WAITAKI DAM Between 1935 and 1954 a total of seven power generators were build to use the flow of the Waitaki River as a natural source of energy. The generators produced a staggering 105 megawatts. The scenic lookout offers a great view over the water flowing down the river into the valley. There's a couple of picnic tables and lots of shade from the trees. A small walk leads to the other side of the dam for another breathtaking view. Highly recommended!

Eve's cabins are perfect to get close to nature and to have a perfect relaxing weekend. The cabins fit in perfectly with the stunning scenery and offer guests a cosy bed overlooking the mountains. The river is unbelievably beautiful and can be seen whilst your cooking dinner from the kitchen cabin. Great BBQ to cook the freshly caught trout on too!// Everything as described. For a 'hut' stay it's very well equipped with hot water in the shower, electricity in the shared lounge and real beds. Very silent and secluded place. Eve is really nice and we bought some good wine from her.// Really atypical place, clean, beautiful landscape. Very nice host// Highly recommended! An undiscovered gem! Rustic charm with glamping comforts. Secluded spot bordering the owners vineyard and the River with outstanding mountain views! Comfy bed, feather and down duvet, hot shower, warm fire, great BBQ, even solar power to charge your devices and a DVD player for rainy days. You can buy their wine from the cellar door - we loved the Pinot Noir. We will be back!
