We speak English and French / Nous parlons français (ci-dessous).

Update: we now can't take helpers until later in the year - will update once we have a better idea of timing.

Own transport not required but helpful if you want to go exploring (we live about 9km from public transport and can come and get you from Ax les Thermes). Max twenty hours' work over the week. Single, couple or two friends welcome, as long as you don't mind sharing a double bed. If you're available for a week or so this month, get in touch!

We are located near the foothills of the Pyrenees in the region of Occitania (formerly Languedoc-Roussillon) in the department of Aude. We speak several languages including English, French and Spanish. We have no animals and cannot host pets.

We are looking for people in June who can help with our permaculture projects and gardening and simple restoration work, including painting, carpentry and stonework, as well as daily tasks. No special skills are required. You will have lots of free time to explore this very beautiful and interesting region of France.

We can presently offer a camping place for your tent in exchange for two hours of work per day.

You can spend your free time going on outings to nearby villages and scenic places as well as to local markets, vide-greniers and festivals. We are within walking distance of buses and trains that will take you to Carcassonne or Quillan for only one euro.

We are Jean and Laurence, born in 1965, with two daughters (born in 1993 and 1995 and gone from home - most of the time now).
You will find references about us, as couch-surfer and BeWelcome hosts, see our website links above.
We are part of the couch-surfing network since 2007 and we like it very much !
We are french, good English speakers, poor Spanish speakers.
In 2004, we bought a country house in the Pyrenees. We live and work in Aix-en-Provence, but we spend most of our holiday time in this house, doing usually the following activities :
- repairing the house
- taking care of the garden
- hiking, running, cycling, swimming in the St Pée d'Ardet little lake, cooking, reading, participating to the life of the village ...

The house is situated in a village named Galie, near the banks of the Garonne river (the house was flooded in June 2013, one meter of water + mud for 24 hours no serious damage because we live upstairs). The beautiful Pyrenees are all around, and Sp... more inside

We are an anglo-french couple who have just finished building an ecological (straw bale and earth and straw) house for our family in the foothills of the Pyrenees. We live in an 'eco-hamlet' of five houses. We are looking for help with our permaculture vegetable patch, some finishing touches to the house, and harvesting herbs as part of a cooperative plant project. We expect 5 hours work a day in exchange for meals and accommodation in our house or barn. There a places to put up tents or park vans. Our ideal helpers have some experience or love of gardening, enjoy physical work and like to live simply, close to nature. Work hours can be flexible with whole days off planned for exploring the area. There are lakes, rivers, mountains, all within easy reach, as are small villages with lots going on in terms of concerts and events over the summer. The food is mostly vegetarian but some meat occasionally appears on the table.

My name is Catherine, and I am english living in a very beautiful part of the pyrenees. I bought a near ruin of a farmhouse twelve years and have been renovating it ever since.A labour of love. There is still more to do and I want to extend the garden to make a organic garden to give my children vitamins! Up until now I have being doing alot of work myself alongside my ex husband, but have slowed down a bit with mothering. If you are interested in stonewalling, general decorating work and creating a vegetable garden, it may suit you. Also the surrounding area is very beautiful for walking, nature and skiing in the winter. There is a small bread house across the garden which
would be your bedroom and bathroom so a bit of privacy.

We've been renovating and converting a huge barn using natural materials and reusing the original materials where possible.
We are situated in the heart of the forest in the Perigord Natural Park 4km from nearest town, which is lively and beautiful. If you want to be totally immersed in nature and appreciate the wildlife, this is the place for you.
Currently we need help with gardening, cleaning, maybe cooking and someone to build a brick barbecue (unless you could make one from an oil barrel.)
If you have a tent or camper van, great. If not we can provide beds.
There is a lot of work to be done outsidje like repairs to roof, moving stones, clearing ground, making drainage, levelling, fencing and extending the vegetable plot. The ground has been left unattended for many years but we have made a start planting fruit trees and started a veggie plot using the principles of Permaculture. Julia has done the permaculture certificate and would be happy to pass on what I know. We liv... more inside
