Ipswich is a lovely place in itself and is about an hours drive to Brisbane, about an hour to the Gold Coast, about an hour and a half to the Sunshine Coast or about an hour to the mountains in Toowoomba. Many visitors to Australia assume it will be hot here and in summer it is, in winter the temperature can be very cold. Make sure to pack some warm winter clothing if travelling in the winter months. I don't have fans or air conditioning so the temperature is what it is. It's hot in summer and cold in winter. Electricity has become too expensive for me to run appliances. I am not on a farm, it is a residential block in Ipswich. My house is small and cluttered and surrounded by trees. I have a property situated 7km from Katherine Post Office on the way to the famous Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) 22km away. It has an extensive garden that needs up keep and help is needed to rid the block of introduced plants and weeds, Also removal of dead trees and general ground maintenance. Hola todas! My place is an old grain mill with half a hectare of land. I live here for more than 17 years and hosted many volunteers. Work is mostly in the garden. Weeding, digging, planting, watering, harvesting and off course eating. There is a big cat family living on the land. Help in the kitchen is welcome. Special dietary requirements must be met by the helpers. In the area there are many activities possible. More yoga teachers than there are yoga students. Meditations, dancing, healing, massage, channeling, singing,....! Many communities of all sorts (hippy, midwives, subud, soefie). Hiking in all directions. Even skiing starting beginning of December. Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to Routeburn and Greenstone tracks. Update, possible accommodation available for kiwifruit staff. My caravan is available, not fancy but clean & waterproof. I'm a beekeeper in need of assistance, either with the bees directly or not. I'm located 16km South of Te Puke on a property that has a back boundary of native forest. I'm usually able to host people at any time of year, but am busiest in the spring. I currently have building projects happening, as well as lots of painting, waxing new bee frames, and also hands on beekeeping for anyone who is keen. I also keep sheep and cattle on the property here, and hunt deer and pigs in the forest. These grass and forest fed animals form a large part of the menu here, so vegetarians probably won`t be happy with the diet. I cater to lots of herbivores and they all have hooves or paws. The accommodation is a spare room in the house. The house is a late 1800s villa in need of replacement, but it keeps the weather out and I find it comfortable. Housework isn't high on my priority ...
