We are a cultural and arts community that is working towards being self-sustained. The community is situated in the mountains of Monchique, Portugal surrounded by nature. Our community provides an alternative way of living with permaculture gardens, farm animals, sustainability projects, and arts and cultural workshops. It is a great place to come to meet other like-minded people if you are passionate about sustainability and alternative living. We hold community meetings throughout the week alongside activities and workshops, such as quiz nights, dance nights and yoga classes. If you have something you are passionate about and want to share with others, we would love for you to run a workshop. One of the best things here is the variety of tasks you can do as a volunteer, which gives you the opportunity to learn new skills and discover what you enjoy doing most. We have a combination of short-term and long-term volunteers and on average we have between 10 to 20 volunteers and resident...

Hi everyone, We are a busy farming family based in South Taranaki, milking 440 cows and sharing our farm with a bunch of chickens. We met 10 years ago, when I was travelling New Zealand as a backpacker, and we've loved hosting travelers ever since. We have three energetic boys who adore the outdoors. Life here is active and relaxed- you'll often find us outside riding motorbikes on the farm, heading out for walks, or exploring the area with the kids on their bikes. We're really looking forward to welcoming travelers again, hearing your stories, and giving our boys the chance to meet people from different cultures. At the moment, we'd appreciate help with jobs such as weed spraying on the farm and getting the gardens sorted. You'll be staying in a spacious 6 bedroom home with unlimited wifi and you'll have your own private bedroom with bathroom. There is loads to see and do around us- we're just 10 minutes from town and the bach, Tawhiti museum is nearby and the mountain tracks are...

I'm Thanasis, a 45 years old greek man living in the South of the Peloponnes. I'm a farmer, with oranges trees and some olive trees. I also have a shop, mainly selling coffee that I roast on site. I need help all the year to maintain the big farm (orange and olive harvest, trees pruning, pick-up fallen oranges, and so on..) If you come, you will have your own room (1 for a couple or separate), and access to all the rest of the house (kitchen, bathroom...). I like to share the meal, and provide food if you want to cook. You also can use WI-FI connection. You could enjoy the life between the farm and the city of Skala Lakonia, wich offer a lot of coffee shop, restaurants, and any kind of stores. Minimum stay is 2 weeks, to allow time to learn about life on the farm. I need help for a maximum of 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, depending on the weather. I really like to meet new people and introduce them to Greece history. I practice karaté (three times per week) and would be happy t...

I am an Irish filmmaker, recently relocated to France. I have just bought a 150 year old French Manor House(20+ rooms) and two giant barns, which I am converting into an independent film studio, as well as a recording studio and artists studios. I plan to run Kino Kabaret filmmaking events here as well as writer retreats and film industry masterclasses. I also plan to hold outdoor theatre in the summer. I also love to cook and try new dishes so look forward to cooking with travellers. Outside there is an in ground swimming pool which needs to be repaired in time for summer Inside the house it is mainly painting and decorating as I bring the various salons and bedrooms back to their former glory. I need to lay floor tiles in a few rooms and wood in a couple more. In the barns I need help building a 30 seat cinema/screening room, editing suites as well as the recording studio. Altogether there are a huge amount of tasks and something suitable to all skill levels. Helpers will have their ...

DOES ANYONE LIKE THE COLD? Everyone thinks Tasmania is cold but as I write, it's 26 degrees here today and I am relaxing at the beach. I haven't been on this site for seven years. I used to have regular HelpXers and Woofers but then retired, and everything is pretty much done at home now. I travel a lot, still work one day a week but am basically retired. Live with my daughter who is rarely at home due to work. I am a City Host, 15 minutes walk to Hobart CBD, direct bus outside my house (into the city within 7 minutes) and a seven minute easy walk down to the local suburban shopping centre of Sandy Bay. I am close to the main route leading south to the famous Tasmanian wilderness area and directly beneath kunayni/ Mt Wellington, 20 minutes drive to the summit from my home. I am a seasoned traveller (lived/worked in Hong Kong for the past 13 years as an English teacher for the HK Education Dept) and so can help in language aquisition if required. I also spend several months of the...

We have an island retreat in Nelson (near Motueka) on 10 acres and a home in central Nelson. There is plenty to do with weeding, taking care of the garden and cutting grass. Our beach house, near Motueka is on a small island. The ideal helper(s) is self sufficient, detail oriented and a self starter. Our island retreat is about 100 metres off Port Motueka, then another kilometre along the beach, facing Tasman bay and across from the Abel Tasman National Park. Our home in central Nelson is a 5 minute walk from down town. We have 2 Kayaks and an SUP. So hope you like the water. The work consists of gardening and general housekeeping. An average of about 3 hours work per day is sufficient. Recommend a week stay or more because of the logistics of getting you there and showing you around etc. It is an "off the grid" solar home. There is a limited wifi that is sufficient for email, and internet. We will supply some but not all food. (depends on the situation) We usually h...

We can use your help for minimally three weeks. At this time we could use the help of someone who likes to cook. You would be of great help if you would cook one vegetarian meal a day (not in the weekends) for the three of us: you, Astrid and Thomas. We have no supermarket at hand for forgotten ingredients, so you have to like it to be creative with what is available. Apart from the cooking, it would be great if you would help with the routine jobs: taking care of the chickens and the sheep, do some pruning, carrying stuff, cleaning, irrigating, harvesting, etc. etc. ======================= Who are we looking for? The helper (in exceptional occasions two) we are looking for likes to live a basic life, and enjoys being outside. Enjoyed nature as a child already? Then you will find our place wonderful. There is some clothing for you but not in all sizes, so please bring your own working clothes, shoes and rainwear. We ask you to help us 25 hours a week. We have helpers since 2010. I...

We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. Graham has some woodworking skill but needs help during that time with various tasks and we are willing to give you a comfortable bed, good food and company and access to bathroom and washing machine in exchange for 4 hours help per day, 5 days per week. Our preference is for a single person or couple who have some skil...

My name is Victor and I have been teaching English to young people from my community for 8 years. I have a small school in downtown Tehuantepec near the market, banks, restaurants, and the tropical forest full of coconuts, bananas, and mangoes. Tehuantepec is located 20 minutes from the ocean beach community, Salina Cruz. I am located only a five minutes taxi ride from the local bus station. I am looking for one person at a time to come and work with my students, which includes conversing with my students and teaching if you are able to. Winter January 2026 Wow, exploring right outside our backdoor along side the Campbell River on Vancouver Island, is a beautiful place to experience Vancouver Island`s great outdoors this winter with all the wild life right in our back yard :) Although we live on a one acre town lot, our back yard is situated on a cliff over looking an accessible beautiful heritage river, with a nature park setting of ferns, Douglas fir, maple and alder trees. You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the river’s pools. We have trail access to the river below, where you can enjoy listening to the sing song of many birds, tubing down the river/swimming in the heat of the summer, and trying your hand at casting for Steelhead fish. As well, our neighborhood is the access point to many scenic nature hiking, walking and biking trails. The ocean photo was taken a couple of miles from my home and all other photos are of my house ...

Ben and I (Polly) live in the beautiful northern beaches suburb of Kewarra Beach, located a 25 minute drive north from the centre of Cairns, Far North Queensland. We live on a standard suburban block in a four bedroom, 2 bathroom simple home. We love our garden and specifically growing tropical fruits and vegetables - there is always something to pick and eat! We have bantam chickens who roam the yard by day. We are in our late 30s, are both full time workers, working from home, Monday to Friday. We travel a little for work so will need to work around those dates. We are after 1-2 helpxers at a time, ideally for a 1-2 week stay, to help us with our garden, painting the outside of our house (depending on your experience, the weather) and other general house items. On the weekends when we are not working we will be working along side you too. As it is hot we find working earlier in the morning or later in the day best for the outside jobs. We provide a bedroom with either two sin...

Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to routburn and greenstone tracks.you will need your own internet connection as I don't supply wifi. ,a bit isolated, not for the precious,no trophy hunters !! .please don`t apply unless you intend to come for a minimum stay of two weeks. One person only.we do not get involved with internships or visa applications.vegetarians and vegans would probably not be comfortable as we eat meat daily. I am off grid and totally dependent on solar, so you have to charge your devices during the day and definitely no hairdryers ! Accommodation is a house bus in warmer weather or a room in the house in winter, not shared usually. Lastly I also play the guitar ( badly ) and sing ( worse ) ,but it's all about smile not style :-) Cheers Al

Currently looking for Helpers Prefer Helpers over 25 (non smokers) Hi my name is Anthony and I live in Red Hill with my son Louis. We are located on the Mornington Penninsula just over an hour (by road) from Melbourne. Rolling hills dotted with vineyards and surrounded by the sea, this region is one of Melbournian's most popular "weekend getaway" destinations. Wake up to the singing birds in a log cabin set amongst the tree tops, boarded by an organic apple orchard and fringed by forest. Home to friendly and colourful native bird life and visited by a family of cheeky possums each night. Lovely walks to restaurants, markets and our general store. I have too many projects to handle by myself as I care for my 9 year old most weekends and some nights during the week. The projects are varied and include; clearing vegetation, maintaining the organic vegetable garden, planting native trees and shrubs, splitting wood (by machine), building a wood fired oven, setting up chicken coup, ...

Come and get a real taste of Nu Zelan! Home brew, home made breads and fresh fish; fruit and veg from the garden. Swim at the beach across the road, go fishing or take out the kayaks (experience+wearher dependent). Jungle crash up the creek. Take the bike and pedal 2km to Waiomu then 1hr return tramp/jog to some beautiful Kauri. Do an overnighter to The Pinnacles Hut up the Kauranga Valley if yr into the vast iconic view and like tramping. If you have wheels you can do great day trips around the Peninsula. And if yr more chill, Thames has some great op-shops. Debs & I are happy boomers on the endless holiday ! Loving every second left. However, as we move into the dotage we need help with the massive task of #296, so we are keen to have people who want to help. We enjoy welcoming solo travellers from anywhere, any age, who are comfortable speaking English and value shared living, simple routines and shared respect. Your help will help me realize a ten-year plan. 1. To create gar...

We live on a peninsula on the stunning Waimea Estuary with views over the water & mountains. Our peninsula is great for afternoon walks or runs, with swimming off the end in summer. We have a double kayak so you can go kayaking on the estuary that we live on. We have lots birdlife - tui, piwakawaka, pheasants, pukeko, quail, hawks & kārearea (native Falcon). We are looking for help with a variety of work on our property, including gardening, feeding the cattle, cleaning, painting, firewood & cooking. We love to try different meals from your country! We have an orchard with apricots, pears, apples, peaches, plums, figs & apples so you can wander around the trees in season & eat straight off the tree. We have had Helpx visitors for about nine years & the trees planted by our early Helpx are now over four metres tall! All together we’ve planted over 5000 plants. We’ve stayed in touch with many of our Helpx visitors & caught up with some in Europe & Malaysia. Our daughters have even ...
