Live and work at a true Austrian alpine farm. Very remote!

This is for volunteers who look for a really remote place and simple life. You will be working with cows, check and repair fences at a rough, remote alpine place with stunning views and lots of wildlife.

You should be in a good physical condition, ready to walk on step mountains and not afraid of cows.

The place ist stunningly beautiful in days of good wheather. However, you will be experiencing heavy thunderstorms, stormy days and even snow in summer.

The next village is minimum one hour walk away. The place is at 1700m, the area where the animals graze is huge and step. The pastures reach up to 2000m.

You will be able to observe wildlife a lot - dear, eagle, fox and many others. It is not a commercial place tourists visit.

It is a place for true lovers of nature and lonely places and farming life with big animals.

We are a couple in our 50s who recently took the place and look for ways to run it in a... more inside

Our small homestead lies in Bocksdorf near Stegersbach in the southern Burgenland. We, Claudia and Hans, have been living on the idyllic spot since 2010. We aim for self sufficiency. Our goats, chicken and the garden are the base for that. The scattered fruit tree meadow and the forest supply us with work, but still bees, rabbits, deer, pheasants and sometimes a fox have a rendezvous. Our goal is to live in harmony with nature. We are looking forward to meeting like minded people.

You can learn milking, making Topfen (a kind of cottage cheese), destilling Schnaps and easy tasks in the forest.

Helpers will be provided meals and their own room, shower, and toilet in exchange for 30 hours of helper per week.

We look forward to receiving your message!

I am Christine and with me there live three children (born 2005, 2008, 2012). We living in a small quiet village in the Waldviertel (a region of hills and forests, 30 km away from Krems/Danube). Our home is an old farm with a beautiful garden with fruit trees, vegetables and neighbouring to a forest where I make also wood for the winter. My vision is to support ourselves with the fruits and vegetables I plant myselves. I experiment with permacultur.
We are unschoolers, as I wish the children to grow up naturally and in contact with nature.

I look for a person to help me with our garden, in the wood, to repair some things, help me with the household, cooking, and accompanying our kids (during the day and sometimes in the evening).

I can offer a tent in the garden or the sofa in the livingroom.

I would be glad, if you feel coherent with my profil, and you write to me. Don´t shy to write. :-)

We are a "little" family :Margarete & Wilhelm and Elisa (3,5) and Lukas(17), the other 4 childs,Julia, Jan, Philipp and Maria have a own home.

We live here in Trautmannsdorf a small village in Styria on 3000 m² with dog, cat, goats, chickens, ducks and try to create a small paradise from our piece of country. Because we eat vegetarian food a lot of vegetables and fruit are needed which we plant and harvest with love. We are learning what Permakultur can show us.
The deferential contact with mother earth and all his living beings is a life aim of us.

In our area you can hiking, cycling, swimming and we have the Bad Gleichenberg Therme. Near from Feldbach there is Choclate Manufactur "Zotter" which you can visit. And we have a really lovely big old Castle "Riegersburg" you can explore.

Moreover, there is a small practise on our place here in which Margarete accompanies the people with "Holisic-Pulsing" and William works as a certified massage therapist with different te... more inside

Hi,
We are Regina (58), Jobst (55), Willi (26), Felix (14), Jobst (27).
We live in Upper Austria between Linz and Passau, near Germany and Czech Republic.
Our house is on the top of a small mountain and it is surrounded by a forest.
About 5km from the farm is a big skiing area, where you can go skiing in winter.
In summer we have a swimming pool and a trampoline for relaxing and adventure.

This farm is an animal sanctuary for abused animals.
We have now 4 horses, 1 donkeys, 1 pony and 2 dogs.
Our animals need a lot of love, so if you want to come here you have to like them.
We also want to speak more English and Italian (Regina).

It would be good if you can stay longer, min: 4 weeks

e need some help to run the animal sanctuary and for general maintenance of the stable, but also work in the forest, cutting trees or in the garden. This region has a lot of snow in winter, so we also need help with snow shoveling.
Furthermore some help in the house would be also good, ... more inside
