We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. Hi. I was originally trying to make a living as a musician back in the uk, but brexit forced my hand and I had to leave. So I ended up in a small village beneath the mountains of Lousa in central Portugal. I have a small plot of land that already has fig, olive, and pear trees but i want to start growing my own crops. It´s all a bit new to me and with a lot of work still to be done on the house, it´s a bit overwhelming. So I´m looking for someone with green fingers or DIY skills or both. The local area is very green with lots of walking paths. Two towns are within 3 miles and the city of Coimbra is just 10 miles away. My village has two bars and a shop. Hi there :-) 🏡 About the place: In 2025, I bought a few old houses and land in a previously more or less abandoned village in the Italian Alps, Piedmont, in between Domodossola and Lago Maggiore. The village is located in a natural and peaceful environment in the heart of the mountains. The moment I came here, I fell in love with the peaceful energy. The land is very large, there are many trees and my dream of having a veggie and flower garden and maybe some animals. The house isn't finished yet, it’s in old condition style with electricity. Here with friends we are renovating a lovely typical stone house abandoned for years, to which we are giving a new life, using sustainable and traditional building techniques. We are a family of four (becoming five as we are expecting a baby in early October!) who live on a beautiful homestead in northern British Columbia, Canada. We have two daughters, aged 8 and 10, who are homeschooled and are with us every other week. We also have dogs, chickens, ducks, a horse (who currently lives nearby but off the property) and a large organic vegetable & fruit garden. Our property borders Ross Lake provincial park, and the lake is a five minute walk/bike ride down the road, where we can enjoy swimming, boating, fishing and trail networks. We are only five minutes’ drive from the town and amenities of New Hazelton, which is rich with Gitxsan Indigenous culture and pioneer history. We are seeking help with childcare (spending time with our two older children), farm/garden tasks, and/or building projects during the months of September and October. We are a small-scale, organic vegetable farm in Palmer, Alaska. We grow an array of beautiful produce which includes carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, zucchini, brussel sprouts, romanesco, broccoli, potatoes, rhubarb, onions, beets, and many more. All of the vegetables we sell at local farmers markets are grown by us and are free of pesticides, GMOs, and chemicals. We not only believe that people should feel connected to their food, but we also feel that it should be delicious, healthy, and accessible. Work on the farm varies by season. In the Spring we spend our time prepping the field, sewing seeds, growing transplants, cultivating those seeds in the field, weeding, and watering. As we move into summer and fall helpers will have the opportunity to harvest and sell the fruits and vegetables that have been growing the past few months at the local farmers’ markets.

One thing I can advise helpers who want to get a placement with any host is to have at least one PICTURE of YOURSELF. Just as you like to "see" who and where you are coming, hosts like to see who they are opening their home to. It's going into Summer now, so we need lots of outdoor help getting the property and garden cleaned up after such a long and hard winter. I need someone right away to help with small handyman jobs or selling online eg: eBay, marketplace etc. Knowledge of Carpentry and Plumbing are always appreciated. Car mechanics are always helpful. I would really appreciate someone who can do handyman jobs and wants to come for a week or two. I sell things online and on eBay and would love someone who is good at online selling in English.
