We are David and Nicky Rae and have 4 children all grown up now, 3 cats and 7 dogs (of various types!)
We live in North Wales close to the coast with views that look out to sea in one direction and up to the foot hills of Snowdonia the other, while overlooking the Conwy estuary.

We have a mixed stock farm with chickens, sheep, cows, and 2 piggies.
We run a small livery yard with horses and ponies.
The general jobs are to help with what ever is going on with the farm and or doing some gardening maintenance (summer) and light household chores.

At present we are hoping to find a couple who would like to be here to house and pet sit over the coming Christmas period for 2-3 weeks as we are planning to visit one of our sons in Australia.
We have help on the farm during the week days and there is always someone around with the horses so you would not be unsupported.

We will provide a car for you to use while you are here and leave money for food supplies.

The site is beautifully situated; on a south facing slope overlooking wooded valleys in a part of the country that hs a wealth of hidden valleys, walks, villages. Plenty of opportunity for seeing the sites, public transport (bus stop) about 300 metres from the campsite with buses to Bristol or Chippenham and then a 15 minute journey into Bath, Oxford or London (about 1 hr). We own a large old house near Newton Stewart, with semi-natural woodland and a large garden, which we are trying to improve all the time. Work includes helping us to eradicate rhododendron ponticum, a non-native invasive shrub growing in the woodland, which involves cutting and pulling out bushes, thus allowing native trees to grow, this is best done in winter; also some garden work, painting, tree planting and making bread. We are particularly interested in garden design, plant ecology and environmental issues, our garden has been featured in several magazines. We grow our own vegetables, eat our own meat, and do a lot of home-cooking. Accommodation is offered in our house, with your own bedroom and bathroom, eating meals with us. We like to eat well, with plenty of vegetarian food (and meat). We have wi-fi .

Hi there
We are Vicki, Carina, Oli, Freya and Isla, and we moved from Bristol 3 and a half years ago to this lovely valley that lies on the borders of England and Wales (known as the Border Country). We wanted the opportunity to develop productive and creative spaces on the land and to give our children/grandchildren a more rural childhood. We brought with us, Esme, an elderly cat.

We would welcome anyone with a passion for being outdoors and who wants to get stuck in and involved with our various physical projects. A couple would be ideal but anyone who is motivated, confident and strong would be a great help.

Specifically we need help with a range of garden and domestic projects; landscaping work to finish off a building project, clearing trees and rubble; re-finding the pathways that meander through woods and up the steep sided banks of our stream.
It is also a busy time of year in the vegetable garden, starting off lots of seeds in the polytunnel, planting out, turning ... more inside

Do you like the sea? Kayaking, swimming, SUP ...... Fancy a summer on the UK's south coast in Worthing? I am renovating a two bedroom flat in Worthing UK which is in a wonderful attractive block of flats only minutes walk to the beach.

I need help with wallpapering, painting and decorating. This will not be until at least the end of July.

The flat is currently very basic at the moment but it will quickly get better over the next month. With your help it'll happen even more quickly! It has a balcony and lovely sea views, which is what made me buy it.

In return for help each day you'd have all your food included whilst staying with us.

I enclose a floor plan in the photo section so you can get an idea of the size and layout.

On the farm we produce free range eggs and cider. Our orchards and kitchen garden are organic.
We live in a four hundred year old farm house in the beautiful, quiet and unspoilt Herefordshire countryside.
The work involves grading and packing free range eggs. During the spring, summer and autumn there is work in the garden.
We particularly welcome people who enjoy cooking. We have a tradition of good food and enjoy introducing helpers to English recipes.
We have three horses, a dog and two cats, which makes it a great environment for animal lovers.
At the weekends, our helpers often like to visit local historic cities, such as Oxford, Bath and Ludlow, and go walking in the Black Mountains in Wales.
Over the last 5 years we have welcomed helpers from France, Germany, Italy, USA, Sweden, Hungary, Japan and Hong Kong, and many have become long-term friends through the time they have spent with us.
Longer term helpers only (1 month minimum stay).

We are one of four new eco smallholdings which gained planning permission in 2016 under the new One Planet Development planning policy. We are currently in the process of building our off-grid family home. The planning permission requires that the house is “zero carbon in construction and use” and uses local, natural materials.

Our house is a two story roundwood timber frame, with straw bale infill walls and lime render.

We also have two acres of apple orchard, keep bees for pollination and honey, and will grow much of own food.

Visitors can expect to be involved in building work (lime rendering, clay plastering, carpentry...), beekeeping, orchard management and gardening. Our immediate three neighbours in this new eco-village are similarly self-building homes from predominately natural materials and we are part of a wider low-impact community in West Wales.
