I’m Darrall, a long-time design educator and university adjunct working part-time from home, supervising PhD students and doing education research. It’s a unique home near Port Stephens where all the rooms are five-sided pentagons. The house, cottage and permaculture gardens sit close to the inland sea, bushland, beaches, and a village community. Two friends or couples are preferred, up to four guests at a time if the fit is right. The local village has a community garden, occasional cafe, tennis court, and activities in the Village Hall such as yoga, pilates, Tai Chi, Zumba, and community events. A car is not essential. The closest pick-up point is Karuah, which is on the Greyhound bus route from Sydney and can also be reached by local bus from Newcastle. Option 1 — Self-contained cottage:
A private cottage about 20 metres from the main house, with its own kitchen/dining area, bathroom/shower, lounges, two king-single sofa beds (or double), aircon and log fire (winter). Option 2 ...

Room and simple breakfast of toast, tea or coffee, I can show you where to find free bread and there is generally some rice or pasta you can use, occasionally some fruit and vegetables, or other food included but not guaranteed. Ipswich is a lovely place in itself and is about an hours drive to Brisbane, about an hour to the Gold Coast, about an hour and a half to the Sunshine Coast or about an hour to the mountains in Toowoomba. Many visitors to Australia assume it will be hot here and in summer it is, in winter the temperature can be very cold. Make sure to pack some warm winter clothing if travelling in the winter months. I don't have fans or air conditioning so the temperature is what it is. It's hot in summer and cold in winter. Electricity has become too expensive for me to run heating or cooling appliances. I am not on a farm, it is a residential block in Ipswich. My house is small and cluttered and surrounded by trees. I need help to clean my home as I am always busy doing ...

G'day. We are a small tribe of people consistin of 3 adults, 2 kids, 2 big emus and hundreds of plants and animals. There's always a community of people on the hill to do projects in the bush, building, food growing and more. We are spread accross 2 main shantys and small dwellings across the property. We live right up in the bush in mixed tree country, mainly a mix of tea tree scrub, grass land, dry sclerophyll forest and even buttongrass. It is managed in a variety of ways including cool burns, thinning, slashing and weir building. There are tracks all over to explore and a few caves to hang out in. There is a creek and a few dams. The bird life here is amazing. We do volunteer conservation work including putting up nestboxes with climbing gear high in trees, making ponds, encouraging native wildlife etc. We are 3km from the beach. We back on to a huge reserve so no Neighbors close and plenty of bush and wildlife. We are completely off the grid and have skills and knowledge to build,...

We are near the Shoalwater Marine Park and Penguin Island 40mins from Perth city centre. Very close to public transport, cafes and library. Ideal for beach walking, diving, swimming, cycling, fishing, sailing and windsurfing (beach is 60 metres away). Accommodation would take form of a fully insulated cute tiny garden room with access to undercover cooking area and bathroom. IT is small so please See photos. On week days we are usually working in Perth so we cant provide meals, but a well-stocked supermarket is 200 metres away. When possible we can take turns for meals if possible. We average 2/3 hours a day painting, plumbing gardening and other repairs and can negotiate best time to do that, for example maybe it’s more convenient to do two longer days during the week.Greg is usually available to help you with your car or take you fishing, boating or sightseeing if you’re willing to free him up from his other commitments. When you email please let us know when you plan to get to Per...

Witchcliffe .. quirky hippie town with bars, restaurants and cafes just 8km from Margaret River. I live in an Eco Village, walking distance to Witchy town. Come experience village life and walk amongst its amazing gardens. We have three dams, the largest being our swimming and kayaking haven. We each own our own homes and between about 20 houses, we share a communal cluster house orchard and chickens. My guest accommodation is in a converted shed with its own lounge, bathroom and loft sleeping. It has lovely views. Food - Witchcliffe has some restaurants and a small local shop for fruit, vegetables and lots of yummy foods. Helping hours - I’m flexible ie if the surf is up, work after the wind has come in. Want to go away overnight, then work more hours when here. Jobs to be done: Painting (just some finishing work to be done on garden structures) . Pruning, moving mulch, weeding, laying paving bricks. Building gardens for vegetables.

Hello, it's Stephen and Philamae here. We have a beautiful rural property in Buckland, Tasmania (45mins NE from Hobart airport). The views are stunning - the accommodation is lovely and we are running it as holiday accommodation as we move towards turning it into a funky retreat space. The experience of the place - and Tasmania as a whole - is soul stirring. Lots of beautiful animals surround us - sheep, wallabies, possums, echidnas, bunnies and the occasional deer. A pair of the endangered and majestic wedge-tailed eagles live 1km away and often soar above us. My website link below has a lot more photos of our place. We have a series of 7 wellness retreats running 5 June to end August: see our blog link below. The next specific needs are: a) 1 September (approx) onwards for at least 4 weeks. Need 1 or 2 helpers for houskeeping and also a big project to help sort; consolidate; move; sell the contents of 2 x 20ft storage containers in conjunction with Philamae's direction. b) any t...

Hi, I'm Nigel. I'm 84 years old and still active and enjoying life tremendously. I don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but so far I've managed to avoid growing up anyway. I've worked and travelled widely in my time and I still enjoy learning from others. I equally enjoy sharing some of the skills and knowledge I've picked up over a long and fulfilling lifetime. I live on a beautiful block of rural land (37+ acres), covered mainly in unspoiled local native bush, situated about 70 km south of Darwin CBD. The block has a long driveway, so there are no near neighbours or fences visible at all. Tranquility! I share my property with a wide range of wonderful native wildlife, so sorry, no pets allowed. I have a modern house, designed for energy efficiency, with ceiling fans and air conditioning when needed. You'll have a large airy bedroom with its own bathroom and toilet, plus shared use of the well-equipped kitchen (hint, I'm not much of a cook, so I hope you are) and livi...

I've previously been a Helpx host with my family winery and vineyard, as well as my farm property south of Adelaide. These days the winery is winding down, but in the past 18 months I've tripled the farm size to 130Ha (325ac). I'm currently growing hay and agisting sheep, with dozens of kangaroos for company. The farm is minutes from Victor Harbor (population 16,000), but the feeling is remote, as neighbouring houses can't be seen. The big projects at the moment are fencing and laying pipework for water for the sheep. There's also things like cutting firewood, machinery maintenance, road bulding, shed building and looking after a patch of native scrub. I have a covered orchard and the beginnings of a veggie garden, but I have no idea what I'm doing, so someone who could help with that would be much appreciated. The property is off-grid, but has all the modern conveniences of power, water, heating and air conditioning, all of which I've done myself. In the down-time I like to drive ...

Would like to learn and look after a vineyard and winery this season, no experience is necessary. Established in 1998 and hosting HELPXers for over 15 years, it is the only certified organic winery in the Perth region. It is situated in the Swan Valley, 7km from Elenbrook and 15km from the Perth airport. The vineyard has 3,000 vines, a large house we live in, a machinery shed, and a winery/distillery on the property. Winemaking occurs during the summer months from January to March. A large, spacious room with a double bed, attached to the house, has a private entrance. Applications for mature couples as applicants are now open. Opportunities for vineyard and maintenance work are available. Couples with Visitor Visas are also welcome. I want (NON-smoking) volunteers who wish to experience domestic, distillery, vineyard, and winemaking work. During the season, there are generally outdoor activities, such as winery and vine work, plus gardening if it is not raining or too hot. Be ...

I live between a yacht on Sydney Harbour and a house in a tall eucalyptus forest on the mid north coast of NSW, and need some assistance in working on the house and on another yacht.  I'm a carpenter who worked with National Parks and Wildlife for 25 years before retiring, and live with a small dog Billy. I've had many helpers come stay over the last few years and have been lucky to have so many interesting travellers stay.  My yacht, is currently on the hard at Whoota, where we are renovating her while helping with work on her. I often take helpers out sailing to see the magnificent Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House but this is not possible while she is being worked on. Yet, I hope to invite helpers out when she is back in the water. The house is located in Whoota, near Forster. It is surrounded by forest and located a 10 minute drive from pristine beaches, lakes, and bushwalks. There a lots of dolphins to see and beautiful areas to explore. The work we are doing on the house ...

This is for those of you who plan ahead. We are full until mid July, right at the start of our best fishing season and in the middle of our best weather when at least some of the time we should be cutting great timber from unwanted trees using a 26 inch/56cm bandsaw. So anyone who loves fishing, snorkelling on inshore reefs and is good at DIY or carpentry and loves the simple, quiet, rural life by the beach, next to the rainforest, this is for you 🤗. We appreciate help with DIY construction, repairs and maintenance, timber work, boat work, metal work repairs to trailers and for help with gardening, housekeeing, cooking, duck and chicken rearing and dog walking on the beach. Fishing, snorkelling, and rainforest walks can help occupy your spare time. We are looking for reasonably good DIY handymen and women, capable of working effectively, when necessary, on your own or as a pair and, ideally, someone who also has some gardening experience, but that is not really necessary, learn o...

Horse/animal lovers will be in heaven, helping on a farm in the Riverland, South Australia. Experience what it’s like to be on an outback station, while still being close to civilisation. I am on a farm in one of the Mallee areas of the Riverland, South Australia; in between Waikerie, Swan Reach and Blanchetown . It is a peaceful area, with beautiful sunsets and lots of wildlife to see; such as kangaroos, emus, many varieties of birds and if you are lucky; echidnas, wedge tail eagles and goannas. Waikerie is our closest town being approx. 27kms away (around 15-20 minutes by car). My daughter and I have 6,000 acres that is mainly used for cereal crops and sheep (it is run by my daughter and her husband). I am based here and my daughter and her husband live in the South East of SA. I also have horses which we have used on the farm and also for competition riding, an Australian cattle dog and a herd of cats (the cats live in the sheds). I am wanting some help with looking after the...

Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . Also doing a lot work to improve the land and infrastructure. There are over 4 kilometers of walking trails through gorgeous forest, on this completely vegan property, with mountainous views all over ranging from 150 to 230 meters above sea level. The beautiful forest trails have old growth national park like forest at the very top. Lots of wildlife to see , with all kinds of exotic birds , including families of black cockatoo’s which live here in the pine’s, and beautiful little kingfisher birds, yellow robins, willy wagtails and kookaburras to name a few. We have recently found koalas living on the property in the flooded gum trees, with many wallabies and goanna’s are everywhere in summer ! Lots of lovely contemplative spots to relax , .

We’d like to offer accommodation to a traveller for one or two weeks at a time. It’s a lovely en-suite space with amazing views. We are an Asian / British male couple, often living in Melbourne but currently enjoying Eumundi’s warm winters and nature. We like cooking , culture ,sports, music and nature. We welcome you to enjoy our 90% plant based meals or make your own food. Need someone to help around for some basic weeding, gardening and simple maintenance jobs approximately 2 to 3 hours daily. Our property is located in a quiet pocket of Eumundi surrounded by nature and mountains with amazing sunset view. 7 mins drive to town and 15 mins to Noosaville .
