We are Sunny from China and Jeff from New York and we live in a small town in Oklahoma called Olustee of about 500 people. Nearby is a city called Altus of 19,000 people with stores, bars, restaurants and entertainment. You are invited to our place, either just to visit or to stay and help out. We have 4 bedrooms for travelers and helpers in our guest house available for you (can accommodate probably up to 10 people) and there is also a game room, swimming pool (in the summer) and basketball court on the property. We also have campgrounds with a fire pit and tents. We would like help with cleaning of guest rooms, cooking, painting of walls and murals, some light construction work (very simple, you don't need to know anything), fixing bicycles for the neighborhood kids as well as maintaining the pool (in the summer). We have been doing this for about 15 years now and had guests from all over the world stay with us. We can show you around this part of Oklahoma and you are welcome to expl...

The accomodation is a 8' x 12' studio with a small covered front porch. There's high speed wifi and solar power, and it's surrounded by forest. There's a nice hexagonal composting toilet, an outdoor shower, and a shared kitchen and dining area. Looking for someone who can work independently on some tasks (gardening, painting) while I'm at my day job, and we'll work together some too (tree planting, construction projects). I work as a zipline guide and love touring people around the Island, so I'd be happy to take you on adventures on the weekends too!

We are a dad & daughter (17) with a loving, crazy Airedale, living on a 60 acre mountain top with distant 360 degree views of both the Green & White Mountains. From sunrise to sunset we are having fun and loving the land, with tons of hiking/biking trails, and a nearby connection to a 25 mile network. There's generally a refreshing breeze here, but when it gets too warm we head down to our stream & spring fed pond, which is a piece of heaven -- deep and cool. Our whole mountain is magical, with strong meridians, and located in a very artsy & progressive part of southern Vermont. And yes, there's a lot involved in being good stewards, even though we are not a commercial farm, so we have many diverse projects, and you might assist in managing our generous garden, making meals, clearing land, nurturing the flower beds, painting, bucking up or stacking firewood, routine cleaning & maintenance, doing arts & music with Luna, or building a steam hut or other structures, for several hours mos...

We're a truganic, biodynamic, permaculture farm in the Catskill Mountains of New York State, two hours Northwest of NYC. 24 acres with approx. 4 acres of wetlands. Approximately 5 acres under cultivation. We follow all the organic standards, and above (since organic standards are constantly being downgraded by the USDA), but are not certified organic. We DO NOT use pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, "cides" of any kind, or chemical fertilizers. We also follow biodynamic & permaculture principles. Season is April through October. We appreciate 5 hours of work per day, 6 days per week. You can choose 8 am to 1 pm, or 7 am to noon. Sundays off. (Note for U4U applicants -- we cannot sponsor any refugees from Ukraine at this time, but we are happy to host you if someone else can sponsor you.) ~Our Place~ We live on a beautiful piece of land in rural Texas, full of lush green hills, towering pines, oak savannahs, and wild animals, about 1 hour's drive from Austin. Our goal is to build a community out here, starting from our extended family and friend group and beyond. We've traveled the world volunteering, hitchhiking, Couchsurfing, playing music in bands, farming, building, protesting, yogaing, truck-driving, teaching... all kinds of things. Now, we're trying to restore this piece of land to a more balanced state and to build a home, a farm, an apiary, a studio... We want this to be a place that fosters creativity, closeness to nature, silence, loudness, peace, chaos, etc.! And we've hosted volunteers from Colombia, Iran, Canada, China, Mexico, Iraq, USA, Korea, Spain, Bulgaria, Brazil, Denmark, Zimbabwe, Japan, France, Germ...

Hi, I could really use some help. I’m nearing completion of my home in Alaska and looking for self-motivated individuals to help with the last push to completion. Cleaning, organizing, helping post\sell things online and basic yard work like pulling weeds in flower beds and gardening is what I’m looking for. I can provide room, board and internet in exchange. There’s a small private bunkhouse on site for your stay. It is pretty small so couples might feel cramped. Internet is available but spotty at times. Please enjoy yard work like planting flowers, weeding and dealing with fire wood. I will go out of my way to make your experience a blast. I’m happy to show you the great Alaskan outdoors while you are here - hiking, rafting, kayaking, climbing, camping, nature viewing, fishing and boating to name a few in some of the most beautiful places in the world. I’m very outdoorsy. Try to hunt, fish or grow most of what I eat. I work and play hard. I’ve had several helpers and it’s been ...

[Update posted 08/01/25] The Crossing announces a change, a seed planted four years ago. For the past four years, the land belongs, as is fair and good, to a Tribal University and Land Grant University located on the Rosebud Reservation, home of the Sicangu Oyate, in South Dakota. Our donation of the property was formally accepted by Sinte Gleska University during September of 2020. Since then, the seed has sprouted and pushed roots of beginnings down into the soil and the sprout and it's cotyledons have come out into the sun. Last August, with an amazing gathering here of a group of people from The University, inipis (sweat lodge, in Lakota) were poured and prayers sent up to Creator, and the transition from private ownership to the establishment of Sinte Gleska University's welcomed and growing presence is forever engaged – the first true leaf has opened to the sunlight. Helen and I will share more about the future of The Crossing and the direction by Sinte Gleska University when ...

We are the best of friends who live together and run a 24-hour restaurant in Oneonta, New York. We built our Deli with our own hands, using old rustic barn wood and other recycled materials. We love working together to serve good, wholesome food in a warm, encouraging environment — a haven from the storms of life. Our community is part of a worldwide network of communities, many of which also run restaurants, organic farms, and cottage industries where volunteers are also welcome to live and work with us. We all work together in our houses and at our Deli. There is a lot to do in maintaining a community. We have two large houses where we live and the Deli always needs constant care and attention. We enjoy having guests and volunteers who want to get to know us by living and working with us. We gather together every morning (at 7am) and evening (at 6pm) to express whatever is on our hearts. We sing a wide variety of songs we've written and we dance there to express our joy. We give...

Join Our Home in Walnut Creek: A Unique Opportunity for Connection and Support Hello! My name is Bruce, and I’m looking for a reliable, friendly person to assist me with everyday life while also forming a meaningful connection. About Me and Our Home I broke my neck at 18, resulting in lifelong use of a wheelchair. Despite this, I pursued multiple degrees and have built a fulfilling life with my wife, Kim. We live in a cozy three-bedroom home in Walnut Creek, just 28 miles east of San Francisco. Our household includes our service dog, Bennett, a future service dog in training (Dorothy, our third), and two cats, Edna and Scarlett. Your Role & Contribution While Kim is my full-time caregiver, I need help with tasks that offset my paralysis, including: - Household Tasks – Light cleaning, keeping the kitchen tidy, and helping with laundry. - Personal Assistance – Bringing me food, water, and other necessities I can’t manage on my own. - Driving & Companionship – Taking...

Come enjoy Central Kentucky and stay on an American farm! We are centrally located in the United States. Major cities like Louisville, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati are all within a couple hours drive. Chicago and Atlanta are 6-8 hours away for the weekend. We raise Kiko meat goats and had 32 kids for the 2023-2024 kidding season. We are expecting similar numbers for the upcoming 24-25 kidding season. We also have a horse, two dogs, and two cats. We have hosted exchanges in the past from countries including Germany, Spain, Colombia, and, Switzerland, Canada, Denmark, and The Netherlands. We enjoy having people from diverse cultures live with us. My wife (Carolina) and I met indirectly through an exchange program. We have one daughter (Elena), an exchange daughter (Jolina) and some nieces and nephews who sometimes visit. We would love for someone to come stay with us and help on our farm. We currently have 17 adult Kiko goats, about 25 weanling babies, and are expecting around ...

NEED for HELPERS We now need help harvesting macadamia nuts and other tropical fruits. There are a number of other matters that could use assistance, like things connected with our BnB. If you are interested and available, please let me know and I'll send details. We have a small bed and breakfast on a five acre macadamia nut and coffee farm and a wide variety of organic tropical fruit trees. It's a beautiful farm set in a beautiful location not far from great swimming and snorkeling. It's very peaceful here at the Beautiful Edge of the World. Many people say that our location has the best weather in Hawaii, and some say we have the best weather in the world. Seldom too hot, never too cold, seldom too wet, never too dry. We are also only a ten minute walk from a supermarket and the (infrequent) bus stop. Need help starting soon. Give it a try for two weeks to see if it's a good fit. If so, no limit on how long you might stay. Gender, age, experience not important. Attitude...

I can't see the world, but the world can come see me. First and foremost, I want to thank all the helpers who came from United Kingdom-England, France, Belgium, Italy, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Welcome Helpers. We are a family of 5 living in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. Sue is the founder of Peaceful Hollow. Her daughter Ruth moved to the Hollow later as well as her husband Tim and their 2 daughters. Our hollow is quite with no neighbors in sight. There are no city lights, and you can see every star on a clear night! Our homestead consists of Sue, Tim & Ruth's cabins and one very small guest cabin. Also, there is an private guestroom with private entrance on the second floor above the workshop/cabin combination. . We have a lot you can be involved in, knowledge to share, friendships to build, and opportunities for growth. Below are our routines and some projects. We would love to involve you! - Caring for our chickens, cats, dogs, one registered...

Hi! We are a family of 4: Madalyn (that’s me) is a therapist and artist, Greg is a fisherman, Gray is our indoor/outdoor cat, and Olivine is our little baby born July 2025. We are looking for someone to help take care of Olivine, at most for a few hours a day, a few days per week, while I see my clients from home via Telehealth. Our home is a 5 minute walk from the ocean, with excellent snorkeling, coral reef, and fish, and whales in the winter. It’s a quiet community, warm and sunny all year, and not far from attractions like hiking, the volcano, beaches, and more. However it is pretty remote; the nearest stores are at least 20 minutes by car, though you can get coffee, avocados, eggs, macadamia nuts, and tropical fruit from nearby farm stands. Helpers get their own private apartment downstairs with bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and living room. Gray (cat) is not allowed in there so those with allergies have a cat-free zone. We like to share meals often and provide some basic gro...

Live in a beautiful home on Gull Lake, which was ranked one of the ten best inland lakes in the country by National Geographic, in Richland, Michigan, 2 and 1/2 hours from the heart of Chicago. Ride on our tritoon boat around the seven mile lake! Explore nearby Kalamazoo, Michigan, or travel forty-five minutes to Lake Michigan. Our youngest son was a HelpX in Saas Grund, Switzerland, and he had a wonderful experience helping and sking the awe inspiring Swiss Alps. As with his experience, help with yard work, house work, painting, and organization of items for twenty hours or less per week. Have your own bedroom and bath, except on holidays. Stocked refrigerator and pantry for your use. We are a casual family who would like to continue to return the favor of our son's experience in Switzerland.

One thing I can advise helpers who want to get a placement with any host is to have at least one PICTURE of YOURSELF. Just as you like to "see" who and where you are coming, hosts like to see who they are opening their home to. The weather is warming up now so there is lots to do outside in the yard. I'm not planting a vegetable garden this year so I'd like to clean up the area, fencing, painting etc. Knowledge of Carpentry and Plumbing are always appreciated. Car mechanics are always helpful. I would really appreciate someone who can do handyman jobs and wants to come for a week or two. I sell things online and on eBay and would love someone who is good at writing descriptions in English. I have a large house and property in a diverse area of Staten Island, New York that I`m always working on. I plant a vegetable garden in the spring using the square foot gardening method. A friend and I rebuilt the whole house on the inside including jacking it up and replacing the foundation,...

This is a very healthy warm dry desert climate, where viruses do not thrive. At our farm here in the Coachella Valley we grow 6 varieties of dates; Medjool, Barhi, Khadrawi, Khalas, Halawi & Zahidi....and we also have young plantings of Jamaican plums. Tasks include irrigation, pruning, picking, fertilizing, pollination, clean-up, compost, trenching, house cleaning, road repair. We clean our soaking pools regularly and the farm could use the help of an electrician or skills with concrete, and also someone with adequate videography and editing skills and also automotive repair skills. The hot springs is located in a very remote setting in the Coachella Valley of the southern California desert about 2 hours and 30 minutes from Los Angeles, or 50 miles southeast of Palm Springs, just off highway 111, in the morning shadow of the Chocolate Mountains, overlooking the middle of the Salton Sea, with the warmest winter climate in the western U.S.A. A wonderfully unique opportunity (but, not for everyone) : We're a well-established intentional community, based on mindfulness and conscious living, in the mountains between Santa Fe and ABQ, New Mexico. Music, theater, performing arts, creative projects, healthy living/wellness, meditation, spiritual growth and intentional movement are all cornerstones of our existence. Keywords that describe our chosen way of living: Laughter, kindness, respect to all, enthusiasm, organic, fun, inspiring, collaborative, focused on becoming our best selves to be available for service to others. We'd welcome folks interested in experiencing our community...who enjoy participating in and helping with a variety of projects in a positive and creative environment! We are always juggling a myriad of projects....and enjoy aligning the best projects with the best individuals offering to help. Projects vary from day to day but may include include cleaning, painting, building/construction, gardening/landsca...

About Me So many life changes in the last few years have led to me now being a solo disabled farmer. Used to do this with my wife and kids, but my youngest passed away, then the wife and oldest, well, that's a long story. But I'm safe and free now to build a resilient and sustainable life. I'm restarting farm life. I've got land, tools, experience, and a few new challenges, like recently acquired PTSD (non-violent, formal diagnosis pending) and needing spine fusion and hip replacement surgeries. I got this! But some extra help would sure be nice to have. I do have a full time caregiver already (18/F), so not looking for help with that. I'm patient, calm, and forgiving. Few things motivate me like the joy of seeing new achievements at the end of the day, so I almost always have projects to do. As a disabled person, that achievement-driven mindset also gives me a tendency to do a little more than I should push my body through doing. The DIY ethos runs in my veins. The only rule of my...

Come join us on ten acres of forest, meadow, and garden on San Juan Island! A true escape from the hubbub of modern life. San Juan is a small island 50mi/80km south of Vancouver, B.C. and 70mi/115km NNW of Seattle, WA. an hour and a half ferry ride from the mainland. It boasts many beautiful beaches, forests, tranquil farmland, stunning vistas and hiking/biking/kayaking opportunities. We are in the middle the island on a dead-end road about 10km/6mi from the small town of Friday Harbor. Most supplies are available at the shops in town. (If they don't have it do you really need it?) You'll have the option to camp or park your campervan in a private tree-lined field or stay in an adorable cabin tucked in the woods. Accommodation includes food, outdoor kitchen and shower, WiFi, use of bikes, kayaks, and a car if you wish. We have been hosting for another farm stay program for six years but they have decided to largely pull out of the United States. We are a couple in our mid-forties and...

Have a few short stays available in the Fall/Winter. If you find the Pacific Northwest is calling to you - please reach out. We are a family of three living in a three-bedroom house just outside Portland, Oregon with cats and a variety of little critters. We really enjoy the exchange of culture when meeting new travelers or students, many who have become friends and repeat visitors. We have started a bit of an urban homestead on our quarter-acre lot—12 raised-bed vegetable gardens, blueberry/strawberry, cherry trees, etc. We have a hive on our property full-time after an extended period with a local bee-share and adding mason bees this year. We have taken on a new challenge of adding a greenhouse and we would love your help with it. Outside is in full swing as we are adding new fruit trees and reintroducing native plants back into the yard. The birds and pollinators love it! Someone with general handy skills would be able to help around the house. Or maybe you like to craft in the k...

Central Ohio 45 min south of Columbus. Commitment of 2-4 months if possible. 1-2 people, I prefer female travelers. Accommodation in exchange for 15-20 hours week. Wi-Fi included. I will provide breakfast, and you would provide your own food for dinners, and toiletries. You can eat on your own or share meals with me, and sometimes sharing meals with local friends. Accommodation is a 2 story historic brick building upstairs, with large furnished shared main space; a lounge, kitchen, and bathroom. There are 2 bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with 2 twin beds and separate sitting room, so you will have a private bedroom). I have a lovely courtyard patio to hang out when the weather is warm, and some small garden beds. There is also storage space and off street parking. The living quarters are upstairs (18 steps) and the downstairs is an open warehouse/ storage area. The building is in a rural village, with various larger towns 20-35 min away. I have a working bicycle you ca...

We are a couple in a neighborhood in the north-east area of Seattle, Washington. We are interested in hosting a person or two who could help with some yard work, maybe deep cleaning the kitchen, general house projects, painting walls, etc. Short term stays are best for us (around a week, plus or minus). We ask for 3 hours of help per day (except for arrival and departure days). It's OK to work longer days and then take days off - we are flexible. You have your own bedroom & your own bathroom to use on the lower level of our home. We have two "kids", 23 and 25, all grown and moved away. The photo posted is really old! We enjoy meeting people from other cultures! Our home is near a bus line - 30 minutes to the city center. Walking distance to library, shops and cafes. You are welcome to borrow a bicycle to explore (be prepared for hills!). We like helpers who are friendly and easy going. All of our helpers so far have found a good balance between engaging with us and g...

I would appreciate help at this time....especially painting; fencing, painting, repair and maintenance... and still more painting.... Normal animal routines.... feeding, watering and caring for the 5 goats , horse, Zebu cow, dogs and birds. Permaculture gardening practices... learning as I go.... tidying, preparing and spring planting.... Plenty of recreation in the area: bicycles, tennis courts, frisbee golf, lakes and boats etc available nearby. #permaculture #construction #animals #sustainability. Use of the house facilities for all activities : cooking, bathroom + showering, relaxing. Trailer nearby for the bedroom and your stuff.

I currently have an opening in December. Are you joyful and energetic, aligned with creating the change that is needed in the world through farming? We have a unique opportunity- read on! We have goats, chickens, geese, sunflowers and pickle ball! Learn how to keep your spiritual balance through meditation and working on a humane and free range goat farm, located in a spiritual community based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda- Autobiography of a Yogi. (Paramahansa Yogananda is widely regarded as a pivotal figure in bringing yoga and Eastern spiritual teachings to the West.) Being in the midst of around 250 simple living, high minded folks is magical and very supportive of spiritual growth. Depending on the length of your stay, you will learn daily chores, milking, herding, cheese making and more. I can show you easy ways to make chevre, feta, and cheddar that taste amazing (During the winter there is a lot less cheese making). You’ll stay in a room at my house (where the...

We are Karen and Andrew and live in the beautiful Southern Tier of New York state, about three hours Northwest from New York City. This is a rural area with lots of hiking and small towns to explore. This farm has been in the same family since it was established -- we are the sixth generation. We have chickens, a vegetable garden and about 150 acres of woods and open land. Invasive plants are always a problem, so there is plenty to do outdoors if that is what you prefer. If you are handy, there is also repair work and painting to be done. The house was built in 1852 and is showing its age. Now that fall is here, we are cleaning up the landscaping and putting in flower beds for next year. We have wildlife cameras around the property that need to be checked for a university-sponsored wildlife survey we joined this year. We offer a private room and bathroom, plus food. (During the day we are usually working, so you'll have to help yourself, but we often cook dinner.) Karen is a vege...

Howdy ! Come help to renovate an incredible cabin that was originally built as a log cabin in 1850! No experience necessary, only and openness and willingness to work and learn. I'm open to volunteers for just a couple days, a week or more. LOCATION: The cabin is in the forest on the top of a small mountain overlooking a peaceful lake on the outskirts of the town of Calumet (just a 10 min walk away). Best of all is that the property borders on 300 acres of public forest land with lots of trails for biking, hiking and exploring nature (Swedetown Recreation Area). A ride down a 30 minuet mountain bike trail and your on the shore of Lake Superior! Only 5 minutes to the big lake beach if your driving ! CALUMET is a lovely town and a main tourist destination for the U.P. Michigan (Keweenaw Peninsula). Check it out online. It has a wonderful farmer's marker every Saturday, some good coffee shops, restaurants, an active performance theater, music events and more. Everything is accessibl...

Howdy. It’s been great hosting with HelpX and having the opportunity to offer local cultural experiences to friends from around the globe! Thus far our helpx volunteers have been a big help and we gratefully appreciate their time and services offered on helping with meaningful projects. We opened this site as our second HelpX location. Now we have three sites. For previous volunteer references you can also check out our New Orleans Community Center HelpX site. https://helpx.net/host/1055516QX VOLUNTEER HOURS No experience necessary, only a willingness to work and learn. Volunteers work 15 hrs. per week with a flexible but fairly regular schedule of 10AM to 1PM Monday through Friday. For those wanting to offer more help than 15 hours there may be opportunities to do extra work for travel & food money (no meals provided). We have a need for different types of help at different times - house cleaning, gardening, landscaping, painting, art projects, construction, creative building,...

We’re a couple of radical folx who run a nonprofit, and we’re wrangling an eight-years-abandoned mansion, or “The Castle,” as we call it — back from the dead. It sits on 11 acres of hidden woodland sorcery wrapped around a private pond, just 10-15 minutes from the dead-eyed consumer hell-realm of Carytown, Richmond. Don’t let the word rehab fool you. This isn’t a fixer-upper. It’s a resurrection. A rewilding. A reclamation of space, soul, and sanity. And us? We’re not fresh-faced do-gooders. No, we’re something else entirely. We’ve hitchhiked and hopped through 49 states with nothing but a thumb and a mission. Ripped across Southeast Asia on a sputtering moped like some tropical ghost. Crossed the entirety of America solo on an old chopper, cursing every billboard and angel along the way. We’ve hosted drifters in our redwood grotto in Big Sur, fed mystics in my treehouse in Humboldt, CA — and now we’re hoping to get some like-minded travelers to help put some elbow grease into this ...

***Please note that I cannot accept more than one helper at a time and I cannot accept any helpers traveling with pets, so please do not ask.*** You will have endless opportunities to immerse yourself in nature, with beautiful hiking trails right across from the front door. There are lots of opportunities to work outdoors and live a life full of fresh air, beautiful views, and tons of nature and wildlife. I am a very driven, hands-on person who is mechanically inclined and do most of my own home maintenance so you may find me repairing plumbing, installing irrigation lines, fixing fences, repairing my 4-wheeler, using the chainsaw to cut up wood, working on the pool equipment, and many other repairs. I live on a 1.5 acre property with 4 horses and 2 dogs in the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains. I am in walking distance of miles of beautiful hiking trails, driving distance to the beaches and many beautiful attractions in Southern California. My home is like a vacation retreat. However...

Approximately 5 acres under cultivation. We follow all the organic standards, and above (since organic standards are constantly being downgraded by the USDA), but are not certified organic.

We are a well traveled couple living on the Tennessee River. We have had visitors from all over the world. We usually have several projects, some very interesting, some mundane. Surrounded by beautiful Prospect Park, great restaurants, music, wonderful culture, museums, theater, fun !

However...
