We have no income from our property as we are always wanting to become more self-sufficient, so guests must be self motivated and hard working, and be able to contribute skills. We do not allow the use of chemicals (shampoo, sunscreen deodorants etc...) as our grey-water goes directly onto the food gardens, but we do supply our own home made organic soaps and creams. Our aim is to create a co-operative living space, so opportunities arise for short and long term or permanent stay. We have three children who we homeschool using natural learning methods. Our property is 33ha of native forest with two creeks located in subtropical NSW, 15 km from Lismore and 50 min from Byron Bay. Our focus is on enhancing the natural habitat for the abundant wildlife including wallabies, goannas, echidnas and birds. Varied tasks include assisting us with gardening, bush regeneration, maintaining bush tracks, general house and property maintenance. Good food and excellent private accommodation is in a self-contained unit 60 metres from our house. Spacious bedroom, bathroom, verandah and fully equiped kitchen. Office space with wifi and TV. Meals are shared or you may prefer to self cater with your preferred ingredients supplied. We usually have helpers stay one to two weeks then negotiable. I have a house with a 0.25ha garden that is part of a larger community . We are about 10 mins drive, or an easy hitch, from Byron Bay (and all its tourist attractions); Brunswick or Mullumbimby and 2 mins from the beach. I`m always glad of help with my 1/4 ha - projects like building the vegie garden; trimming back the ever enroaching bush, or projects around the house. The arrangement is 2 hours in exchange for accommodation (14 hours a week), looking after your own food but sharing our kitchen. Gondwana, the larger community that Lotus Ponds is part of, is about 50 people with a community house and hall with weekly community dinner and meditations, yoga, table tennis & pool tables with levels of activity that depend on who is here. This is a small regenerative herb farm located in the beautiful Huon Valley at Allen’s Rivulet, about 35 minutes south of Hobart. The time is minimum two week stay in exchange for a Regenerative Farming Certificate from our College Living Earth College www.livingearthcollege.org We are often looking for a calm, responsible and self organised person or couple to help care for the farm. This involves around 3 hours per day of steady daily care of the animals and gardens. Tasks include: Regenerative Farming feeding and checking ducks and chickens, watering plants and garden beds when needed, weeding and tending the herb garden, keeping a general eye on the place.
