Chores could include weedwacking, mowing, weeding, pruning to cleaning house, windows, painting, taking dog for walk, riding our horse. We have an interesting retail shop selling retro furniture and clothing. Both my husband and I work full time therefore will not be at home during the day most of the time. UPDATE: I have some heavy garden work that requires some strength so would prefer either a strong single male or a couple to join me as soon as possible.

I am a very friendly hardworking lady who has lived in the Bay of Islands for 30 years. 4 years ago I separated from my husband and moved to Ota Point, Whangaroa. My warm & sunny home is on the edge of beautiful Waitapu Bay, a tidal inlet of the Whangaroa Harbour perfectly calm for kayaking, with stunning sea views and my location is very central to explore the North. There are many stunning beaches nearby and fantastic walks including St Paul's Rock which has amazing views.

My preference is for mature people wishing to stay with me for a maximum period of 1 week and depending on the amount of projects extended stays may be available.

I love to host vibrant and fun people keen to just muck in with every day tasks and help plan and execute any new ideas.
Mostly tasks are gardening, some minor household repairs and mainte... more inside

Hi, now looking for helpers for basic general work, property clean up/fencing preferably 2 or maybe 3 helpers. Painting experience could also be helpful as small room needs painting. We have 20 acres with epic views of the ocean, Poor Knights Islands etc. 3 minute drive or 15min walk to stunning beach which is often very little people etc. Stunning place to live the rural coastal life. We are easy going and have 2 amazing kids, ages 5 & 8. Great surfing/fishing area. Very private property and accommodation. Enjoy this wonderful coastline rated as one of the best in the world by National Geographic traveller magazine. I have Sam who is a Beagle x a most adorable companion, 1 duck, bantam rooster and a goose are our only lifestock.

Waipu Caves are a local attraction and beaches are about 20 minutes away.

The property is 10 Kms inland from the main highway and 26 Kms to Whangarei township.

You will find us nestled in the bush 30kms east of Whangarei at Pataua North. The river is at the end of our driveway perfect for fishing and kayaking. The surf beach is an easy 7kms away and we have surf boards and kayaks available to use. Working with us is mainly weeding and potting plants in our plant nursery located on our property and helping out at the Whangarei Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. Generally work is 4 hours per day but help in the kitchen is always appreciated. We have a cabin available with a small bedroom containing single bunk beds and its own shower and kitchenette, or there is an option to stay in a room in the house. We are a married couple with 3 teenage children who come and go and a small dog.

The Longhouse is situated in Kerikeri, 15 mins walk from the shops and a 5 minute walk to the historic Stone Store, and Stone Store basin. There are plenty of walking tracks nearby to explore and there are bicycles for you to use. You can arrange to go kayaking with our neighbours at NZ Sea Kayak Adventures: nzkayaktours.com

Helpers can sometimes help with general gardening, which may include mowing (and ride-on mowing), weed-eating, weeding vegetable garden, and general property maintenance and house painting/maintenance/housekeeping.

Helpers are asked to spend four hours (or by arrangement) for every night they stay by helping us either in the garden or house, and we prefer to have 2 helpers staying to help each other (over 20 years of age). There are up to 2 bedrooms and a bathroom available. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. If you travel to Kerikeri by bus we can pick you up at the bus stop in town.

Free wi-fi is available.

We've lived overseas for many years, including time in South America, Asia and the Middle East, and returned six years ago to start our 'off grid adventure'. Having 'internationalized' it's been time to put some roots down (literally) in a sustainable, creative and co-evolutionary way. These days we're a family of four (kids aged 3 and 6) and a friendly dog. We speak some Spanish and a little Japanese and would receive foreigners eagerly (also fellow NZers of course). We're one hour's drive from the nearest towns (Kaitaia and Kerikeri) although a small organic co-op is twenty-five minutes away. Neighbours include a Bee-Keeper and his family, artists, potters and homesteaders, some of whom are open to receiving helpers who may wish to spend more time in the area.
People wishing to learn about setting up off-grid so that they can do so themselves would be able to pick up valuable skills at our place. Because we are still building our home, accommodation and facilities are limited. H... more inside
