Charles and his daughter, 18 year old Alexandra (Lexi). An English family live on an olive farm on the edge of the Ionian Sea in the Western Peloponnese, 20km west of Ancient Olympia. We have 400 olive trees, which produce approximately 2 tons of olive oil annually. We also produce a large amount of our own food from an extensive vegetable garden. Animals may include chickens, turkeys, sheep, pigs, 4 dogs and many cats. We are looking for help with the olive harvest, from roughly mid-November through until Christmas. After Christmas is the time for general maintenance, cleaning land, rebuilding terraces etc. In return for your exertions, we hope to offer you a unique insight into the lifestyle of rural Greece, the traditional methods of olive husbandry, and especially the food, wine and culture of the Peloponnese. We are sorry to say that we would prefer that you were not vegan or vegetarian (during the olive harvest it is hard to cater for different diets).

We are a warm Norwegian family of four: Helen (49) Kenneth (56) and our two teenage sons 16 and17). Although we are Norwegian, we spent 12 years living abroad. From 2013 to 2020 we lived full time in Thailand, immersed in a large international expat community and traveling extensively across Asia. After covid we joined the global worldschooling community, living first in Spain and then in Bansko, Bulgaria. We later returned to Thailand, welcoming worldschooling families and traveling friends into our home to guide them and introduce them to Asian culture as they planned their journeys around Asia. We then spent a winter with the worldschooling community in Switzerland before returning home to Norway about a year ago. Our home is full of open minded conversations, good food, and sharing cultures. We have no staff or commercial business, and all activities are strictly for our private family life. Having lived abroad for many years, both of our properties need gentle care and attenti...

We are a family of 5, four years ago we bought land in an abandoned village in the picturesque mountains of Galicia in Northern Spain to pursuit freedom and play loud music outdoors. Our family is a mix of dutch, french and latino cultures: you'll always find wine, cheese and arepas on our table. We speak english, spanish, french, portuguese, dutch and some german. As new residents are moving in to repopulate the village ( 3 more residents and temporary visitors coming and going) , this season we need help mostly with the outdoors: Splitting wood and stacking it for the winter, building an electric fence to host three sheep, preparing one field for potato farming, clearing land, upgrading our bar/outside kitchen and mowing land. In exchange of 3-4h of work per day ( weekends off) we provide a private room and three meals per day. On your days off you're free to just chill, go hiking and explore the ruins around the village or just do whatever you feel like. Here you can learn to use a...

Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to Routeburn and Greenstone tracks. You will need your own internet connection as I don't supply wifi. A bit isolated, not for the precious, no trophy hunters!! Please don't apply unless you intend to come for a minimum stay of two weeks. One person only. We do not get involved with internships or visa applications. Vegetarians and vegans would probably not be comfortable as we eat meat daily. I am off grid and totally dependent on solar, so you have to charge your devices during the day and definitely no hairdryers! Accommodation is a house bus in warmer weather or a room in the house in winter, not shared usually. Lastly I also play the guitar (badly) and sing (worse) but it's all about smile not style :-) , please don't come if you have a heavy cold or flu, I'm involved with the elderly. Cheers Al

OPPORTUNITIES ARE NOW CLOSED - END OF THE SEASON 31 of AUG. - NEXT OPENING JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2027 (follow our social media Living_in_birkavikingastaden for next opening) In the mid-700’s, a city was born on Björkö in Lake Mälaren named Birka, a location, which is commonly called Sweden’s first town. It is believed that it was the Swedish King who took the initiative to form the city as part of a desire to control the trade in northern Scandinavia, both politically and economically. The Swedish King himself was living a few kilometers away, at a place called Hovgården on Adelsö. At that time it was the King’s duty to keep order in the city and protect it from being looted. Birka – the perfect trading area: Merchants and tradesmen came to Birka with goods from all over Europe and other parts of the world. We know this through archaeological excavations, were they found Arabic silver, beads from Eastern Europe, beautiful glass goblet, ceramics and exclusive fabrics. These goods were tra...

We're Manon, Alessandro and Brioche (I'm a dog) a little young family passionate about nature, travelling, independence, regenerative practices, agriculture, farming, gardening, trekking and life. After almost 10 years of working and travelling overseas we felt the the needs to set roots and to transform our dream in to a reality. We bought an old farm stable in ruins (dry stone building) inside a very small village and a few hectares of old chestnuts forest next to it. On one side we want to restore the old building using eco techniques, as much as we can, to transform it in to our house and on the other side we are developing a syntropic garden, a little orchard based on agroforestry systems principles that will also be applied to some parts of the chestnuts forest. We're located in South Ardèche, near the town of Joyeuse. The place is famous for its rivers, canyons and forests with plenty of hiking and biking trails, bathing spots, canyoning, rafting, climbing spots, old small vil...

We are in the process of renovating an old house in the Pyrenees. There is only decorating to do such as stripping paint of walls and woodwork, and repainting. There might be the occasional carpentry to do also, nothing too complicated. We need help 5 hours per day, five days per week. Weeding, pruning trees, making paths. We are looking for help from two strong and healthy individuals to assist with a house redecorating project and gardening, trimming trees, path making etc. This requires physical strength and stamina. PLEASE NOTE WELL: we absolutely cannot host anyone with any pre-existing health issues, physical or mental (we are not medically trained to manage such conditions), such as hay fever, any other allergies, sensitivities or intolerances. We live in a small village with some shops and a climbing centre and a river just opposite the house. We have a quite a size garden where we grow vegetables, fruit bushes and trees. Hello Potential Volunteers My name is Paul and it was my dream to change my lifestyle from being an office worker to becoming an alpaca farmer.... here we are 14 years later with 100 alpacas, each individually cherishes with names and unique personalities, plus an assortment of other animals all needing our love :) I have three children: Liam (21), Dylan (9) and Oscar (6), and our 100-acre farm is home to approx.100 alpacas, plus llamas, peacocks, hens, mini pigs, a cat named Sexy, and our farm dog Malta. This year we are expecting 20 'cria' (baby alpacas) and each one will need our help so they can thrive! We need to ensure they get colostrum (filled with antibodies and vital for good health) – have they fed from their mums within the first 24hrs? Are they then drinking enough milk from their mums every day? Are they gaining weight? The well-being of my animals is the most important thing on the farm. Do they have good food and enough water, and the best possible natural environme...

We are beekeepers in a small village near Bayonne, in the south west of France. We live in an old typical farm of the area with animals (one dog, two cats, chickens and millions of bees). We have near to 150 hundred hives which produce different honeys (heather, chestnut, acacia,...). For that we`re moving it in different areas. We are also making some pastry with our honey and we are selling the production on the local shops. We are also gardening, cooking and doing some DIY works at farm. We would please to welcome to you.

We are looking for two people with building and practical experience with building or fencing, building steps, planting/gardening and who enjoy physical, mostly outdoor work. Our jobs require practical experience, or willingness to learn - gardening, cleaning, spraying, weed-eating, washing the house, windows etc. We don't currently have airbnb guests so you would get to stay in the luxury airbnb unless we get a booking, then you would either sleep in a sofa bed in the cabin or if you prefer your van and just use our shared spaces. We love hosting travelers and enjoy also getting jobs done on our list. With having 10 acres to care for, there is always something to do. We will give you food and accommodation in exchange for 4 hours of work. We love having first time helpers and help you map out your journey in the north or just help you get used to being in NZ. Would like an energetic couple or single person to help out with gardening, and housework. We would expect about 4-5 hours help a day in return for free accommodation and meals. Large bedroom and own bathroom. We have animals so, would prefer someone who enjoyed them being around. There are many wonderful places to explore in Hawkes Bay when you are not working. Fantastic cycle ways, tramping trips into the native bush areas, beaches and wonderful wineries. Prefer you to have your own car to get around and beable to see the region.

I've previously been a Helpx host with my family winery and vineyard, as well as my farm property south of Adelaide. These days the winery is winding down, but in the past 18 months I've tripled the farm size to 130Ha (325ac). I'm currently growing hay and agisting sheep, with dozens of kangaroos for company. The farm is minutes from Victor Harbor (population 16,000), but the feeling is remote, as neighbouring houses can't be seen. The big projects at the moment are fencing and laying pipework for water for the sheep. There's also things like cutting firewood, machinery maintenance, road building, shed building and looking after a patch of native scrub. I have a covered orchard and the beginnings of a veggie garden, but I have no idea what I'm doing, so someone who could help with that would be much appreciated. The property is off-grid, but has all the modern conveniences of power, water, heating and air conditioning, all of which I've done myself. Most of the time you would be wo...

Last year I bought a fairly solid but quite run down cabin in need of restoration deep in the forest in Hadeland, Norway (about 1h 15m from Oslo), which I am trying to bring back to life. The place is just about beginning to be habitable again. I’m looking to share this space with independent travelers, groups or anyone who wants a getaway in such a location and might enjoy lending a hand, what Norwegians might call a “dugnad”. There are no set working hours and no strict expectations. You are primarily here to enjoy the environment, potter around and contribute what you can. If you are the kind of person who gets restless just sitting around and has an itch to scratch when it comes to DIY, landscaping, or tinkering with a house, you are my ideal guest..Especially if you have relevant know-how. I live and work in Oslo, visiting the cabin during my free time and weekends. When I’m there, I’d love some company, a helping hand, and to share meals together. When I’m back in Oslo, you’ll ...

We are a cultural and arts community that is working towards being self-sustained. The community is situated in the mountains of Monchique, Portugal surrounded by nature. Our community provides an alternative way of living with permaculture gardens, farm animals, sustainability projects, and arts and cultural workshops. It is a great place to come to meet other like-minded people if you are passionate about sustainability and alternative living. We hold community meetings throughout the week alongside activities and workshops, such as quiz nights, dance nights and yoga classes. We are situated in one of the largest Cork Tree areas in the world.Mediterranean forest ecoystems are considered one of the most important ecosystems right after Virgin Forests. The closest train station is Beenleigh. Your own car is a plus. We welcome working holiday visa holders with good horse experience and most importantly a passion for horses !! After an intense house renovation, we are now entering the final phase, focusing on cleaning and refreshing the house. From APRIL (for about one month), we are looking for help with PAINTING work inside and outside, as well as some light gardening tasks such as weeding. This period is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and likes to see visible results at the end of the day. From JUNE onwards, as the weather becomes warmer, the help will mainly consist of daily HOUSEKEEPING tasks (cleaning, ironing), with occasionally some light gardening. We’ve found that this experience works best for people who enjoy staying active and contributing in a practical way to daily life. We truly appreciate volunteers who bring positive energy, a hands-on mindset, and a genuine willingness to help. We are a Belgian family who has been living in France for over 20 years. In our late fifties, we speak French, Dutch, English, and a bit of Spanish. Our home is located in the beautiful r...

Here, we have spectacular mountain views on our do...

Chris loves playing games and we also have a hot tub. Most of the time we have a beautiful black Labrador called K...
