I like to say that I'm a wise old salty dog (well, wisdom may be little more than an aspiration...). I've lived a varied and at time quite adventurous life and lived in a few different countries. For over 20 years, I ran an ecotourism business on a small island off the West coast of Ireland while raising a family (and hosting helpxers...). Now my kids are grown up and have left the nest, I've sold my share in the business, and I'm travelling the world again. I don't smoke or drink, and I only eat vegetarian (I’m fine cooking my own food). I practice yoga most morning, and will need a place to do this. It can be a common space that's not in use before breakfast, or my own room / hut / cabin (preferred). I speak fluent English and French, and I'm currently learning Spanish, but while I can get by, I can't hold a conversation in it (yet) Being a father of two, I'm fine with kids.

Many friends told me how great HelpX was to meet New-Zealand inhabitants, and work a short time for them! I came here cause I'm looking for a different lifestyle, to travel, meet new people and work abroad. This life project has born 8 years ago, i’ve already achieved something by coming here. Hello, I'm a friendly french woman traveling for a year around your beautiful country. I left France in February 2020 and after traveling a bit in the south of America I arrived in the end of March in New Zealand just before the lockdown. Hi, I’m Gaia. I’ve just graduated from the university In Political science and I’m now ready to explore new countries and meet new people! I can speak fluently Italian and English and I’m ok with Spanish. I was a Scout so I’m used to work hard ( I was the hospitality and volunteering kind of scout not the walk 100km kind of scout ). I like to cook ( i love to eat), organize ( small events, managed b&b ecc), care for animals ( did already house sitting in Nz a few times) or childrens, I can do simple gardening but I would love to learn more about it. In the years I volunteered in different kind of hospitals and kennels, I did babysitting and some admistrative work at a company.
