Hi helpers,
Our little patch of paradise is alongside a river 10mins walk from the town of Malanda which is in the hills 1hr west of Cairns. We have a couple of teenage kids as well as dogs, cats, chooks, geese and cows. A drivers license is pretty handy, but not essential. There is a self contained flat near the waterfall and all meals are had with the family.
We also have a property up in the hills where our breeder cattle live. It is nice and quiet and there is loads of wildlife about.
Between these 2 farms we are kept busy. We usually take 1 or 2 helpers at a time and prefer not to take small children as the river is very close to the house.
Best contact is the mobile, but we check email most mornings.

We are a family of four (2 daughters aged 10 and 13) who live in our bus as close to nature as possible.
After years of farming, natural building and holding permaculture courses on our farm, we got sick of the monetary system and attachment to owning land....SO SOLD EVERYTHING and went traveling.
Now we live as part of a quiet community of meditators, gardeners and soul seekers - pay as we go.
I am the green finger of the family, my husband is a producer with a little recording studio on board the bus and my kids like nature, reading, minecraft and playing. I homeschool the eldest and do about 2 hours a day in the garden.
Our camp is simple. You stay in a bell style 8 person tent, alongside our bus. We cook on the fire outside or inside the bus with gas if it rains. We squat on a drop loo outside and shower under the stars from a bucket.
We are close to Pomona township (bike ride 5 mins) with markets, doctors, shops, cafes, Noosa only 30 mins away and the Vipassana meditatio... more inside

This home is part of a larger off-grid solar community known as starlight community in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterlands welcoming volunteers from within Australia and Abroad. We are very fortunate to be nestled in the Mapleton Nation park.

We have comfortable accommodation, several acres of forest/bush and a great local waterhole for swimming in on hot days. We share the space with wild Kangaroos, Wallabies and amazing Birdlife.

If you are open minded (and open-hearted) people who have a sensitive and respectful relationship with nature and their fellow human beings then you will like it here!

The main attributes that we seek in volunteers is that they work with enthusiasm and enjoyment, doing a good job they can be proud of!

We eat both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals. We will always ensure vegetarian food is available at all times for those who prefer it.
