We, Matthias and Johanna, came from Germany as backpackers in the 1980s, and met here in NZ, so our home language is German. We are now a family with 8 children - 3 still living at home (1 of them home-schooling, 2 working). Our oldest son with his wife and 4 young boys have moved back onto our property, - they are now living in our cottage. Our lifestyle block is home to a gaggle of geese, a flock of domestic ducks, around 40 chicken, 8 sheep and a few goat bucks, - and of course many wild birds, rabbits and the tiny creatures of fields, woods and duck-pond. An old apple, apricot and peach orchard and a young walnut grove are also part of our little paradise. Amazingly, though situated just off SH1, our place affords a cosy sense of privacy, as it nestles behind an old pine-tree shelter belt and is lined with a shelter belt of poplar trees along the rest of its border. The township of Amberley is 5 min away by car or 20 min by bicycle, where you can do all essential shopping, go to t...

We are a family with two lively boys (10 and 12), living in the countryside between Auckland and Hamilton. We are a handy first or last stop as we are only 40 min from Auckland airport. We always welcome help with the house and various jobs around the place. The activities vary depending on the season (harvest fruit and vegetables, airbnb changeover, cut firewood, spring clean, gardening, painting, cut hedges, help at the local school and community events, etc). And there are ALWAYS two boys wanting to play - cards, rugby, soccer, board games, hide and seek, make fires outside. We go to Papakura town on Tuesdays for groceries and errands and sometimes we go to friends and help at their place for a change of scenery I know what it is like to learn a new language and I can help you with your English if you want. We have travelled and enjoy sharing our piece of New Zealand with visitors. We can help with proof of address and bank account, etc. There is no public transport out here so y...

Hello friends :) We are Sadí and Jacqi, a couple from Perú and Germany. After several years of traveling, volunteering, helping out and learning in many beautiful projects & communities, we have settled down in the rainforest of Perú and are now happy to be able to receive volunteers ourselves :) About a year ago, we bought this piece of land which includes about 56 hectares, in the region of Ucayali The area has suffered a lot from deforestation by the coca leaf production and cattle industry which left the soil very depleted due to the intense use of chemicals. the forests need our support (cutting vines preventing trees from growing, opening up the water ways of the rivers that are blocked by wood, vines and much more...) to be able to recover strongly and healthily. Our vision for this place is to help the local ecosystem to recover its natural balance, establish abundant food forests, including local and foreign varieties, using natural, regenerative methods like permaculture,...

We live on the beautiful Central coast which is half way between Sydney and Newcastle. Our house is located 5min drive from the beach and have a bus stop at the end of the road. There is a lovely lake at the end of the road and there are lovely walks around us as we live near National Parkes. We are about 1 hour from Sydney by train. We are currently looking for a couple with own transport to care for our dog and cat and water the garden. We will be away from late June till mid July and are looking for a house and pet sitter. You will need to walk the dog once a day and feed the animals twice a day as well as keep the house clean otherwise your time is your own to sight see and relax. You will need to buy and cook your own food as we are away. References are preferred. Hope to hear from you soon

We offer accommodation and two dinners - usually Monday and Thursday. You will provide and organize your other meals. Your studio has a kitchen with stove, fridge, and cooking equipment. Our home has an acre of partly native vegetation, organic food garden and chickens. Projects include weeding, mulching, trimming branches and shrubs, etc. Thoughtfulness and respect are very important. Non-smokers. Although not frequent hosts, we enjoy the variety, interests, and perspectives of helpx travelers. In your email contact, please mention your work background and helpx experiences and confirm that you have a car. Have a great day, Pauline and Carl

My friend bought this beautiful old farm in Bjarnarfjordur witch is in the west fjords of Iceland And the westfjords were selected as top destination in the world by Lonely Planet for 2022 No one has lived there for the last 20 years so there’s plenty of things to do Mainly it’s taking care of the eiderducks (put up flags and scarecrows to keep the artic fox and seagulls away from the area) The eider nests on small islands close to the farm so we will need to take a boat or a kayak and row to the islands After the nesting season we pick up the down that they left in the nest And another thing is feeding the rainbow trout that we will be farming in tanks on land Also we have to paint and fix the old house We have our own geothermal hole that produces lots of hot water Even though it’s seems remote it’s only 35km to the next town Hòlmavík where there’s a supermarket, bank and basically everything you need From June to October we are doing whale watching trips from Hólmavík and mo...

Hello. We live on a historic property located in the hills of Echo Park, which is between Silver Lake/Hollywood and Downtown in Los Angeles, CA. We're also adjacent to Elysian Park. We are one mile from Sunset Blvd where there are buses and transit to access the rest of LA. There are 8 historic homes and the stables on 5 acres. We often need help in making repairs, maintenance, painting, helping out with the horses and gardening, sweeping or raking. I am rebuilding one of the adobe houses in the next few months and will need an assistant to help me out with a few tasks. We will be doing some carpentry mostly but also some plastering and other tasks. Any help is very much appreciated. There are always fun projects to work on. We also occasionally need help with some light domestic work, like dusting, washing dishes, washing windows, etc. We have two cats in the house as well as chickens and horses. We usually need help from around 9 am to 1 pm Monday to Friday and we sometimes offer ...

One thing I can advise helpers who want to get a placement with any host is to have at least one PICTURE of YOURSELF. Just as you like to "see" who and where you are coming, hosts like to see who they are opening their home to. The weather is warming up now so there is lots to do outside in the yard. I'm not planting a vegetable garden this year so I'd like to clean up the area, fencing, painting etc. Knowledge of Carpentry and Plumbing are always appreciated. Car mechanics are always helpful. I would really appreciate someone who can do handyman jobs and wants to come for a week or two. I sell things online and on eBay and would love someone who is good at writing descriptions in English. I have a large house and property in a diverse area of Staten Island, New York that I`m always working on. I plant a vegetable garden in the spring using the square foot gardening method. A friend and I rebuilt the whole house on the inside including jacking it up and replacing the foundation,...

LOOKING FOR HELPERS FOR APPROX 5 - 7 DAYS AFTER 20 MAY. In return for 4 hours help a day I offer you accommodation and all meals in a sunny, warm home where you will have your own bedroom (queen size bed) and own bathroom with the added privacy of being in a separate wing of my house. My sunny home sits atop a hill from which you will have a magnificent view of the township of Blenheim to Cook Strait and the hills of the North Island beyond. Of course if you would prefer to work a full day in order to have a day off in which you could explore the nearby Marlborough Sounds, cycle the wine trails, or walk or climb on any of the formed tracks in this area, that would be just fine. My 40 ha property is a sheep farm most of which is leased. I tend a large garden and care for the drive and tracks, drainage and irrigation and deal with fallen trees. It is situated in the midst of vineyards in the Brancott Valley 13km from Blenheim (pop 27,000) which contests the annual sunshine recor...

Welcome to our wonderful mountains still considered part of Melbourne! If all this sounds of interest, we’d love to hear from you! We can accommodate stays of anything from a week to a couple of weeks/months - let us know what works for you. You are very welcome at our home as long as you have a negative RATS on the day you arrive as we have vulnerable family members. We are a friendly family interested in having a cultural exchange and supporting you during your stay. We basically need help in improving and maintaining the property, help needed would include gardening, painting and general housework. We were a busy couple with a great social life. We need help as we have long-term injuries after car accidents and a large part of our property was destroyed in the June storms in 2021. Sometimes our adult children 28-36 are home and 6 grandchildren under 5. We currently have 1 dog that does not come inside and have a huge yard (in case yo...

*Update - Autumn - April-June. We currently have a lot of projects on at the moment so there is a wide selection of tasks to choose from. Work includes gardening projects, feeding chickens, mowing, brush cutting, household chores and upgrading the chicken pen and organising work spaces. **Accommodation is either in a detached house in the forest (up a steep hill from the main house) There are two separate bedrooms up there and our 17-year-old son sleeps in one bedroom and you will have the other bedroom. Or you can sleep in your own van or we have tents (and we have plenty of comfortable mattresses and bedding so no worries about being comfortable). We generally appreciate help in the gardens and around the house with general maintenance, firewood collecting, raking, painting, weeding, feeding chickens etc. Work is flexible and we build a list and you can choose what you want to do. Really happy for people to choose between general garden maintenance and household duties suppor...

Sorry next spot will be late in september PLEASE READ THE PROFILE AND REVIEWS BEFORE YOU APPLY TO VISIT MY PLACE.. You dont need to have an overwhelming desire to save the world, live off the land, or be more useful than a Swiss army knife , to stay here. A nice , honest person is good enough This is a relaxing place, close to nature, away from the backpacker trail on the coast but still got a bit happening, somewhere to recharge your batteries, do a bit of work, have a laugh and meet some real Aussies ,maybe get out of your comfort zone a bit😜 My place is a cattle farm with one farmer, 45 angus cattle, one dog,, lots of birds and wildlife, relaxing place, near KYOGLE, a quiet country town which is 1.5 hours drive west from Byron Bay.

Accommodation is a self-contained studio which includes kitchen, en-suite and wi-fi. We welcome guests, for one week, to help with house and garden for 12 hours per week per guest. We offer accommodation and two dinners - usually Monday and Thursday. You will provide and organize your other meals. Your studio has a kitchen with stove, fridge, and cooking equipment. You will have lots of time to explore our beautiful surroundings and a car is necessary. Most beaches and National Parks are 30 mins away.

Hi Folks, We are ready to go again from early March….. We would really appreciate some extra help with gardening, house painting, small building jobs etc. Our home was built in 1877. It's big with loads of bedrooms and has a tennis court, swimming pool & sauna, a small cinema, a giant pool / snooker table and a lovely river and a great swing bridge too. We also have chickens, sheep, sometimes a horse and our cat Cous Cous. Your bedroom is private, big and has a double bed, desk, chairs, WiFi and Netlix. You also have your own private toilet and shower. We provide and cook all your meals (which often include meat....). In exchange if you can put in a mornings hard work we would be very grateful. We normally work 4 to 4.5 hrs a day, finishing at lunchtime. I am a retired restaurateur and wheeler dealer, I have travelled extensively and enjoy swapping stories.... Join us for a game of cards or a movie in the evenings. Get in touch and see if we can work out some dates to suit yo...
