A Sheep farm with around 640 ewes is looking for an assistance during lambing from about 15th of April till about 15th of June. It is preferred that the individual can stay for at least one month. At Icelandic sheep farms lambing season is a busy time as the ewes all lamb inside and sometimes need to be assisted. The lambs stay inside for the first few days and some need to be attended and helped with for example feeding. The sheep go to the mountains at the beginning of June together with the lambs and stay there until September. In the summer, we fixing fence, hay making and fix things that need to be fixed, whether it's houses or machines. We are a family of 6. We both work outside so we don’t have enough time to take care of all our land. [Update posted 08/01/25] The Crossing announces a change, a seed planted four years ago. For the past four years, the land belongs, as is fair and good, to a Tribal University and Land Grant University located on the Rosebud Reservation, home of the Sicangu Oyate, in South Dakota. Our donation of the property was formally accepted by Sinte Gleska University during September of 2020. Since then, the seed has sprouted and pushed roots of beginnings down into the soil and the sprout and it's cotyledons have come out into the sun. Last August, with an amazing gathering here of a group of people from The University, inipis (sweat lodge, in Lakota) were poured and prayers sent up to Creator, and the transition from private ownership to the establishment of Sinte Gleska University's welcomed and growing presence is forever engaged – the first true leaf has opened to the sunlight. 2 Small farms turned into the one near the West Coast of Clare. We keep lots of farm animals like cattle, horses, donkeys and sheep. We produce a wide range of vegetables for ourselves and some for selling. We have two children, went to primary Steiner/ Waldorf school; Frank (25) and Fina(21) and they love having volunteers around the place.
