Hi, I'm Steve, I am a retired old fart at 65 and live alone, except for regular travelers I host. I live close the Strand (Beach) in Townsville in a 2 bedroom unit. I can offer you a king size bed in your own room. I used to be an active couchsurfing host but have given that away as i don't like the changes they have made to the way they operate now, nor the quality of surfers. I'm pretty open minded and I don't judge people. There is no work required here, just help keep the place clean and tidy. I prefer to share the evening meals as though it is your own home. I don't operate my home as a hostel and I am used to having people in my home, and it's a fairly relaxed environment. Basically I would just like you to come into my home and be a part of it and don't shit on the floor. The last few Helpers have become flatmates after a couple of weeks. The current helper has been here for 6 months and starts travelling very soon. The one before her was here 2 years. I am looking for a suita...

This is for those of you who plan ahead. We are full until mid August, in the middle of our best fishing season, wind permitting. Its also during what is normally our best weather. At least some of the time we should be cutting great timber from unwanted trees using a 26 inch/56cm bandsaw. So anyone who loves fishing, snorkelling on inshore reefs and is good at DIY or carpentry and loves the simple, quiet, rural life by the beach, next to the rainforest, this is for you 🤗. We appreciate help with DIY construction, repairs and maintenance, timber work, boat work, metal work repairs to trailers and for help with gardening, housekeeing, cooking, duck and chicken rearing and dog walking on the beach. Fishing, snorkelling, and rainforest walks can help occupy your spare time. We are looking for reasonably good DIY handymen and women, capable of working effectively, when necessary, on your own or as a pair and, ideally, someone who also has some gardening experience, but that is not r...

We are a group of friends who decided three years ago to restore a beautiful old village/motel in Jindabyne. We are looking for like minded individuals who are passionate about restoration/building and maintenance, love nature and have a good nature and willing to share a laugh over some good food. We have hosted people from all around the world, including all over Europe, Asia, North and South America. The motel is a 5-minute drive from local amenities such as supermarkets, shops, pubs, and a skate park. From June to September there are plenty of winter activities including skiing, tobogganing, and snowboarding at nearby ski resorts, just 30 minutes away. In summer, there are plenty of hikes, mountain biking, fishing, as well as the beach at Jindabyne Lake, Blue Lake and we are 30 minutes from the tallest mountain in Australia- Mount Koscioscko. Yarrangobilly Caves and nearby thermal pools are about one hour away. Our beautiful site features a serene river, where you can go...

We are a couple in our late sixties and have traveled overseas extensively and enjoy different cultures. Our neighbours have had helpx helpers before and highly recommend we do the same. We own and live on 5 acres with a 4 bedroom house in a rural setting. We have large gardens and fruit trees that need minor attention, nothing major ! We have a beach nearby and a great country pub and a large town 30 minutes south. For a real authentic Australian rural resort experience you definitely won’t be disappointed.

I am a wildlife carer and have wallabies in care and other native animals. We need help feeding these orphans and the other rescued and domestic animals. This includes cleaning pens, replacing pouches, washing pouches and bedding. Domestic animals include our 6 dogs, 2 horses, Peacocks, Guinea Fowl, Keats, 2 rescued pigs and chickens, ducks etc. A love for animals is a must. Also need help weeding and planting the vegetable garden. In addition we expect help with setting the table, cleaning up after meals. We do have a dish washer. Good WiFi. Not so good mobile coverage. Would like to learn and look after a vineyard and winery this season, no experience is necessary. Established in 1998 and hosting HELPXers for over 15 years, it is the only certified organic winery in the Perth region. It is situated in the Swan Valley, 7km from Elenbrook and 15km from the Perth airport. The vineyard has 3,000 vines, a large house we live in, a machinery shed, and a winery/distillery on the property. Winemaking occurs during the summer months from January to March. A large, spacious room with a double bed, attached to the house, has a private entrance. Applications for mature couples as applicants are now open. Opportunities for vineyard and maintenance work are available. Couples with Visitor Visas are also welcome. I want (NON-smoking) volunteers who wish to experience domestic, distillery, vineyard, and winemaking work. During the season, there are generally outdoor activities, such as winery and vine work, plus gardening if it is not raining or too hot. Be ...

I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

Our place sits high on a hill with spectacular 360 degree views of mountains, valleys, rolling hills and city lights overlooking all of Albury/Wodonga, twin cities on the Murray River. We are on the main freeway between Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney. Large luxury cedar and rock homestead on 100 acres. Lots of historic church features incorporated into the homestead and cute rustic outbuildings , antiques and artistic detail abound. Beautiful and unique large garden filled with 100+ sculptures, many paths to explore, ponds, organic vegetable and berry gardens, free range poultry and wildlife galore and many other interesting features. Lots of fun things to do and see here and everyone who has stayed has left with a happy and memorable experience. We have been a host farm for over 18 years now with well over 250 helpers having stayed. Usually it is only a one to two week stay but that is negotiable depending on how much work there is and how well we all get on. Sometimes I will accept ...

On May 8th I am moving to the Sydney suburb of Wollstonecraft which is 10 - 15 mins by suburban train from the centre of the city and about 10 minutes walk from both Wollstonecraft and Crows Nest stations. 15 Minutes from St Leonards station. Trains go into the city at least every 10 minutes - often more than that. I am fully vaccinated and require the same of a helper. Before you read further - I only take Non-smokers (meaning you do not smoke at all - not that you smoke outside). If I find that you do smoke you will be asked to leave that day - I (and my children when they are here) are all asthmatics. I also cannot do scents, particularly old spice, any spray on deodorant and lynx. I am allergic to mint so you cannot chew gum. Here are my boundaries: I try to be as eco friendly as possible and I ask you to consider the environment by not throwing into the bin things that can be recycled or composted and that you don't waste electricity or water. Australia is a country of drought...

Welcome to our little slice of country paradise! We're a retired couple living on a beautiful 50-acre property just 10 minutes from Donnybrook in the South West of Western Australia, around three hours south of Perth. Over the past 15 years we've been restoring the land by planting hundreds of native trees, regenerating the natural watercourse, and creating a peaceful place to enjoy nature. We grow plenty of our own vegetables, raise a few sheep, and sell our spray-free produce from our roadside stall. There's plenty to enjoy during your stay. Cool off with a swim in our large dam, explore the old railway trail, or wander along the beautiful Preston River that borders the back of the property. We also enjoy the occasional BBQ sundowner, a game of chess, and catching up with friendly locals. Staying in the house: We have two comfortable guest bedrooms available in our home, with a bathroom and shared laundry. Meals are prepared together, with everyone pitching in, and we're happy to c...

Room and simple breakfast of toast, tea or coffee, I can show you where to find free bread and there is generally some rice or pasta you can use, occasionally some fruit and vegetables, or other food included but not guaranteed. Ipswich is a lovely place in itself and is about an hours drive to Brisbane, about an hour to the Gold Coast, about an hour and a half to the Sunshine Coast or about an hour to the mountains in Toowoomba. Many visitors to Australia assume it will be hot here and in summer it is, in winter the temperature can be very cold. Make sure to pack some warm winter clothing if travelling in the winter months. I don't have fans or air conditioning so the temperature is what it is. It's hot in summer and cold in winter. Electricity has become too expensive for me to run heating or cooling appliances. I am not on a farm, it is a residential block in Ipswich. My house is small and cluttered and surrounded by trees. I need help to clean my home as I am always busy doing ...

Looking for helpers now!! Located in Melbourne's Southern eastern suburbs, only 1 hour by train to Melbourne CBD. We have a hobby farm with 2 cows, goats, alpacas, dogs, and cats. We are best suited to accommodate a couple or 2 friends travelling together and wanting to stay for 2 weeks or more. Helper accommodation is very neat self contained studio style cottage, with your own King Bed, Lounge, kitchen, bathroom and meals area. My husband and I have recently purchased an old 1850s house and farm and we are redoing the garden and paddocks and some renovations on the house. Fencing, painting , general cleaning up of and grounds etc. , planting tube stock trees, and some house cleaning . experience in fencing or gardening would be great. We are only 8 minutes from torquay beach and the great ocean road. We have a bus stop at our front gate that goes to the Surfcoast or into Geelong, Ballarat, Melbourne and many wonderful beaches are on our doorstep. There is a 24 hour apco service station also across the road from. Us with a supermarket. We have two children and one grandchild who live in the area so it’s a family atmosphere . We would like approx 4/5 hours per day of help. Therefore approx 20/25 hours per week. This can be spread over three to five days. Whatever suits so you can still get out and about in the area to sight see relax. We look forward to hosting and meeting new people. We will supply bre...

My farm, located near Kaniva, is a commercial agricultural enterprise in the Wimmera region of western Victoria (midway between Melbourne and Adelaide). It has been owned by my family for more than 130 years. In 2006 I purchased the major portion of the productive land from the family Estate, and now annually crops nearly 425ha to spring wheat, barley, oats, field beans and canola. I am fully responsible for the management and on-going development of the farm, with a "share-farmer" undertaking many of the farm labour components. I do not have enough work to keep you busy long-term, but I certainly have enough for 3-5 days. The deal I am offering is that you help me with general farm chores (e.g. burning up heaps of branches, some fencing repairs, cleaning up branches under trees, caring for my lawns and garden, cutting up firewood, planting farm trees, etc) and I provide free meals and accommodation and a modest hourly payment. Depending on the day/weather we would work for 4-5 ho...

Situated on the edge of the Great Divide, we are surrounded by great views, Kangaroos, Wombats, Echidna and numerous bird species including wedge tail eagles, Rosella's and Kookaburras. Just an hour from Melbourne [less from the airport] we can arrange pick up. Our farm has Highland Cattle, Chooks and a large Vegie garden/orchard. While we have no urgent work requirements and the farm is only our hobby [we are semi retired ] there is always something to do, however we have no paid employment available and cannot add points for visa extension. We have a spare room with double bed or we can accommodate 2 x singles as well. The nearest public transport is 15 minute drive and we can drop people of most days as we go past the station nearly every day. Our current projects are house painting, wood cutting and gardening.

My husband Tony and I, offer self-contained accommodation for short stays of a week or two for a couple or two friends (any genders) who would like to explore the beautiful Yarra Valley or who are in between jobs (Longer stays may be possible depending on whether we have family coming to stay and using the studio.) Our property, Lavender Farm, is about 6 kilometers from the small tourist town of Healesville in the Yarra Valley. The Yarra Valley is wine-growing region at the foot of the Great Dividing Ranges. It is about 1 hour by car from Melbourne. We have a lemon orchard, vegetable garden, horse paddocks and some bush. We are not a commericial lavender farm although we have a lot of lavender growing in the gardens. There are some rescue horses (not rideable) and a pony , chickens, very friendly family dogs and a swimming pool. (too cold at the moment!) Our daughters are grown up and living in Melbourne so we normally just see them on the weekend and when we look afer our gran...

Ideally with with a vehicle, there is no public transport here. 3 week minimum stay (longer stays preferred) If you’re looking for a peaceful rural place where you’re treated as a valued part of the household — not just extra labour — you may feel very at home here. We are a friendly farming couple in our 60s, and we’ve lived on this beautiful property for over 30 years. We’re about 35 minutes from the beach, on the ocean side of Mt Tamborine. We’ve been hosting helpers since 1998, and many travellers who stay with us become like family — while they’re here and long after they’ve gone.
