We live in a little village in a beautiful spacious farm house from the 18th century. It is a very special and strong place that we discovered in the year 00 destroyed and forgotten, and since then have been working hard to bring it back to life. And yes, successfully:).. We function as a social farm - giving employment to people with chronic psychiatric diseases. We also host yoga and other kinds of seminars. There is always some work in the farm... in the garden, making hay, preparing wood for winter, doing clay plasters, little repairs and cleanouts around the house etc. There is a nice countryside around here, ideal for biking (you can borrow bike here). I am looking for people that are passionate about dogs and like to spend time and work with dogs. A pack of 24 huskies is something different than having a pet dog at home. You will be able to join our animal assisted programs with kids and young adults and learn about it. I am educated in dog physiotherapy as well and there is the possibility to learn in this field as well. Beside the main topic the huskies we have bee hives and produce our own honey. Our property is 33ha of native forest with two creeks located in subtropical NSW, 15 km from Lismore and 50 min from Byron Bay. Our focus is on enhancing the natural habitat for the abundant wildlife including wallabies, goannas, echidnas and birds. Varied tasks include assisting us with gardening, bush regeneration, maintaining bush tracks, general house and property maintenance. Nearby is a city called Altus of 19,000 people with stores, bars, restaurants and entertainment. You are invited to our place, either just to visit or to stay and help out. We have 4 bedrooms for travelers and helpers in our guest house available for you (can accommodate probably up to 10 people) and there is also a game room, swimming pool (in the summer) and basketball court on the property.
