This is a homestead, on the side of a mountain, off grid and remote. We have power provided by a small solar system and a wind generator. There is hot and cold running water and a washing machine on site. There is also WiFi as power allows. Your stay here would require 4 hours of work daily Monday through Friday in exchange for lodging. Meals can be provided as well. Duties vary but would consist of tasks necessary to keep up the gardens, tend goats and chickens, fencing projects, and building and maintenance of farm structures. The view here is amazing and the National Forest is within walking distance. I also provide transportation to and from many local camping sites to enjoy in your off time and can loan gear if needed. I need helpers. The farm is always a work in process as is life. It is located in North Central Washington State and the closest town of Tonasket is 27 miles away. There is a small cabin with guest space in the loft, a travel trailer, plenty of tent space ...

2025 UPDATE* Seeking motivated candidate interested in late season garden harvest and house sitting- WEEKLY STIPEND We're a farm and homestead community situated in the scenic Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. A family farm for 2 generations, we grow fruit and vegetables in our garden and greenhouse, wild berries, fruit trees, and Christmas trees. The farm is adjacent to several thousand acres of state forest, accessed and enjoyed by a network of trails leading to streams/brooks with swimming spots and waterfalls. In 2025, work is focused on gardening, growing high-tunnel crops, collecting berries, farm stand operation, and trail maintenance. Tasks may include: weeding, planting, harvesting and helping to sell produce. Other tasks might include things that help keep the farm going and prepare for the long-run, like fixing irrigation or farm structures and equipment, painting, landscaping projects, and processing or preserving food. Helpers can choose tasks that they feel comforta...

We're offering off grid accommodation to an individual (or couple) interested in hospitality and light farming/grounds maintenance/recreational trail building. The area offers excellent opportunities for seasonal employment with the National Park, adventure programs and dining establishments close by. - - - - - The homestead is located just a few miles west of Acadia National Park, in downeast Maine. We are the best of friends who live together and run a 24-hour restaurant in Oneonta, New York. We built our Deli with our own hands, using old rustic barn wood and other recycled materials. We love working together to serve good, wholesome food in a warm, encouraging environment — a haven from the storms of life. Our community is part of a worldwide network of communities, many of which also run restaurants, organic farms, and cottage industries where volunteers are also welcome to live and work with us. We all work together in our houses and at our Deli. There is a lot to do in maintaining a community. We have two large houses where we live and the Deli always needs constant care and attention. We enjoy having guests and volunteers who want to get to know us by living and working with us. We gather together every morning (at 7am) and evening (at 6pm) to express whatever is on our hearts. We sing a wide variety of songs we've written and we dance there to express our joy. We give...

Purpose – to steward land and livestock responsibly while sharing practical skills, meaningful work, and the rhythm of authentic Texas ranch life. ⸻ 🌿 About Me Howdy — I’m Adele, and I run a 25-acre working ranch in Central Texas, just across the road from the Colorado River. The land is gently rolling and hilly with dry creeks, pasture, and a pond. After retiring from public service (public safety and U.S. Marine Corps) I chose a life centered around land stewardship, livestock, and building with my hands. Last year I spent two months volunteering on farms in Scotland, Ireland, Italy, and France. I wanted to understand the volunteer experience firsthand — what feels fair, what feels supportive, and what makes the exchange meaningful. I worked hard, observed carefully, and now aim to offer that same level of clarity and respect here. I manage: • 36 Nigerian Dwarf goats • 35 chickens (hens and roosters) • 9 ducks • 2 cows with calves • 4 working ranch dogs • 2 barn cats A...

We are a river side food forest with an established fruit orchard (apple, pear, plum, cherry, mulberry, fig, etc), berries and grapes. We tend to small scale, no dig vegetable, flower, and herb gardens as well. We have a 2.5 year old. There is a small flock of egg laying hens and Muscovy ducks that we move around the pasture in a mobile chicken coop. My name is Andrew and partner's name is Lale ("La-leh"). The queen of the property is a black cat named Bella! We are located in Southern Oregon, between Grants Pass and Roseburg. You can take a day trip to Crater Lake and Diamond Lake! Visit the world famous reservoir lake near us, it is only 6 minutes up the road from us! Grants Pass is about 35 minutes South and Roseburg is about 35 minutes North of us. There is a lot to do here and plenty of space for learning, development, and cultivation. The dream is to continually turn the 2.5 acre pasture into a food forest that incorporates permaculture principles. We both adopt a holistic li...

Howdy ! Come help to renovate an incredible cabin that was originally built as a log cabin in 1850! No experience necessary, only and openness and willingness to work and learn. I'm open to volunteers for just a couple days, a week or more. LOCATION: The cabin is in the forest on the top of a small mountain overlooking a peaceful lake on the outskirts of the town of Calumet (just a 10 min walk away). Best of all is that the property borders on 300 acres of public forest land with lots of trails for biking, hiking and exploring nature (Swedetown Recreation Area). A ride down a 30 minuet mountain bike trail and your on the shore of Lake Superior! Only 5 minutes to the big lake beach if your driving ! CALUMET is a lovely town and a main tourist destination for the U.P. Michigan (Keweenaw Peninsula). Check it out online. It has a wonderful farmer's marker every Saturday, some good coffee shops, restaurants, an active performance theater, music events and more. Everything is accessibl...

Mike and I live on a lovely quiet pond west of Boston - we are trying to build a small path on our land and a vegetable garden - we are in a wooded, rural area, but only 3 hours from New York, 1 hour from Boston and a half hour from Worcester. We have one cat - mostly outdoor. We are both aspiring vegetarians and trying not to eat much sugar. Our house is on two levels and has four bedrooms and three baths, 2 fireplaces and an outdoor firepit down by the Pond - good swimming and fishing in summer. We are five miles from the nearest store and library, but have bikes to lend out and can offer lifts. We are looking for people to help build the path, e.g. clear the brush and cut up trees and help with the gardens and general house cleaning. We have wi-fi and cable tv and a canoe and 2 kayaks, a paddle boat and fishing poles. The fall colors are wonderful and the spring is simply beautiful. The summer is warm but we can cool off swimming in the pond. We always look forward to wint...

We are a small-scale, organic vegetable farm in Palmer, Alaska. We grow an array of beautiful produce which includes carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, zucchini, brussel sprouts, romanesco, broccoli, potatoes, rhubarb, onions, beets, and many more. All of the vegetables we sell at local farmers markets are grown by us and are free of pesticides, GMOs, and chemicals. We not only believe that people should feel connected to their food, but we also feel that it should be delicious, healthy, and accessible. Work on the farm varies by season. In the Spring we spend our time prepping the field, sewing seeds, growing transplants, cultivating those seeds in the field, weeding, and watering. As we move into summer and fall helpers will have the opportunity to harvest and sell the fruits and vegetables that have been growing the past few months at the local farmers’ markets.

Winter 2026 Lots do to on the Farm! Babies being born, vegetables to plant, trees to trim. So when we say learn to live sustainabley, It is just that! When we first bought the farm, coming from Chicago our first real intention was to KNOW Exactly Where our food was coming From. Perusing the grocery aisles, do we ever really know? As the farm developed, our goal slowly was being realized. Our coveted relationships with the Amish and Mennonite communities fill in all the gaps in our drive to LIVE on our own. However our small farm, still has a lot of growing to do. We raise sheep and have two donkeys, chickens , ducks, rabbits two Guineas named Gilbert and Gilligan and no children. Goats are next! We hope for cultural exchanges along with 4 to 5 hours of help, 5 days out of the week, not including meal prep and clean-up. Summer is here so fertilizing and trimming bushes, planting winter vegetables at the farm needs to be done. We recently purchased a pretty large Tractor that you will le...

. We are a retired couple currently in the process of wrapping up a farming phase of our lives. We need "brawn" to help clean up a dusty barn and restore a damaged hoop house. Not a lot of skill is needed if you can handle a shovel and are not afraid of a half-day's hard work followed by playing in the forest or sitting in a hot tub along a beautiful creek in the mountains. SKILLS to USE: . You just need to be a willing helper who doesn`t mind working outside or in a barn. Your assistance will be used to help with farm chores, landscaping, gardening, etc and some domestic assistance in the house preparing for our frequent guests. You will be asked to show your passport or US ID for us to photo copy for safety purposes only. OUR WEATHER: Obviously, in winter months it's cold in Montana. We started our Vineyard back in 2004,it is located in a Beautiful,Quiet,Valley along the bluffs of the Mississippi River. We have five children that have now grown and moved out on there own. I just retired from a career of Process Instrument Work at the local power plant. I could use some help with the Vineyard and Gardens, but also enjoy fishing and boating on the river in the evenings and of course days off. We would be willing to supply your own bedroom, great meals and WiFi. We also have two Female Collies that love to get brushed and played with. The ideal person would have to be able to work on there own or in a small group, after some training of course to get you up to your comfort level, so as you basically understand what the goals might be for the time of year and tasks at hand, a five hour day,if the weather permits, is what we usually work . There might be a few longer days, but I`m sure that having time off to check out the area won`t be any problem. If you would care t...

The accomodation is a 8' x 12' studio with a small covered front porch. There's high speed wifi and solar power, and it's surrounded by forest. There's a nice hexagonal composting toilet, an outdoor shower, and a shared kitchen and dining area. Looking for someone who can work independently on some tasks (gardening, painting) while I'm at my day job, and we'll work together some too (tree planting, construction projects). I work as a zipline guide and love touring people around the Island, so I'd be happy to take you on adventures on the weekends too!

I can't see the world, but the world can come see me. First and foremost, I want to thank all the helpers who came from United Kingdom-England, France, Belgium, Italy, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Welcome Helpers. We are a family of 5 living in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. Sue is the founder of Peaceful Hollow. Her daughter Ruth moved to the Hollow later as well as her husband Tim and their 2 daughters. Our hollow is quite with no neighbors in sight. There are no city lights, and you can see every star on a clear night! Our homestead consists of Sue, Tim & Ruth's cabins and one very small guest cabin. Also, there is a private guestroom with private entrance on the second floor above the workshop/cabin combination. . We have a lot you can be involved in, knowledge to share, friendships to build, and opportunities for growth. Below are our routines and some projects. We would love to involve you! - Caring for our honey bees, chickens, cats, dogs, one...

We are on an 70 acre farm in North Pope County, Illinois and are virtually surrounded by the Shawnee National Forest. Having been on this farm for 13 years, we are still developing infrastructure and are continuing to plant in the orchard and various berries as well as establishing and expanding garden and crop areas. We are a GMO, herbicide and pesticide free farm in all of our outdoor areas. As we are far away from "modern agricultural" property, we feel that we should have no problems with cross pollination of our crops with GMO's or damage/exposure from/to ag chemicals. There are many projects currently in process or in the planning stages. This summer/fall we hope to get new water and electric lines ran to all the barns and the greenhouse as well as get a fiber studio framed in and get the finishing touches on the greenhouses. Tasks on the farm are endless, so there are always things to do year round. Clearing brush, cutting wood, building fence, baling hay, sawing lumber, ...

MOST URGENT NEEDS: -Someone who KNOWS land, soil, water as we are looking to acquire land in California to get things started! -Organizing many old things in the house we are in in San Francisco If you are a traveller, musician, community-orientated...this could also be a great place for you I am a chef and musician, that's been traveling pretty much non-stop since I started....After 15 years of traveling, living in many refugee projects, squats, intentional communities, collectives, cooking for many community kitchens, staying in many farms and seeing what it is possible in this world....I have seen many things I have loved and many things that didn't quite work in my opinion...now I have a unique opportunity to start a community based on learning, sharing and helping each other (especially those that may not normally have access to such a privileged life-style) grow and learn through workshops and communal happenings. Right now I am in the extreme beginnings. I am looking for lan...

We are a nonprofit horse rehabilitation center that offers rescue, education on equine care. We need hands on to help with projects we are working on to complete as well as facility maintenance. Would love to have some energetic people that want to make a difference in horses lives here. It’s about helping these animals go from neglect to finding a forever home or live their lives in Sanctuary. You don't have to have experience we can teach you. If working hands on with horses is not your thing and you admire them there's lots of things you can still do to help them prepare for homes or help at the facility. What we are not: We are not a riding stables. We give lessons when able after all chores completed and trainer is here on certain days and during certain times of the year. So if your intention is to spend lots of time "in the saddle" we don't do that here. We aren't a "working ranch" for people to ride horses all day and move cattle, ride trails, etc. We are not a fancy stab...

Hello, I live in Durham, which is part of "The Triangle," along with Raleigh and Chapel Hill. This area has an amazing amount of outdoor and cultural activities. You can subscribe to the "Triangle on the Cheap" newsletter to see daily listings of the various festivals, music, farmer's markets, sports events and other activities in the area. And my daughter and I can also give you ideas of things to do. The Raleigh-Durham airport (RDU) is 15 minutes away, and I can pick you up or drop you off at the airport, but to visit the wide range of activities in our area, you'll probably want your own transportation. In addition, I can provide a bike, and you can hop on the 27 mile American Tobacco bike trail which is only half a mile from my house, and three miles down the trail is Southpoint Mall, which is one of the nicest malls in the whole Triangle, with great shops, restaurants and a movie theater, so it's fun to bike there. There are also 2 Amtrak stations nearby in Durham and Cary, and m...

Hawaii Beach Project: This is a construction project that believes in creating positive change by using sustainable methods and newly invented building materials and procedures. Our project has been underway for over a decade and through the process we have had the opportunity to present a transformative experience for individuals who want to work on not only bringing the building and environment to a higher place, but to also bring themselves to a higher place.

(FYI: Our area in Montana has milder winter weather in comparison to the rest of Montana. We are shielded from harsh wind chills by mountain ranges on both sides.) Winter helpers w...
