We are an English/French couple passionate about nature, wildlife and travelling. We have cycle toured all over the world and we are looking to begin our journey to Japan in Osaka where we hope to learn about the local culture and discover the area.
Fran: I have been to six different hosts (family organic farm, hostel, home) partaking in gardening, cleaning and a bit of cooking. All my experiences have allowed me to discover a new part of a country with the insight of a host. What a way to travel!
Mostly my tasks were weeding, seeding, planting, mowing the lawn, cleaning the house/ hostel, reception work, ploughing, attending and riding horses, sorting out sheds. I also have experience dog-sitting (more than 5 years, cats and dogs, references available on request) and was the happy owner of a cat for 12 years. After 13 years horse-riding with clubs and private owners, I am able to look after horses as well.
Chris: I have lots of experience in renovation and I worked for several years as an arborist. Before leaving the UK, I converted and lived on boats in Cornwall. I have woofed in different places in the US and the UK helping on Organic farms. I also have several years' experience working in pubs, and therefore with all types of people. I find them really interesting and educational. A keen surfer, I love being in the sea!
We are both English teachers as well as our respective jobs. We are happy to give lessons for all levels. We have also started a beginner Japanese class and and although we have a very basic understanding, are excited by the prospect of learning more!
We are currently looking for a helpx in Japan and are now available to do so for the unforeseeable. Don't hesitate to get in touch if you're interested in our profile and we'd be happy to have a chat.
All the best
Chris and Fran
