We started our Vineyard back in 2004,it is located in a Beautiful,Quiet,Valley along the bluffs of the Mississippi River. We have five children that have now grown and moved out on there own. I just retired from a career of Process Instrument Work at the local power plant. I could use some help with the Vineyard and Gardens, but also enjoy fishing and boating on the river in the evenings and of course days off. We would be willing to supply your own bedroom, great meals and WiFi. We also have two Female Collies that love to get brushed and played with. The ideal person would have to be able to work on there own or in a small group, after some training of course to get you up to your comfort level, so as you basically understand what the goals might be for the time of year and tasks at hand, a five hour day,if the weather permits, is what we usually work . There might be a few longer days, but I`m sure that having time off to check out the area won`t be any problem. If you would care t...

This is a construction project that believes in creating positive change by using sustainable methods and newly invented building materials and procedures. Our project has been underway for over a decade and through the process we have had the opportunity to present a transformative experience for individuals who want to work on not only bringing the building and environment to a higher place, but to also bring themselves to a higher place. We provide and encourage all who come to volunteer to participate in meditation groups and seminars, yoga practices, healthy eating options (all of the food here is provided for you!), and make strong and lasting relationships with everyone who lives here! We are looking for help in carpentry, mechanical, electrical, fiber cable installation, tiling, masonry, and drywall. If you have any experience in any of these construction areas we would greatly appreciate the skills and expertise to help us to build our sustainability foundation. Experience in...

One thing I can advise helpers who want to get a placement with any host is to have at least one PICTURE of YOURSELF. Just as you like to "see" who and where you are coming, hosts like to see who they are opening their home to. The weather is warming up now so there is lots to do outside in the yard. I'm not planting a vegetable garden this year so I'd like to clean up the area, fencing, painting etc. Knowledge of Carpentry and Plumbing are always appreciated. Car mechanics are always helpful. I would really appreciate someone who can do handyman jobs and wants to come for a week or two. I sell things online and on eBay and would love someone who is good at writing descriptions in English. I have a large house and property in a diverse area of Staten Island, New York that I`m always working on. I plant a vegetable garden in the spring using the square foot gardening method. A friend and I rebuilt the whole house on the inside including jacking it up and replacing the foundation,...

We are Karen and Andrew and live in the beautiful Southern Tier of New York state, about three hours Northwest from New York City. This is a rural area with lots of hiking and small towns to explore. This farm has been in the same family since it was established -- we are the sixth generation. We have chickens, a vegetable garden and about 150 acres of woods and open land. Invasive plants are always a problem, so there is plenty to do outdoors if that is what you prefer. If you are handy, there is also a lot of repair work and painting to be done. The house was built in 1852 and is showing its age. If you are a gardener or interested in landscape design we would love to hear what you think about our space! We offer a private room and bathroom, plus food. (During the day we are usually working, so you'll have to help yourself, but we often cook dinner.) Karen is a vegetarian but Andrew is NOT, so we are happy to accommodate your preferences. Work exchange is flexible -- probably a...

We are Sunny from China and Jeff from New York and we live in a small town in Oklahoma called Olustee of about 500 people. Nearby is a city called Altus of 19,000 people with stores, bars, restaurants and entertainment. You are invited to our place, either just to visit or to stay and help out. We also have campgrounds with a fire pit and tents. We would like help with cleaning of guest rooms, cooking, painting of walls and murals, some light construction work (very simple, you don't need to know anything), fixing bicycles for the neighborhood kids as well as maintaining the pool (in the summer). We have been doing this for about 15 years now and had guests from all over the world stay with us. We can show you around this part of Oklahoma and you are welcome to expl...

We are a dad & daughter (17) with a loving, crazy Airedale, living on a 60 acre mountain top with distant 360 degree views of both the Green & White Mountains. From sunrise to sunset we are having fun and loving the land, with tons of hiking/biking trails, and a nearby connection to a 25 mile network. There's generally a refreshing breeze here, but when it gets too warm we head down to our stream & spring fed pond, which is a piece of heaven -- deep and cool. Our whole mountain is magical, with strong meridians, and located in a very artsy & progressive part of southern Vermont. And yes, there's a lot involved in being good stewards, even though we are not a commercial farm, so we have many diverse projects, and you might assist in managing our generous garden, making meals, clearing land, nurturing the flower beds, painting, bucking up or stacking firewood, routine cleaning & maintenance, doing arts & music with Luna, or building a steam hut or other structures, for several hours mos...

We are a small-scale, organic vegetable farm in Palmer, Alaska. We grow an array of beautiful produce which includes carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, zucchini, brussel sprouts, romanesco, broccoli, potatoes, rhubarb, onions, beets, and many more. All of the vegetables we sell at local farmers markets are grown by us and are free of pesticides, GMOs, and chemicals. We not only believe that people should feel connected to their food, but we also feel that it should be delicious, healthy, and accessible. Work on the farm varies by season. In the Spring we spend our time prepping the field, sewing seeds, growing transplants, cultivating those seeds in the field, weeding, and watering. As we move into summer and fall helpers will have the opportunity to harvest and sell the fruits and vegetables that have been growing the past few months at the local farmers’ markets.

Forest Homestay in Southern Indiana I am seeking a long-term personal assistant, someone who can help around the house as well as manage other helpers engaged for short stays. My main goal is the sorting and purging of inherited items, selling, donating or boxing up excess items. Also need to liquidate my antique store inventory and at least half of my personal collections. It’s time to let it go. Bye bye Pyrex! Once we have the main living area squared away, we can work on organizing the lower level of the house. I have tons of art supplies and 3 sewing machines but need to set up a proper craft room, as well as a second family room in that area. This is a long term paid position. You will receive a stipend as well as keeping the profits from items we sell. This position is ideal for someone who needs time and space for things like yoga and meditation, writing a book or blogging, an online job with flexible hours, wildlife photography or maybe just perfecting your bread r...

Hi my name is Spencer, I am a small scale organic farmer and produce seller at a farmers market (Founder/Owner). My focus is on food and rely on my produce and home made conserves as my source of my livelihood. My homestead is located in Hoopa, an indigenous Native American reservation in Humboldt County California. Situated on the Trinity river, 20 miles (30km) from Willow creek, it is a small acreage with a diverse range of fruit and vegetables. This is an exciting project for us. We are guided by holistic management and permaculture principles in stewarding a Farm, Ranch, Campground, and Event Center in the beautiful Scott Valley of Northern California. The Scott River runs through the land as does Taylor creek. There are approx 100 acres of meadows, 10 acres of cottonwoods, and 210 acres of conifer forest. We manage our own irrigation systems using ditches and canals built in the 1860s. There are original cabins and an old RV park on the land. There is lots of work to do in all departments and we would love to have your help in exchange for a camp or rv site, and some shared meals. Our mission is a joyful, healthy abundant future through imaginative empowerment. We want to share our experience and learn from yours. Currently we manage a herd of 18 yaks, 12 goats and sheep, 30 laying hens and a guardian dog. These animals healthy lives are also making the soil healthier because we move them constantly, providing just t...

We are seeking help to rebuild and restore our beloved family farm which was abandoned for 6 years due to the 2018 Kilauea lava eruption. Our farm once thrived as an organic fruit and vegetable sanctuary, offering educational classes in sustainability and healthy living. Now, we are working to breathe new life into this special place. We also need assistance with caring for our pets - dogs and cats - while tending to various light tasks. These include trail clearing, painting, harvesting and restoring our cabins and weeding gardens. If you're passionate about revitalizing land and creating a sustainable future, we would love your help:) We are offering a simple 10x10 off grid cabin with covered porch that includes bedding and lantern. Short walk to outdoor communal kitchen and bathhouse from cabin.

We are the best of friends who live together and run a 24-hour restaurant in Oneonta, New York. We built our Deli with our own hands, using old rustic barn wood and other recycled materials. We love working together to serve good, wholesome food in a warm, encouraging environment — a haven from the storms of life. Our community is part of a worldwide network of communities, many of which also run restaurants, organic farms, and cottage industries where volunteers are also welcome to live and work with us. We all work together in our houses and at our Deli. There is a lot to do in maintaining a community. We have two large houses where we live and the Deli always needs constant care and attention. We enjoy having guests and volunteers who want to get to know us by living and working with us. We gather together every morning (at 7am) and evening (at 6pm) to express whatever is on our hearts. We sing a wide variety of songs we've written and we dance there to express our joy. We give...

This is a very healthy warm dry desert climate, where viruses do not thrive. At our farm here in the Coachella Valley we grow 6 varieties of dates; Medjool, Barhi, Khadrawi, Khalas, Halawi & Zahidi....and we also have young plantings of Jamaican plums. Date harvest will be from July 15th then into early to mid-August, so we need help with picking then. Tasks include irrigation, pruning, picking, fertilizing, pollination, clean-up, compost, trenching, house cleaning, road repair. We clean our soaking pools regularly and the farm could use the help with PDF editor skills, an electrician, and also someone with adequate videography and editing skills and also automotive repair skills. The hot springs is located in a very remote setting in the Coachella Valley of the southern California desert about 2 hours and 30 minutes from Los Angeles, or 50 miles southeast of Palm Springs, just off highway 111, in the morning shadow of the Chocolate Mountains, overlooking the middle of the Salton Sea,...

Come enjoy Central Kentucky and stay on an American farm! We are centrally located in the United States. Major cities like Louisville, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati are all within a couple hours drive. Chicago and Atlanta are 6-8 hours away for the weekend. We raise Kiko meat goats and had 32 kids for the 2023-2024 kidding season. We are expecting similar numbers for the upcoming 24-25 kidding season. We also have a horse, two dogs, and two cats. Nestled in the coastal range of Mendocino County, California (about 45 minutes Northwest of Ukiah) we are establishing a small farm and wildlife sanctuary. Based on principles of sustainability & permaculture our expanding ridge top garden and orchards consist of a variety of fruits, veggies, herbs and flowers. Aside from garden and orchard tasks additional projects may include gathering seaweed and other native wild foods, cooking, canning, fermenting foods, making herbal preparations, habitat restoration, brush and trail clearing, small scale green building and learning how to build and maintain an off-grid infrastructure and solar system. Please read all of our information before contacting us. We require a one month minimum stay. Our homestead is remote and therefore not for everyone. I work from home and live with my little dog, Bobby. I have 2 main projects: for the first one, I'd like someone with entrepreneurial or website design experience, and for the other, I'd like someone with garden design experience. I'm starting my Medicaid Planning company back up and would like help re-vamping the website and setting up my new client management/project management software. For the gardening, I'd like help designing a lush garden area for my backyard. Other than those projects, I'd like help with creating an "art room" and doing art projects, and help with general house and yard maintenance. I'd like 4 hours of work a day for 5 days, or the equivalent of 20 hours a week split up in convenient ways to allow you to travel and enjoy the area. I also plan to start learning French, so I welcome any French speakers, and I have a piano, for those who are musically inclined. I eat simply (soups, salads, sandwiches), and don't usually cook big meals. You are welcome to cook you...

We are building an urban eco-village ! (Evenually). For now, we have a farmhouse, detached garage, land and a LOT of projects that I could use help with in exchange for room and board. I'd love to find helper(s) already equipped with their own van/trailer, but I also have 2 small spare bedrooms on the 2nd floor with a shared bathroom. Land is 7 acres, with a 4 BR house, a barn that needs repair/demo and a free standing garage. The garage is fully equiped with tools for a workshop for someone who wants to do projects to generate revenue. I'm sure we can also find room for an art space, and I'm open to hosting events on the land to teach classes on permaculture, gardening, etc. About us: Our household me (55 yo lady), my 12 yo niece/adopted kiddo and my twenty something son who is here when he's not on the West coast. Come join us on ten acres of forest, meadow, and garden on San Juan Island! A true escape from the hubbub of modern life. San Juan is a small island 50mi/80km south of Vancouver, B.C. and 70mi/115km NNW of Seattle, WA. an hour and a half ferry ride from the mainland. It boasts many beautiful beaches, forests, tranquil farmland, stunning vistas and hiking/biking/kayaking opportunities. We are in the middle the island on a dead-end road about 10km/6mi from the small town of Friday Harbor. Most supplies are available at the shops in town. (If they don't have it do you really need it?) You'll have the option to camp or park your campervan in a private tree-lined field or stay in an adorable cabin tucked in the woods. Accommodation includes food, outdoor kitchen and shower, WiFi, use of bikes, kayaks, and a car if you wish. We have been hosting for another farm stay program for six years but they have decided to largely pull out of the United States. We are a couple in our mid-forties and...

We are a multi-generational family homestead deep in the mountains of beautiful Western North Carolina. My family has occupied this 108 acre farm for the past 47 years. Our farm is located 60 minutes from Asheville, 30 minutes from Marshall and 45 minutes from Hot Springs. We are looking for skilled and semi-skilled individuals who are willing to help us with the upkeep of our land. Jobs may include working in a small organic garden, clean-up, firewood, fencing, carpentry, landscaping, clearing trails and many other small jobs around the farm. The weekly expectation is 10 hours of work in exchange for accommodations. The helper/s will supply and cook their own food and can share the harvest of whatever is currently in the garden plus fresh eggs. Community meals will be occasionally offered but not expected. Accommodations suit one to two people, no animals, RVs or campers. We have a large rustic barn that has been transformed into living/ work space. You will have a ki...

We are an active family with 2 working dogs (Blue Heeler and Aussie Shepard) and a 3 year old running the household. The adults are both land management professionals that love the outdoors, eating healthy, good coffee, good food, reading, art, music and learning about our world and it's people either through our own travels or cultural exchanges. We have been workers ourselves on 2 different continents and routinely host PCT Hikers. We live on 3/4 of an acre on the outskirts of Bishop, CA with more than enough garden/yard work to go around. Work entails helping in the yard, walking/playing with dogs, child minding and helping around the house. Property has fruit trees, berries, flower gardens, veg garden, a creek, pond and lots of trees. We have a spare bedroom with queen bed and another with twin bunk beds both served by a spare bathroom with shower. Alternatively we have plenty of yard space for a tent and a hammock or two around the property if one prefers to be outdoors. Good p...

[Update posted 032325] The Crossing announces a change, a seed planted four years ago. For the past four years, the land belongs, as is fair and good, to a Tribal University and Land Grant University located on the Rosebud Reservation, home of the Sicangu Oyate, in South Dakota. Our donation of the property was formally accepted by Sinte Gleska University during September of 2020. Since then, the seed has sprouted and pushed roots of beginnings down into the soil and the sprout and it's cotyledons have come out into the sun. Last August, with an amazing gathering here of a group of people from The University, inipis (sweat lodge, in Lakota) were poured and prayers sent up to Creator, and the transition from private ownership to the establishment of Sinte Gleska University's welcomed and growing presence is forever engaged – the first true leaf has opened to the sunlight. Helen and I will share more about the future of The Crossing and the direction by Sinte Gleska University when yo...

Things have been moving along slow but meticulously! It feels good to be making progress and I can finally say I can see the light at the end of the tunnel…on my sailboat. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities; a lot to do at any skill level. Many projects take only 5-30 minutes to explain and easy for someone new to do a specific project well. Other projects require knowledgeable skills and other projects necessitate someone that has a fair amount of specific experience. Anyone that volunteers on my sailboat can join me sailing once my boat is back in the water, or come sailing with me at some point in the future! I anticipate at the end of spring or early summer, my boat will be back in the water! If this interest you, or you have questions, contact me through HelpX or call me direct via my mobile phone (also WhatsApp number). Below are a list of some of the projects we hope to complete by the the end of 2025. Install 1) solar panels 2) a DUO GEN, which produces elec...

The two of us live on seven acres in the Columbia River Gorge with our dog, Ike. Visitors help with growing and preserving fruit and vegetables, restoring woodland habitat, chicken care, building trails and generally maintaining the property. The land has woods, a creek and big views of the Columbia River Gorge. We are one mile from the small town of Stevenson and 50 minutes from Portland. Part of the land is actively managed and a work in progress; the rest of the land is wild, wooded and hilly. We like our guests to stay from three to about ten days. Getting to know people from around the world and sharing our lives has been amazingly meaningful for us these past few years. We are new to Helpx, but not hosting. We offer visitors a chance to learn about organic gardening, self-sufficiency, land management and permaculture. We use these principles to manage our young orchard, berry patch, Hugelkultur vegetable beds and perennial vegetables. Doug is a DIYer, loves to build thing...

This is a small farm and homestead situated at a scenic location in western Massachusetts. A family farm for several generations, we grow fruit and vegetables in our garden and greenhouse, wild berries, fruit trees, and Christmas trees. The farm is adjacent to a very large forest that can be accessed and enjoyed by a network of trails, and there are several small streams/brooks with swimming spots and waterfalls. In 2025, work is focused on gardening, growing high-tunnel crops, collecting berries, farm stand operation, and trail maintenance. Tasks may include: weeding, planting, harvesting and helping to sell produce. Other tasks might include things that help keep the farm going and prepare for the long-run, like fixing irrigation or farm structures and equipment, painting, landscaping projects, and processing or preserving food. Helpers can choose tasks that they feel comfortable with. We can offer indoor access to bathroom and shower, laundry, and with a shared meal in the evenings...

We are a nonprofit horse rehabilitation center that offers rescue, education on equine care, volunteering, community service, owner assistance programs. We need hands on to help with projects we are working on to complete as well as facility maintenance. Would love to have some energetic people that want to make a difference in horses lives here. Thats what is all about is helping these animals go from neglect to finding a forever home. You don't have to have experience we can teach you. If working hands on with horses is not your thing and you admire them there's lots of things you can still do to help them prepare for homes. What we are not: We are not a riding stables. We give lessons when able after all chores completed and trainer is here on certain days (when available) and during certain times of the year. So if your intention is to spend lots of time "in the saddle" we don't do that here. We aren't a "working ranch" for people to ride horses all day and move cattle, ride trai...

(During the day we are usually working, so you'll have to help yourself, but we often cook dinner.) We are a dad & daughter (17) with a loving, crazy Airedale, living on a 60 acre mountain top with distant 360 degree views of both the Green & White Mountains.
