I’m traveling solo but open to meeting other helpers along the way!

This will be my first time solo-traveling outside of France, and to be honest, it sounds a bit scary, so I’d love to make a few friends to travel with! I'll be in Sri Lanka from November 25th, then I plan to visit Asia but nothing is decided yet!

One of my friend (in my school) is also looking for an internship at the same period. Being with him isn't mandatory but we would both enjoy it

I travel with 3 friends : one is a nurse, one is an ambulance driver and the other is refrigeration technician ! We can do gardening, house keeping, maintenance, cooking, painting, animals caring..

I have more than a year of experience in site maintenance where I was required to do painting, maintenance of green spaces, electricity, I also filled holes in the walls, took care of the waterproofing of bathrooms DIY… I am also a boilermaker/ welder. Very comfortable with children (babysitting) as well as with cat and dog sitting animals

For almost 2 weeks, I've been at a rural school in FATEHGARH PANJTOOR, which is a small village surrounded by farms not far from Amritsar in the Indian Punjabi region. It's been good fun playing badminton with the kids and getting a feel for this part of the world. The President of Auckland school is a traveller and educator who has been working in New Zealand and India for over thirty years. It's been great having conversations about "quantum entanglement" and how we're all connected! Jatinder has had many helpxing volunteers pass through! And there's an Ancient connection with the Ancient people's of New Zealand, who claim their ancestry is from Ancient Persia and India, from where they were forced to flee and migrate some 3500 years ago because of the hugely devastating conflict described in the Mahabharata. The documentary called "Redheads: Skeletons in the Cupboard", which I feature on my website describes this epic migration. When I owned my big camper-van; [which is a while ago now!], it was a real pleasure giving rides and a chance to rest to hitch-hikers and fellow travellers: I know it's great feeling when somebody stops to give you a ride! Over the years, as I've been hitching rides, I ‘lost count’ - [ & I was never counting anyway!], of all those beautiful souls who helped me out and took me in; offered me work and a meal and a place to stay. 'Strangers' who were always friends & never strangers! I always love meeting new friends & passing the time of day in conversation – you never know what you might learn, if we can learn to listen to each other. El Vagabundo by Gibran Khalil Gibran is a small book of poetry I found in one of those small, street-side kiosks in Colombia and here’s a beautiful poem to share with our fellow travelling souls… Lo encontré en las encrucijadas, un hombre que sólo llevaba una capa y un báculo, y un velo de dolor sobre el rostro. My name is Rémi, I am 28 years old and I come from France. I am a trained carpenter. I have always loved traveling. I have volunteered in Africa, in Côte d'Ivoire, where I had the opportunity to work on farms and on community projects for children. These experiences had a profound impact on me. I learned to adapt quickly, to work in difficult environments, and to build relationships with people from very different backgrounds. I love working with children, whether it's teaching them, playing with them, or helping them learn, but I also enjoy getting my hands dirty in the garden. Whether it's helping out in a garden, doing small repairs, or supporting local initiatives, I'm always ready to lend a hand and do my best. What's more, my job allows me to make lots of things. In fact, I converted a van from scratch. I really enjoy manual work. I am open-minded, friendly, and full of energy. I love learning from others and believe that volunteering is one of the best ways to develop personally while having a positive impact.

It'll be my fist time in New Zealand and also my first time solo travelling. I'm really excited about discovering the country, a new culture and new people !
