I am a wildlife carer and have wallabies in care and other native animals. We need help feeding these orphans and the other rescued and domestic animals. This includes cleaning pens, replacing pouches, washing pouches and bedding. Close by there is a 24-hour convenience supermarket, gas station, shopping mall, discount supermarket and large 24-hour pharmacy/ chemist warehouse. Tasks that are available to be done may include: general light gardening, removing weeds, cleaning gutters, basic paving, cleaning, washing of car, vacuuming, dusting, mopping floors, filing paperwork. We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . We have 120 species of bamboo. fruit trees ducks chickens and two dogs and lots of friendly wildlife and many useful plants. we are a wholesale bamboo nursery and also make one off bamboo creations. We are a 10 min drive from Airlie beach in the Whitsundays with 72 islands to sail to. there are many ways a helper can help and learn about permaculture and bamboo. You will have your own room here with wifi and the food is fresh and healthy. We have self contained accommodation in the garden if you like. And if you love fishing we catch and cook seafood. Our very friendly home on the Sunshine Coast is a lovely old traditional timber Queenslander full of character set on 1 and 1/2 acres of a bush block, high on a ridge.
