Currently looking for helpers for 2026/7 with an interest in organic veg farming. A small holding with emphasis on veg and fruit, also poultry. I do one market each week. Typical tasks are weeding, planting, harvesting, seeding, tending to poultry, gathering seaweed, composting, etc... Many other chores that are atypical of a normal domicile with emphasis on eco appreciation. Helpers will need to be able to cook and feed themselves. I offer a vegetation diet. This is a 10 acre property 15 minutes from downtown Queenstown and 10 minutes from historic Arrowtown. which requires a lot of maintenance in the gardens, and around the property in general. The property has 4 buildings, established trees and grounds and 2 paddocks so there is a lot of maintenance to keep up with. We are mainly looking for someone who is happy to help keep the grounds tidy, do basic maintenance and cleaning of buildings and looking after our chickens. We also have a lot of tree planting to do this spring and summer. Experience with basic tools or trades is a bonus but not required. If you have experience in some of the activities described here and are looking for a farm stay that is both peaceful and busy, please enquire. We will need some help more urgently from 6 to 16 October and from 7 to 17 November. CURRENT ACTIVITIES. Our priorities right now are planting, pruning stone fruit trees, mowing lawns, harvesting potatoes, asparagus, avocados, cooking and building compost. Planting of carrots, onions, and other root crops is ongoing. Corn seed will be planted in September, October and November for a progressive harvest. Help with cooking is also desirable with a lot of fresh foods available for preparation and cooking.
