A 200 year old cotswold stone house located in a small village near Stroud. It has a good size garden on a slope with woodland above and is located in a conservation area within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty backing on to the Toadsmoor valley. The house is 25 mins walk from Stroud town centre and has recently undergone major refurbishment which is still ongoing. There are a few shops in the village as well as a pub nearby. The house is surrounded with the hills and countryside on your doorstep...great for forest walks and there are lovely lakes to swim in nearby.. English, Spanish and French is spoken. Helpers stay can camp in the garden in and share facilities like kitchen and bathroom with others in the house. We aim to work an average of 5 hours per day, 5 days p/week. I have a toddler daughter who lives with me half the week and she's very easy going and sweet. The work is varied but currently there are raised beds to make for growing vegetables, a chicken run to m... more inside

*** AUGUST helpers needed!!
At the moment we only have space for helpers who are willing to camp (bringing their own tent, sleeping bag etc) in exchange for just 2-3 hours work a day plus 2 days off a week. Do drop me a line if you are interested :) ***

Set on the edge of the pretty fishing village of Beer on Devon's south coast, this 39-bed Youth Hostel is in need of a willing helper over the coming months to help keep it looking it's best.

Unfortunately we are not able to offer food, but you will have full use of a kitchen to prepare and cook your own meals.

The work here at YHA Beer mainly comprises of 4-5 hours a day of cleaning (inc making beds) with some occasional gardening and painting, and with 2 days off a week.
It`s not particularly glamorous (can include a fair share of cleaning toilets!) but the reward of living in this lovely village just a 10 minute walk to the beach, I think, makes it well worthwhile :)

We live in a cottage with an extensive garden (extensive to us!) of 2.5 acres. There is a stream, a pond, woodland, allotment and lawn space - several gardens in one! We need help clearing, maintaining and landscaping the different areas of the garden. This might be clearing brambles and nettles or clearing mud and undergrowth from the pond or other tasks like this, depending on what we are working on at any time. Some of the photos show the areas of garden we are working on - still in a mess! We will only want help at certain times of the year depending on our projects and other business - always worth checking.
We have a beautiful, hand-built shepherd's hut that sleeps 1-2 and a stunning Mongolian yurt that sleeps 1-4 so depending on anyone else staying, you can choose accommodation. Either way, it's an outdoors experience with a bit of comfort thrown in - but camp life (including camp fires) is what you'll be getting stuck in to. We live in a very rural area so peace and ... more inside

We would love to have you stay with us for a week or two in this little piece of Cornish heaven. Our 5 acre small holding is in need of initial clearance of buildings, sheds, trees and weeds. Once the site has been cleared the operation will involve erection of stone and wooden buildings, animal pens and associated fencing.

There may be repairs to stone barns, clearing out our river and maintaining the orchards.

If you would like to learn English better,
the local community has many fun activities where you can meet people and learn some traditional Cornish farming skills.

Perhaps you have some experience to bring to the table?

We are happy to house you and feed you well in our brand new guest annex complete with rainfall shower room over looking the quarry cliff face. Try fishing on the river. Feel free to borrow a bicycle and take a trip down the country lanes. We ask for 25 hours per week in exchange for food and board.

In addition to helping on the land there i... more inside

We have a vision of our home being an ethical cultural centre, with poly tunnels and bees, a forest garden, composting toilets and interesting workshops that share knowledge and improve wellbeing, a place that promotes and sets an example of self sufficiency and community partnership.

3 years ago we were living in a caravan among a lot of mud and 15 year old trees next to a house that had no roof or windows! Now after a lot of hard work, we are living in a partly developed house, with wood and solar powered heating, a composting toilet, lime plastered walls, chickens in the wood, veg beds and a poly tunnel on the way up. We welcome volunteers with the vision and enthusiasm we have to be part of our continuing journey.

Next steps . . . Bees, more lime plastering, developing the woodland as agroforestry, beginning organic conversion. looking at how to create a community here.

We are Amy (42), Mike (45), Ada (12) and Eartha (5)

We are hoping to find male or female volunteer... more inside

We are Jill and Phil, we have a large property of converted and semi converted barns, we are gradually upgrading the property to provide tourist accommodation. Currently we have two B&B rooms and 2 holiday cottages. We also have a large garden-flowers and vegetables, a fair sized pond and woodland. We have a few chickens who roam freely around the garden and two adorable guinea pigs.

We need help from October 2019 with all aspects of the above, priorities determined by current projects and the time of the year. We will also try to make good use of any specific skills offered as well as teaching new ones. We ask 5 hours work a day, five days a week - or the equivalent worked flexibly (4 week minimum stay). In return we offer good food and accommodation - private bedroom and shower room, all other areas are shared with us. We can also provide a bike for local investigation and lifts to nearby Acle for a bus or train to Norwich for example. Our helpers will often take a day or two t... more inside

I have recently returned home to the family farm and need your help:) Come and have a wonderful summer on our farm.
We have 50 acres of grassland with 2 jersey house cows. A small herd of shorthorn beef cows and wiltshire horn sheep. We have a couple of glouceser old spot pigs, some chickens and a veg patch. The farm is highly diversified with craft/artists workshops, a campsite, a cafe, and a river swimming club. We have a small school on site and we do lots of farm education with school trips and also a regular farm school.
There is also 150 acres of conventional arable land that I am managing under countryside stewardship with an aim to encourage wild pollinators, bats and birds.
Volunteers would be expected to work 25 hours a week and can stay for 2 weeks or longer. Jobs can vary and can include gardening, working in the tearoom and on the coffee van, collecting subs at the river swimming club, looking after the campsite, and working with school groups. Depending on your expe... more inside

We are looking for one or two helpers as soon as possible. We have a large garden - our own vegetables and orchard - that needs a lot of attention and a few painting jobs. There are lots of little children around too so it would be nice to play with them as well. They love new people!
We have 6 grown up children who are in and out, so help around the house may be useful as well.
We have 10 acres, a horse, 6 goats, chickens, and two dogs. We like to think that we are very relaxed, but there is too much to do!!! It would be brilliant if you knew how to do woodwork, but not essential.
You would be given a room to yourselves, the house has 7 bedrooms, there is a lot of space.
We live in the countryside 1.5 miles from the local town. 45 minutes from Salisbury and Bath.
You would work 4-5 hours per day for 6 days a week. (about). We welcome anyone for 1-3 weeks.
We look forward to your arrival.
