Hello, we are a Christian family. Originally from the United states we are now starting an organic farm and Christian outreach and community center here in Costa Rica. Currently we are in the beginning stages of seeking help. The first volunteer we need is some one who has a good understanding of construction and can do repairs on some of the buildings on the property, laying tile, roof repairs, etc and maybe some side help with cutting the grass. In exchange for this help, we will provide a place to live. At this time we can only commit to short term opportunities, a couple of weeks, or one to three months. However we are hoping by Gods grace and provision one day be able to build small places for people to stay. However, our main goal is not to build buildings. We want to build the Kingdom of God. Our hearts desire is to reach the lost, so if you feel lead to evangelize and share the gospel in in Costa Rica we would also love to hear from you. Even if you cannot help with the co...

Hello!! “Spring cleaning” time! Just in time for “winter”! Help with general maintenance, cleaning, organizing and clearing land and small construction projects in bamboo, wood and found objects. Outdoor shower. Water storage system. As the rainy season is coming, I will clear different areas to plant various crops, like popcorn, quinoa, guandule, etc. Greetings! (This is an opportunity for 1 (one) person only please;) 8 km north of Sámara near a small village (pop 250) called Esterones, my property sits on a hill in the jungle about 15 minute walk from that village. You will find a small supermarket, a restaurant, a cevicheria and a tiny hardware store(they don't have WIFI;). Walk a bit further and you will find 3 world class beaches. It's about an hour walk to Sámara. The closest bus stop is about 45min walk with only occasional service but ‘hitchhiking’ is perfectly normal mode of transportation here. This is a chance to get to know a special part of Costa Rica, I've been in love...

We are a local Costa Rican family living on a small organic farm. We are in the process of creating a sustainable living situation by utilizing permaculture techniques, protecting the forest that surrounds us, and participating in our local economy. 10 acres are dedicated to chemical-free agriculture demonstrating functioning agroforestry and permaculture. Water is plentiful here, thanks to abundant rainfall and the waterfalls of the property. The soil is diverse while rich in minerals is also fairly acidic. Over the past several years, we are recovering this soil by regularly hand tilling the earth and fertilizing with rich compost produced onsite, including companion plants, and a mixture we make from microorganisms gathered in the forest. We are beyond organic; we are chemical free. Our dedication to chemical-free agriculture extends to our fruits and vegetables. The seeds give birth to a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, spices and medicinal plants. and more. This is a family r...

UPDATE** For July 2020 and onward, we are seeking an individual or couple who are interested in helping us long term, with our renewed vision for our 5 acre vacation property. We are in a time of transition and considering new options. For the past 10 years we have been a short term vacation rental property. We have now become a long-term rental with a conscious community minded approach. This said, an important aspect of the volunteer position we are looking to fill, is someone with collaborative creative social media and marketing abilities to help with listing the available casitas on different platforms and revamping our social media presence. The ideal volunteer(s) would also have various skills, as well as tending to the vegetable gardens (which you are welcome to enjoy the harvest). If you'd like to offer your skills in these domains and are available for long term exchange, we would love to hear from you! We have lived in many places around the world and have settled in ...

CURRENTLY ONLY LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE WILLING TO COME FOR AT LEAST A MONTH FROM MID-JUNE Hi there! My name is Claire, I was born in France and have been living in Costa Rica for almost 5 years now. I own a small house near the town of Bribri and I have started all kind of projects such as creating a permaculture garden and renovating the house into a sustainable one. The town I live in is located between the sea, the mountains, and Indigenous protected areas, in a pretty quiet area of Costa Rica, surrounded by forests and rivers. I have dogs and cats. It is a great place to enjoy peace and relax, while reconnecting to nature. Even though I aim to turn the dream of living sustainably into a reality, I had a very demanding job these last two years and couldn't keep up with the projects I had started... I recently got a job that gives me more free time, and a have a lot to do between the maintenance of the house and the outside area, and all the other projects. I am looking for volu...

We have a plant nursery and greenhouse which we use as microclimates to grow plants that are sensitive to the humidity in our region. In our farm laboratory, we prepare different biocontrollers such as trichoderma, lecanicillium and beauveria bassiana. We also prepare extracts from plants like gavilana (Neurolaena lobata), lemon grass, cinammon and madero negro (Gliricidia sepium). Accommodation is a simple Earthen Hut. Vertical Teak panels as well as a metal roof. The floor is earthen. Suitable for people who love plants/animals. Any supplies such as what you like to consume from town are a bit of an inconvenience because of the rough path requires a 4x4 for driving the closest kilometer, the place is about 8-9km from town. Walking is a healthy option although taxis are available if you hire although that option isn't complimentary. We may be able to go to town in my vehicle once in a while but that is something we strive to minimize. The work here is mostly keeping the place happy, healthy. Putting physical effort in when necessary. A lot of the work will require being able to use tools like a shovel or pick as well as a fork. Being able to use a variety of tools is an asset, or being able to learn quickly is also a great asset if this is unfamiliar. Whatever your skill set may be potentially integral, for instance website creation, as well as a variety of othe...

I have a small farm in a mountainous region of the Nicoya Penninsula. I grow oranges and coffee. Some of my coffee is organic but there is no status. We will be picking coffee in late November to late December. The orange picking varies. The older I become, the less enthusiastic I’ve become regarding gardening and farm upkeep. I wouldn’t be a good choice if you are looking to learn about crops, organic gardening, or animal husbandry. I’m past all that and the most I would ask of you is to help repot plants, weed and water the garden, clean the pool, vacuum the house, or prepare a meal. I’m retired! I have a small organic garden and like to provide some of my own vegetables since I’m vegan. If you have gardening skills that would be awesome or if you have experience pruning citrus trees that would be helpful.. You would be staying in my house which is small but unique and overlooks the pacific on one side and the gulf on the other. It is an open plan with not much privacy except...

This place is a nomadic hub focused on inclusion, self-discovery, permaculture, and communal living. Persistently embarking in the flow of life by facilitating transformative events on bamboo building, permaculture, sacred silliness, and exploration into self. The Morphian family is a nomadic intentional community, which is a new take on creating bonds with one another while exploring the vast world around us. Rooted in 2014, we found ourselves tucked away in the lush jungles of Costa Rica on 5.2 hectares of beachfront magic surrounded by indescribable primal energy from the rainforest. This Finca began with a primary permaculture focus. Over the years we have managed to maintain many aspects of the permaculture principles while simultaneously growing into more practices centered on self-love. We offer a unique experience to sit with nature, others, and alone. To let go, recharge, and integrate. INTENTIONS On the farm we are beginning and continuing the long journey of self aware...

We are a Costa Rican family of 5 living and working on a small farm. Located in a lush green valley, we are currently working ½ a hectare of our 3 hectare farm. We are in the process of becoming organic, and are working towards getting organic certification in the near future with your help. Our dream is to have a fully self-sustainable farm, eventually producing enough to sell locally as well, and to leave a positive legacy for future generations. As volunteers on our farm, you will help us realize our dreams, while we help you realize some of yours! We have traditional farming knowledge, and are very open to new ideas and projects that can help us utilize the principles of permaculture to make our farm run more efficiently, and with less environmental impact. We are a short walk away from the nearest town of San Gerardo de Rivas, near the entrance to the beautiful Cerro Chirripo National Park, and one hour (by bus or car) from the city of San Isidro. This is a family owned and run farm that has been producing organic cocoa for over 25 years. Nestled in the secluded village of Mastatal, Costa Rica, this place sits at about 1000 meters above sea level in the lush and rugged tropical environment that is ideal for cocoa cultivation. The work of the farm fluctuates with the weather - the main cocoa harvest taking place during the rainy season (roughly May through November) and the expansion of terrace gardens, bean harvesting, and various other work taking place during the hot, dry summer season (December through April). Until recent years, the family had sold its fermented, dried cocoa beans to chocolate manufacturers. However, after the harvest of 2006, they decided to keep a few sacks of beans and experiment with the manufacturing of cocoa powder and chocolate. The result has been delicious, and gets better every day! With the help of volunteers and visiting students, this small farm has increased its cocoa production and exp...

My name is Veronica . I am married and have five kids who are now grown up. We grew up in a little town at the Caribbean Coast in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. My descendants and family are Jamaican. We are very proud of our culture. I grew up in a Christian family were I learned about natural Healing and that we need to take care of our mind, body, soul and we need to find the balance between the three of them. My grandparents and parents were naturalist, it means that they always worked with plants and herbs. When somebody is sick or has an allergy, they cure them with their knowledge of the plants, trees and herbs. They passed it on to us and my husband and I continue to pass our home remedies (: like fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables) to our children and to other people who wants to change their lives in a healthy way. All these are my inspiration along with the bible and nature that show me that my body is the temple of the holy spirit were God abides. The son , the water, t...

-We get up early, around 6:00 a.m, and go to bed early, around 9:00 - 10:00 p.m. - Collaboration in the land would be 5h30. -We make compost/vermicomposting/humanure. In the gardens we sometimes use forest soil, double dig everything and mulch garden beds for great results! Our techniques allow micro-organisms and worms to thrive and constantly improve the soil. We shower our plants and trees with these products twice per week to keep them thriving.

This place is a project which links permaculture, food forest, yoga and meditation, in the amazing spot of the Corcovaddo national park. Surrounded by this luxuriant nature the helpers will have the opportunity to help in the building process of the food forest as well being part of the hostel day to day tasks. We are looking for mature helpers which know how to work independently, we would also gladly receive the help of yoga teachers, to teach to guests and other volunteers. we are asking for 5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, in exchange of a nice accommodation in the dormitory for volunteers, and rice and beans.
