practical skills such as hedgelaying, fencing, planting and sheep work. amount of hours help is flexable. The work would be ideal for someone who doesn't mind working in all weathers and is physically fit. This is a great opportunity to learn practical rural skills. We live in a small village with a great local pub with easy public transport access to both London and Oxford.

We're a fun family of 4 (+ dog), living in a beautiful house in rural Wiltshire. We recently moved into the house from London, and I'm still learning how to take care of the garden and how to maintain the house.

I'm a yoga instructor, who loves food, music, dance, travel and yoga. I also have a yoga studio inside my my house where I hold my classes!

My 3 kids:

Girl, 13, loves animals, horse riding, nail polish and music.
Boy, 10, loves football, playing video games, writing stories and being smarty-pants.
Boy, 7, is an adorable and giggly boy who loves swimming, swings and music.

We love watching films, inviting guests over for dinner, cooking together, meeting new people from new cultures and going on roadtrips!
We have had au pairs for years and have stayed in touch with all of them!

We're relaxed, trying to enjoy life and simple things: cooking, music, laughing, having friends over, travelling, enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in front of TV, spendi... more inside

A love of animals is essential as we have 5 dogs and various farm cats.

Hello,

We have a small mixed livestock (Sheep and cattle) farm, which is run to organic principles but not certified.

We are young farmers and are setting up, now in our 4th yr farming.

We live on the farm but also rent land outside around Totnes and on the beautiful South Devon Coast. Our farm is a great location to explore South Devon from and the winter is a great time to come as the beaches are quiet and villages serene.

We have lodgers and B&B rooms in our farmhouse and friends who live in a caravan on the farm. The accomodation offered is in a small double room with ensuite in our house.

We are offering a short winter placement only from now until December 18th.

There is wifi in the farmhouse and you will have access to our shared living space to check emails, warm by the fire and chat with us all etc...

We are a nice bunch. You are welcome to pitch in as much as you like but we ask for a minimum of 10hrs work a week per person in return for accommoda... more inside

We have a very large garden with a vegetable area and small orchard where we keep poultry.
We also have a field which is a couple of hundred metres away where we have a large orchard, paddocks, productive hedges and keep pigs intermittently.
This is not a farm, but an attempt at smallholding whilst trying to work and do other things too!
I make as much of our food from home-grown produce as possible and also use eg wood from our own land.
I intend to try hedge laying this autumn.

We have a small stable consisting of 9 boxes and 8 acres where we produce and sell competition horses and have a couple of liveries. We would like a helper to carry out all stable duties (mucking out, turning in and out, grooming, clipping, tacking up, cleaning tack, lungeing and possibly riding if you ride. We are happy to teach and offer valuable experience) and if you ride then it would be a bonus but Experience with horses is essential. There would be occasional help needed at tidying up around the yard e.g. weeding, mowing etc but mainly horses.

In exchange we offer a nice one bed flat and food. We are happy to take a couple but would only actually need help from one person so would leave the other open to find other work locally.

It is a very friendly small business run by two experienced riders but you will be left alone for long periods of the day due to our other commitments with work.

I am looking for one or two persons or a couple to help me organise my large house. There will be plenty of jobs both inside and out. The outside work would involve gardening and digging, painting and sorting outbuildings. Inside work would be painting and decorating, some joinery work and general maintenance. In return you will have a large, very comfortable bedroom, with your own Televison and with en- suite bathroom - all beautifully furnished as this house has been run as a luxury bed and breakfast. I am happy to either cook meals for you, or leave you to prepare your own if that is what you prefer. I have two gorgeous, friendly dogs who love to be taken for walks and I have a cat who lives outside. I have three adult children and three grandchildren, some of them live near by and we are a close family who get along with people and enjoy relaxed family meals, which we would like home stays to feel welcome to enjoy with us. I live in a beautiful part of Northumberland, just 8 min... more inside

I live on my own, often with an apprentice in an old stone cottage where you will be very welcome for meals. I love to cook using home produce. There are lots of sheds in a very long garden and most of them are full of letterpress printing equipment because I am primarily a printer.

If any of you have knowledge or interest in this field then there may be scope for that, but really I am looking for people to help weatherproof the sheds and get everything ready for the winter. Jobs will include painting, a little bit of carpentry, tree felling, gardening and other bits and bobs.
Your accomadation will be a
snug, private shed at the top of the garden with independant cooking and washing facilities avaliable.
Working hours are very flexible here 4hrs a day, any 5 days a week. so you can pretty much arrange your week so as to have time off to sight see etc in Stratford upon Avon or the Cotswolds .
The village is quiet but does have 2 pubs, 3 shops and moderately good public trans... more inside
