WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FROM AUGUST 2026 TO END OF OCTOBER 2026. We are a family of four and have small farm at the coast of the Baltic sea close to Oskarshamn. The farmhouse is more than a hundred years old and is located just a few meters away from a lake, which we can use exclusively for fishing, swimming and anything else. A good work-life-balance is very important for us, and this is also what we have in mind for our helpers. Hello HelpXers!! We need help to operate our small (18 bed) hostel in Murchison (Tasman district). The hostel is a large family home with a cosy central kitchen/living area with 5 bedrooms and a garden. Tasks may vary but will generally involve housekeeping (making beds, cleaning etc), checking in guests, and some outdoor work, general tidying of the garden. There is an opportunity for paid work here as well..up to 25hrs... (WHV essential), in our on-site restaurant/pizzeria!!!! (The Cow Shed Restaurant). We have an automotive country workshop where we fix and service cars, 4WDs, trailers, tractors and all sorts of machinery. In our spare time we look after our little farm, some sheep, some cattle and rabbits. We also have a forest where we work and tidy up occasionally. So we are always in need of a couple of helpful hands to support us. We love to get to know different cultures and people. We grow our own meat, fruit and vegetables. Gustav also brews his own beer and makes wine and cider and lately also green tea. A mature, non-smoking, self-organized person, preferable not a vegetarian, to give us a hand with house and land, would fit best into our lifestyle. You will have to join into our daily routines: breakfast is at around 7am and then we feed all the animals, especially the hungry dogs and work starts at 8am. I live in an old farm and farmhouse in Normandy. I have converted a cottage into a holiday cottage with 4 bedrooms (all en suite) and one barn into another. I also had a Yurt (now gone but the pictures are still there !!) and a campsite. I am a 47yr old englishman living with my greek partner. We have a large land in a small village - Velanidia - in the Peloponnese near the sea. The nearest town - Neapoly - is 30 minutes drive.
