If you arrive early enough at my kitchen window or even up on the jungle hill behind the cottage, you can see the sea and watch the sunrise. A 10 minute stroll down Eden Street gets you either to the CBD or to the shoreline. Hi, I am Tika. I am a teacher at the local government secondary school in Maipokhari village. I am living with my family in Sandakpur-3, Maipatal village in the Ilam district. There are 4 family members in our family. Me, my wife (dika), son (suman) and a daughter (sudha). The village is located around 600km from Kathmandu with an altitude of 2225 mt. The Ilam district is famous for its tea farms. We have our own organic farm, with fruit & herbal plants and a nursery consisting mainly of kiwi plants. We have also two cows. We are growing kiwi, black tea, ground apples, chickpeas, cucumber and beans. Volunteers are warmly welcomed to my farm as well as my family. Our family only settled during the middle of the last century, originally we descend from nomads, but have made a home in the Daraa Valley now. In walking distance to our house we have an organic farm, a 50 year old heritage from when my grandfathers settled down here. My name is Selly and I am the founder of an association. I live in the city of Morogoro in Tanzania, where I was born. I founded this association 4years ago with the aim of promoting access to education for children,Youth and-women in my country and hometown. Unfortunately, although Tanzania has exceptional wildlife and culture, access to education is marked by significant inequalities. Approximately 3.5 million school-age children and adolescents are not enrolled in school, and nearly 30% of children aged 5 to 14 are working, 94% of whom are in the agricultural sector. Additionally, child labor still affects approximately 4.2 million children aged 5 to 17. If you wish to get involved in our project, you are welcome, whether it be for the short or long term.
