Assist over 500 sheep in giving birth and bottle feed tiny little lambs and all the other disgusting and cute things that go along with it. Lambing season is hard work and we work in shifts of 8 hours, but with 7-10 volunteers living in the house you’ll have time for fun in the sun, 2 days off each week with a household shift (cooking and cleaning). Our property is 33ha of native forest with two creeks located in subtropical NSW, 15 km from Lismore and 50 min from Byron Bay. Our focus is on enhancing the natural habitat for the abundant wildlife including wallabies, goannas, echidnas and birds. Varied tasks include assisting us with gardening, bush regeneration, maintaining bush tracks, general house and property maintenance. Our 5 acre Lifestyle block is situated in SouthWest Hamilton, within easy reach of Hamilton Gardens, the centre of town and Hamilton Airport ( all about 10 minutes away). We try to cultivate using the `no-dig` method and like to re-use and recycle wherever possible. Our house has solar panels on the roof for hot water and electricity, as we are keen to reduce our impact on the environment. Tena koe, nau mai, haramai ki Tokomaru Bay, a small, predominately Maori seaside community on the East Coast. We live on a four acre lifestyle block in the peaceful Kaiawha Valley about a two minute drive from the village and the beach. There is a 4 Square Supermarket, a cafe and a tavern in the village. We have a room with a queen bed in a sleep out, with helpers own separate lounge/kitchenette. Access to washing machine. The bathroom is inside the main house located a few metres away. Most of the work we require is gardening, landscaping, milking cow, feeding animals, preserving food, servicing our Bed and Breakfast (List 1 Historic Places building) firewood, weed eating, mowing and general maintenance. Jan is a teacher at a Kura Kaupapa Maori three days a week and Bill works from home developing Te Reo Maori learning resources for our local tribe and teaches Te Reo Maori one day a week.
