We live on a couple of acres of beautiful mostly-forested land in the Comox Valley. Depending on the timing, comfortable accommodation may be available in a cabin on the property, or in screened gazebos tucked into a corner of the garden or forest....

Looking for people interested in sharing good food and helping out with a range of different projects, including:

- constructing a small bath house for guests,
- watering plants in the garden,
- creating a rockery along the edge of a stream bed,
- making compost and compost "teas",
- harvesting berries and tomatoes,
- re-visioning & reorganizing the woodworking shop, and
- stacking firewood.

As well as being the primary caretaker of the garden and the land, I have a background in community development - here in Canada and in northeast India. Love preparing Indian food, and sharing info about traditional Vedic farming practices farmers and tea growers we've been working with in Assam are now using! www-fertile-grou... more inside

We have a busy little homestead with two small homes and a sleeping cabin, platform tent, outhouse and a summer kitchen in the works. We also have a garden that is in its first year, forest, wood piles, weeds, compost. And we have two kids, two kittens, and a dog. There are lots of projects that need help: weeds to pull, gardens to maintain, things to build, or help to offer in the home. We live on a glorious rock beach with bald eagles, seals, and vultures. We have kayaks, canoe, bicycles, and trail maps to use. We'd like a few hours of help a day in return for basic accommodation and one meal a day. Lots of time for enjoying the beauty of the place built in!

We are part of a cooperatively-owned aspiring eco-village, based on the ethics and principles of Permaculture, compassionate communication, and shared values.

Our new 43 acre site includes large, irrigated fields, two spring-fed streams, riparian areas, and young forest, adjacent to 60 acres of community farmland with a 2 acre pond, and backed by hundreds of acres of wild public parkland, extending to the highest point on the island.

In 2012, we will be working on a large propagation greenhouse, market gardens, medicinal herb starts, garlic, pears and apples, as well as chickens and dairy goats. Other projects for those with appropriate skills include water management, fencing, bio-diesel, construction, and helping with our educational events, such as Permaculture classes and workshops.

The village of Ganges, which has all the amenities needed by a community of 10,000, is 10km away, reachable via thumb, public bus, or a hilly bike ride. The ocean is 3km away, and hiking sta... more inside

We are a family with 4 kids (2,4,6 and 12) who live on an 8 acre lakefront property on which we run a summer vacation rental business. We have an old orchard, old and new gardens and a site based permaculture project in development. There is a main house, cabin, helper tiny house, sauna, hot tub, woodworking shop, and outbuildings on the property.

We ask for 5-6 hours per day, 5 days a week and are flexible in terms of the type of work and schedule as requested by our guests.

We are experienced WWOOFers and hosts but new to HelpX. In 2015 we lived in New Zealand in an intentional community called Tui and during that time we hosted multiples people in our home continuously- it was wonderful!

The Property and Accommodation: *There is clothing optional beach access on our property as we are located on the lakefront. Our 12 acre (4 hectare) property overlooks the Salish Sea and the Coast Mountains. Our tiered gardens of flowers, herbs, and vegetables, are nestled in the bluffs. We are developing a berry and fruit garden, putting up more deer fencing, building a greenhouse, and landscaping and path developing with the natural vegetation: ferns, salal, ocean spray, huckleberry, wild current and elderberry in addition to rhodos and other perennial bushes. Accommodations consist of a private basement suite that includes one queen size bed, an en suite with shower, private entrance and a ocean mountain view. Check out our website. We have a small family hobby farm on a small ferry accessed island which is a tourist destination off of Vancouver Island, Quadra Island. We are working toward producing much of our own food, or trading/buying it locally, and are in the process of setting up our permaculture based garden. We have five dairy goats, egg and meat chickens, ducks and three free-range children (4, 6, 7).

Quadra Island has a network of mountain biking and hiking trails, many miles of beautiful coastline, and a wonderful artist and music community. Our farm is located relatively close (3km) to both small towns on the island, where hitchhiking is quite easy and accepted.

This summer's main farm projects include the usual goat, chicken and duck care, processing meat birds, vegetable gardening, but also finishing a cabin and outdoor kitchen, and expanding electric fencing. Home projects would include help with children, fixing bicycles, help with household chores and mealtime. Other projects may be inc... more inside

Hello! Me (Susana) and my partner Lyle will start to build our tiny house next May. We live in this amazing island in the province of British Columbia, Canada, called Cortes. It is a small island, very beautiful, where Nature is present all around. Until now we were living between a motor-home and a camper, both on the property. We already have a trailer to build the tiny house on top of it, and we want to start building it on May 2017. We are looking for someone who has experience as a carpenter, who can be flexible and adaptable, with good mood and willing to share some time with us.

We are thinking to be working on the tiny house from 8am to noon, and then you will have all the rest of your day free, to enjoy the beauty of this amazing place!

Cortes island is a very beautiful place, located on the Discovery Islands. Our property is located on the south end of the island, the best place to be. You can walk to Smelt Bay beach, the nicest sandy beach on the island, where you c... more inside
