hello, I prefer requests that are for the near future, I don't like to plan too far ahead. This is an organic farm on a sheltered inlet, with horses, sheep, chickens, orchards, & gardens.. Needing help with keeping the grounds beautiful, repairs, building projects, harvesting, weeding, pruning, planting, and animal care. Near a busy village, bicycles offered, canoes, there are buses to take you around the island, hiking, swimming, artisans, markets. Sunsets are wonderful. The seaside jewel cabin is located in a private seaside spot with it's own bathhouse and kitchen nearby. The exchange is to volunteer 1.5 hrs. per day without food supplied. The work involves cleaning up after the horses or sheep (scooping poop) in the barn or on the grounds, then various projects for the balance of 1.5 hrs. We are renovating an old farm house in Beaufortain in the French Alps. The farm house is in a rural situation, but there are local shops, cafes, bakerys , banks etc nearby. We have renovated the ground floor, where we now live. It’s comfortable, very clean and homely. Our only heating is a log burning stove, burning wood from our own forest. There is a comfortable double room and a single room for helpers. We are now renovating the top two levels of the chalet. The walls are of timber construction and the roof is tin. We have completed all the internal insulation and are now building the internal walls, bathrooms, kitchen, plumbing and electrics. We aim to complete the renovation by the beginning of 2027. We will then move into the top floors of the chalet. After that we will be creating the exterior hard landscaping and developing our 1700m2 forest. We are a retired couple looking for help with projectis around the property. Some light construction might be involved,so carpentry skills would be helpful. We live on the banks of a world famous trout stream (White River) in the Ozark Mountains of North Central Arkansas. We have a neat cabin next door to our house that would be available. Work would involve working alongside Bill doing improvement projects around the property( fence building, painting the cabin, limb and brush removal and burning limbs as well as other outside jobs). We plan on working an average of 20 or so hours per week depending on the weather. We will provide lodging in the cabin and a couple of meals a day in exchange for your help. Good morning;. Just look outside this morning....OMG...6 inches of snow everyplace. We need the moisture for sure. My current helper who has been here just over 3 years [yes years],moved . He works in town full time, stayed here for free and helped with chores. I really need the help. He has been wonderful but needs a change. I need anyone short or long term. I do need someone for the winter months for sure. We have had 2 really great helpers already this spring. .Not as much to do as most years. Painting will have to get done this year.
