We're Manon, Alessandro and Brioche (I'm a dog) a little young family passionate about nature, travelling, independence, regenerative practices, agriculture, farming, gardening, trekking and life. After almost 10 years of working and travelling overseas we felt the the needs to set roots and to transform our dream in to a reality. We bought an old farm stable in ruins (dry stone building) inside a very small village and a few hectares of old chestnuts forest next to it. On one side we want to restore the old building using eco techniques, as much as we can, to transform it in to our house and on the other side we are developing a syntropic garden, a little orchard based on agroforestry systems principles that will also be applied to some parts of the chestnuts forest. We're located in South Ardèche, near the town of Joyeuse. The place is famous for its rivers, canyons and forests with plenty of hiking and biking trails, bathing spots, canyoning, rafting, climbing spots, old small vil...

We are a family run home, perfect for the 1st time volunteer. Natural horsemanship is a real factor here if you want to learn more. Our mentors being Buck Brannaman, Steve Halfpenny and Ken Falkner. A safe environment for your 1st time away from home. You do not need any knowledge of horses but you do need to love dogs, they are a major part of the family and are constantly with us all 8 of them, dalmations, vizslas and 2 weimararners, and they do jump all over you. Constant appaloosas is a small holding where we breed and train horses for ourselves and occasionally others. We have help exchange programs running throughout the year for interested students of all ages. Vet students get a really good grounding here. What we expect from you, conduct yourself in an open and friendly manner, engage in all aspects of life on the farm and seize all opportunities with enthusiasm, avoid rude and disrespectful behaviour to people horses and dogs. Basically show respect to people and our home,...

We are in the process of renovating an old house in the Pyrenees. There is only decorating to do such as stripping paint of walls and woodwork, and repainting. There might be the occasional carpentry to do also, nothing too complicated. We need help 5 hours per day, five days per week. Weeding, pruning trees, making paths. We are looking for help from two strong and healthy individuals to assist with a house redecorating project and gardening, trimming trees, path making etc. This requires physical strength and stamina. We live in a small village with some shops and a climbing centre and a river just opposite the house. We have a quite a size garden where we grow vegetables, fruit bushes and trees. I still need help from the begining of July and also in August For summer 2026 (June - September) I need one or two girls to help the bar, room service etc For autumn 2026 (October - November) I need help to close down PS: Please stop texting my WhatsApp number without a valid profile here or elsewhere. I am NOT going to text back. Apollon is a small fishing village in the northern Naxos. The distance from the port (Naxos Town) is 36km but the bus sometimes takes the long way through the mountains (52km). There are 3-5 buses daily from Naxos Town to Apollon and vise versa. The first bus leaves from Apollon at 7 in the morning and tha last at 18.00. The first from Naxos Town leaves at 9.00 and the last at 3.30. That's in the high season (July and August). In Apollon village there are no night clubs. The clubest place is the hotel bar and even this is chill out bar not a dancing bar. Apollon is a summer village. We are near the Shoalwater Marine Park and Penguin Island 40mins from Perth city centre. Very close to public transport, cafes and library. Ideal for beach walking, diving, swimming, cycling, fishing, sailing and windsurfing (beach is 60 metres away). Accommodation would take form of a fully insulated cute tiny garden room with access to undercover cooking area and bathroom. IT is small so please See photos. On week days we are usually working in Perth so we cant provide meals, but a well-stocked supermarket is 200 metres away. When possible we can take turns for meals if possible. We average 2/3 hours a day painting, plumbing gardening and other repairs and can negotiate best time to do that, for example maybe it’s more convenient to do two longer days during the week.Greg is usually available to help you with your car or take you fishing, boating or sightseeing if you’re willing to free him up from his other commitments. Hello, i would be happy for help. There is a lot to do on this place, mostly in the garden. Technical help, e.g. installation of solar panel, building a greenhouse, renovation of an old cattle house would also be needed. A carpenter and a bricklayer would be also great. We are vegetarian ! :-) We are a couple in our best age, and are here since 5 years. We want to build a small place for meditation and Qi Gong here. We want this to become a place for living and coming together. We would be happy to meet you.

NOTICE: DUE TO HEATWAVE HAVE LEFT FRANCE FOR COOLER PASTURES, WILL BE BACK IN SEPTEMBER. Hi, I’m Toby, 48, from the UK. I am slowly bringing back to life a beautiful old French farm property in the Dordogne. It was previously renovated into a 16-bedroom hotel back in 1990 and sits in peaceful rural countryside, surrounded by sunshine, wildlife, vineyards and quiet country views. The house is in the French wine region between Bergerac and Saint-Émilion, around 60 km from Bordeaux and just a few kilometres from Sainte-Foy-la-Grande train station. At the moment I am working on site mostly on my own while my family is back in the UK. Replacing windows, protecting the house from the weather and keeping the garden under control has become a lot of work, so I would really appreciate some friendly help. I used HelpX once before and had a good experience, so I thought I would try again this year. The kind of help I need: The work is not usually very technical or heavy. It would mostly b...

Hi, I'm Stu. I live on a lifestyle property just north of Dunedin, New Zealand, where I'm slowly building a place full of creativity, adventure, and self-sufficiency. During the week I work as an electrician, electrical inspector, and project manager, but most of my spare time goes into creating my dream property. There are always plenty of interesting projects happening here. Depending on the time of year, you might help with building and renovating, landscaping, gardening, fencing, painting, general maintenance, woodworking or solar power projects. If you enjoy learning practical skills and don't mind getting your hands dirty, you'll fit right in. The property is home to my two awesome kids part of the time, and I enjoy sharing meals, stories, and exploring the local area when time allows. Otago has incredible beaches, wildlife, forests, and hiking and mountain biking trails, so there's plenty to see on your days off. I'm looking for positive, reliable, and motivated people who en...

Kia ora! Seeking help all through the year. The home is a large Oamaru stone villa where my 20yr old son and our tabby cat live with me. Our work does take us away from home from time to time and we need help to maintain the existing gardens, and to redevelop some areas. I am redeveloping an area to become a vegetable garden and would love help with this. We have around 2 acres of garden - mainly flowers, hedges and mature trees with a pond which plays host to gold fish and attracts numerous dragonflies. The gardens are very tranquil. We host small events occasionally and sometimes run garden tours. Ideally, you'll have a bit of garden knowledge, but most importantly you'll be fit, have initiative and a willingness to muck in and help outdoors. The majority of work will be weeding, pruning, trimming. I expect 4 hours of productive work each day in exchange for accommodation, breakfast provisions for you to help yourself to, lunch and dinner. The accommodation is a bedroom in a s...

In 2005, my husband Terje and I, became the proud owners of this place and we spent the next 15 years renovating the property. Today we offer short-term accommodation in this historical building. Guests come to visit from all over the world. They come to Odda and the Hardanger area to experience and explore our unique landscape with glaziers, fjords, mountains, waterfalls, valleys and lakes. Hiking to Trolltunga is undoubtedly the most popular of the tourist attractions offered here in Odda. Other less famous attractions are just as breath-taking. We are a family of seven, with four daughters and a foster son, but our three eldest daughters have recently moved out to work and study. We would be most grateful if you would like to come and live with us, and help us with the housekeeping; cleaning, change of bedlinen, reception work, payments, as well as maintenance, carpentry, painting, gardening, childcare, pet care, and other activities like going fishing and having fun. We live on a small property eight minutes from Kerikeri township. We have a private lake and kayaks are available to explore. We used to run a bed and breakfast here so I guess we can say we dont bite and our place is clean and comfortable. Some animals and chickens on site. Fruit when in season. Having a vehicle to explore for times when you are not working is a must and there is no public transport here. We are meat eaters. We need help now throughout the year. I have some physical limitations and require help to get on top of STUFF. We have many trees that have been felled waiting for splitting with a fuel powered machine, paths needed to be built, gardening, general gardening tools available and I am also building a cottage. We've lived overseas for many years, including time in South America, Asia and the Middle East, and returned 15 years ago to start our 'off grid adventure'. Having 'internationalized' it's been time to put some roots down (literally) in a sustainable, creative and co-evolutionary way. These days we're a family of four (kids aged 13 and 10) with 3 dogs/chickens/guinea pigs. We speak some Spanish and a little Japanese and would receive foreigners eagerly (also fellow NZers of course). We're one hour's drive from the nearest towns (Kaitaia and Kerikeri) although a small organic co-op is twenty-five minutes away. Neighbours include a Bee-Keeper and his family, artists, potters and homesteaders, some of whom are open to receiving helpers who may wish to spend more time in the area. People wishing to learn about setting up off-grid so that they can do so themselves would be able to pick up valuable skills at our place. Helpers stay in either a fifteen by eight foot caravan with solar power...

Eloise is a nurse, Ngaio goes to school and loves nature and playing sport. We love travelling, so we understand the travellers lifestyle and love to meet people from other countries. We're open to new ideas and love to learn from other people. We have a little house close to the city centre in Christchurch with a large raised bed vege garden and fruit trees. We're also down the road from the Red Zone, where lots of houses were cleared after the earthquakes. It's a lovely place to explore. Hosting and educating helpers from mid April until end of October every year. I am a male from the UK, now living in France, and I have an interesting informative project in progress! Having lived off-grid in various locations over the past 20 years, I am based in the heart of the Languedoc Roussilon region (the worlds largest wine area). I currently have the basics set up in my re-purposed barn, including solar panel electricity for fridge, charging phones and laptops during day. Composting toilet, separate ladies no 1s toilet. Simple showers, we fill with buckets water from river. That warms quickly in the Mediterranean sun or you can heat hot water over our cooking fire. We also use a gas hob for cooking and hot drinks only. We get a good 4g and 5g signal here. I would particularly like help with basic supervised DiY, weed clearing, re-roofing, and renovation of the barn, along with tree and vegetable planting and care. I expect 20 hours work per week in return for food, wine and ac...

Hi, my name is Lin Zhao, the volunteer manager of this farm. After graduating from my university I have now decided to live and work on the farm, since I was born and grew up here. I really love this land. This farm belongs to our big family. It is overall primarily run by my uncle, though I will be your main contact person for the volunteering program. The farm is located in a small town called Jiuling, an hour drive from Mianyang city, Sichuan province, China. The farm is more than 300 hectares and it mainly lives on the swine business. We raise more than 5000 pigs, grow fruits (peach, grape, kiwi), peanuts and some vegetables. We employ about 150 local workers that help us running the farm. All the workers have their meals in the canteen together with the volunteers. Besides from pigs we have free-range chickens, goats and also some fishes in the different ponds. But this is not the only things we do. We also work on restoring the local ecological environment by reforestation bec...

Witchcliffe .. quirky hippie town with bars, restaurants and cafes just 8km from Margaret River. I live in an Eco Village, walking distance to Witchy town. Come experience village life and walk amongst its amazing gardens. We have three dams, the largest being our swimming and kayaking haven. We each own our own homes and between about 20 houses, we share a communal cluster house orchard and chickens. My guest accommodation is in a converted shed with its own lounge, bathroom and loft sleeping. It has lovely views. Food - Witchcliffe has some restaurants and a small local shop for fruit, vegetables and lots of yummy foods. Helping hours - I’m flexible ie if the surf is up, work after the wind has come in. Want to go away overnight, then work more hours when here. Jobs to be done: Painting (just some finishing work to be done on garden structures) . Pruning, moving mulch, weeding, laying paving bricks. Building gardens for vegetables.

June 2026 update. Carpentry help, painting, gardening, Carpentry Gardening Painting Building Hello, I am an Irish woman renovating a 170yr old cottage in the woods in Värmland. We have converted the attic into a lovely bright and spacious 50m2 room that would be plenty of space for 2-3 people. There are also plenty of soft green areas for camping and camper van. The surrounding forest is full of gorgeous wandering trails which lead to beautiful crystal clear lakes perfect for swimming. I would appreciate the help of about 1-2 strong people and will provide 3 organic (where possible) vegetarian meals per day, bed with bed linen, and meditation guidance if wished in exchange for 5 hours help per dayo. I'm happy to discuss other fair exchange arrangements in our pre aarrival communication. A carpenter, plumber or electrician would be fantastic!! There's great pizza 2km away or if you are exploring the city of Karlstad (45mins by bus) or Filipstad (20km)there are lots of great...
