We are a small organic olive farm, not yet in production. We practice permaculture and the olives are part of a `forest garden` which also includes 200 cork oaks, carob and other trees and shrubs. We also have a vegetable garden, fruit trees, dogs, cats, a house pig, donkeys and worms!. Living in a Mediterranean climate we practice several different methods of water recycling and have a biological swimming pool. Help is required with all aspects of a compassionate, sustainable lifestyle.
Meals are vegan, wine is served with the evening meal and we are non smoking. Current projects are planting, general forestry and garden management, animal care, creating semi permanent grazing areas for the donkeys plus various indoor projects for bad weather.
Normally up to 4 helpers are here at a time, living as part of a family style community. We ask a minimum commitment of 4 weeks, with longer stays very much preferred. People usually book a few weeks ahead, but we sometimes have last minutes... more inside

Originally from the North East of Scotland we moved to Central France and bought the abandoned farm in 2008 after selling up in Scotland in 2006 and down-sizing to a camper-van with our two huge dogs and touring around Europe looking for the right place to put down some roots. We are working towards being as self-sufficient as possible-renovating the buildings and developing the land using eco-friendly, sustainable techniques, resources and energy. We have one hectare of land surrounding the house and a further 2 hectares of overstood, abandoned coppiced woodland that we are attempting to regenerate to provide our fuel; building materials; material for basket-making; charcoal-making etc. and just for being a beautiful place to spend time in and have fun!
The hectare of land is divided into pasture for animals and a potager/vegetable garden and orchard for food production. We are joining up these areas to create an all-encompassing "forest garden".
We have recently given up our g... more inside

Ken and I (we`re English)live in the countryside near Domfront in Basse Normandie (Lower Normandy). We are retired and live here permanently with our cat, five goats, three sheep, two (currently five - the little “boy” turned out not to be a boy at all) bossy guinea pigs, and some chickens(we did have llamas but they have gone to live somewhere else - not too far to visit though) All are pets or grass cutters, we don`t eat them.

We need some help partly with the garden, weeding, digging, mowing, edging, that sort of thing. Also with the field, the woodlands (small and damp so nowhere near as grand as it sounds) and the animals.
We can probably cope with any one of these but all at once is too much these days!

You will also need to enjoy working with animals and perhaps be happy for example to clean out the sheep hut or the chickens, help keep the goats supplied with hay, help Ken if any fences need repairing, that sort of thing.

Nothing we haven`t and don`t do ourse... more inside

We are Simon (48 years old, ex-timber framer with a small recycling business) and Frauke (53 years old, musician and amateur film maker), with two grown up daughters, both of whom are studying art, and home from time to time. Living in the beautiful Gers countryside (between Bordeaux and Toulouse), we have a large organic garden and orchard. We have a very cute dog, cats and some geese with occasional aggression management issues.
We are looking for four hours help a day in the house, garden, and with the odd building project. No experience is necessary but smiles & enthusiasm are always welcome! We have a large wood and metal workshop, bicycles that can be borrowed, internet access available, a ping pong table, and in the summer a small swimming pool. As for accommodation, we have a room in the house or a caravan in the garden to offer. We are vegan but helpers are welcome to supplement their meals with meat or cheese if they want.We both enjoy playing music ( drums and guitar) a... more inside

Eco farming, building and tourism. !!!

I just returned from some time in Africa and am welcoming volunteers again! There's plenty to do on the land, making this place even more beautiful than it already is.

Work during the next months will be:
Expanding the area for the donkeys, creating a new water system for irrigation and grey water, building another shower and toilet. There's some fencing work for a new vegetable garden and orchard and much more...
During the summer months there will be many campers around, so during that period (June-August) I also need help with cleaning, cooking and taking care of the guests in general.

I am trying to vary the working days, so no one gets bored and to give you the chance of choosing which kind of work you prefer, so everyone feels comfortable with what he/she is doing.

More about the ongoing projects:
We still have an organic walnut plantation on the program! 4 Hectares (10 acres ) of land has been cleared, first job is a fen... more inside

Immerse yourself in rural France... we are off the beaten track in the southern Loire Valley, near the historic town of Ligueil. Our 15th century house is at the heart of a very small medieval village. We have a local store with a bar, but that`s it! Bigger shops and restaurants can be found in Loches (about 20 mins away by car). From Paris the nearest mainline railway station is in Tours. There is also an international Airport at Tours (serviced by RyanAir). The bus which will deliver you to our village leaves from the centre of Tours and takes an hour to get here.

We are not wealthy people, just very fortunate to find such a special place to live. And we are committed to ensuring this ancient building is in good repair so it lasts another 600 years. We mostly do the work ourselves, and we run a part-time `bed and breakfast` business to help pay the bills (open from May to October). Like all old buildings there is always something to be done, so we could do with some assistance... more inside

Description
-- Trip / Balade with pleasure-boat (11 x 3,3 M) from Rotterdam (Netherlands) to French in March and begin of april --

Hello, I'm traveling by inland river barge through Europe, especially France, Belgium and Holland. The barge is an original Dutch built peniche and made for the old French channels. I still transport cargo and I am the third generation of a shipper family from both sides of my parents. I live and work alone on the barge sometimes accompanied by my girlfriend.

There is a simple separate -little- room (see photo..)for guests in the front of the barge which is not suite. (no sanitation, but there is a chemical toilet and lavabo) Also a heating system, fridge/freezer and micro-wave.

The work to do depends on the person, maybe some cleaning, housekeeping work, shopping and cooking??? And serving the aperitif of the skipper of course at 18h00 exactly..LOL.

My intention is to make contact with other people and have an exchange of cultures.

Update may 2019 :looking for Helpers immediately for house sitting and art project with refugees. Prefer longer stay thank you for getting in touch.

Hello and welcome to our site. Our house is a bed and breakfast so that means we are around pretty much through out the year. We have three areas of interest which i will tabulate below. What we offer in return is lodge and food. We can also offer lesson in English and Germany languages. And we offer our experience in Art and Carpentry production.

Nancy and Tass live in a small town called Lure in the east of France. Our house was built in 1787, yes, that`s right, that long ago! It is still in good shape but can also be better with a bit of renovation and that is one of the
areas we need people that have the know how to come and stay with us. The house is part of the history of Lure and we have since established an association called culture and creativity. The house it self is artistic in every way.

With the associa... more inside
