Summer openings for some of August Wow, exploring right outside our backdoor along side the Campbell River on Vancouver Island, is a beautiful place to experience Vancouver Island`s great outdoors this SUMMER with all the wild life right in our back yard :) Although we live on a one acre town lot, our back yard is situated on a cliff over looking an accessible beautiful heritage river, with a nature park setting of ferns, Douglas fir, maple and alder trees. You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the river’s pools. We have trail access to the river below, where you can enjoy listening to the sing song of many birds, tubing down the river/swimming in the heat of the summer, and trying your hand at casting for Steelhead fish. Hi, my name is Lin Zhao, the volunteer manager of this farm. After graduating from my university I have now decided to live and work on the farm, since I was born and grew up here. I really love this land. This farm belongs to our big family. It is overall primarily run by my uncle, though I will be your main contact person for the volunteering program. The farm is located in a small town called Jiuling, an hour drive from Mianyang city, Sichuan province, China. The farm is more than 300 hectares and it mainly lives on the swine business. We raise more than 5000 pigs, grow fruits (peach, grape, kiwi), peanuts and some vegetables. We employ about 150 local workers that help us running the farm. i have been on couchsurfing network for years hosting many people.. and i think this HelpX network is a great idea. Actually i prefer it now. I am flexible with my time (especially during the week days) and love to hang out and make new friends.. In the summer I travel around Victoria and Australia a lot, going on road trips with friends and many music festivals -camping in the bush etc.. We currently have availablity from around 29 September to around 8 October for a period of a week, and maybe a bit more. NOTE: We usually take one person for a week at a time, can do less if required. House, conveniently located near Adelaide city (South Australia ) and Glenelg beach. Next to public transport (about 30 minutes via bus to the city). Close by there is a 24-hour convenience supermarket, gas station, shopping mall, discount supermarket and large 24-hour pharmacy/ chemist warehouse. Tasks that are available to be done may include: general light gardening, removing weeds, cleaning gutters, basic paving, cleaning, washing of car, vacuuming, dusting, mopping floors, filing paperwork. I live in an old farm and farmhouse in Normandy. I have converted a cottage into a holiday cottage with 4 bedrooms (all en suite) and one barn into another. I also had a Yurt (now gone but the pictures are still there !!) and a campsite. With the guest-accommodation, farm and further buildings to be converted, I could always do with an extra pair of hands. Skills can range from building, painting, cleaning, farming and general maintenance. Someone with a sense of humour would be great. I enjoy music so you may find all sorts playing, from classical to Genesis, Roxy Music to London Grammar! Open for helpers from mid February until mid December. Not outside this period. Small farm without any farming since the land is rented out, but the forest is maintained by me. Also have a vegetable garden and berry bushes and lots of machines like tractors, ATV, snowmobile etc. I have 2 sons that are visiting regularly. Tasks can be gardening, carpentry, painting houses, general house work or forest work. Also might need mechanical help with machines. I live between Port Gregory & Horrocks Beach, 85km north of Geraldton and 80ks south of Kalbarri. Northampton is 30kms away. Our Farm backs onto the Hutt River with water in there all year round. Beautiful wildflowers from May-October. Really is a magical place to live or visit!!! We often need helpers to help out on the farm in exchange for Accommodation. Not a paid position. We have a Bus you can use for accommodation with a Queen bed in it and 2 singles. Outside shower and toilet. We can provide you with some meat. But you will be responsible for doing your own meals. We have quite a few horses and a pony so horse experience would be good but not necessary. Or if you would like to learn to ride or handle a horse. We have chickens, dogs, cats and about 200 sheep with lambs and about 30 cows with calves.
