We are a family of 4 offering a comfortable, self contained one bedroom unit to travellers in exchange for help with our garden, which we are gradually revegetating. Our children are 1 and 4 years old, so we welcome guests who enjoy being around little ones and who can be mindful of keeping noise low during nap times and evenings. We live in a very old (1825) home in Perth, a village 15km from Launceston, Tasmania. Perth Tasmania is much older than Perth Western Australia, and was part of the Penal Colony when Tasmania was first settled by the British. It is ten minutes from Launceston Airport and 20 minutes from Launceston and two hours from Hobart. We overlook the South Esk River. We are looking for helpers who love working in the garden and/or have some handyman skills, plus be able to keep the house neat for when we have guests staying. We have just over an acre of land which has a mix of gardens, so plenty of time would be spent in the garden. We regularly cook together and share meals with our volunteer helpers plus there is a small functional kitchen in the accommodation provided. I'm looking for couples or singles who are travelling around the South West in their Camper Van or Car with tent etc..., basically they need to be mostly self contained. I have some nice camp sites here that are clean, safe and located in a private, natural setting. If you and your partner would like to come, stay and help me here, please send me a message ! I can also probably help you with many things.., I might even be able to help you find local employment opportunities ! I have lived on my own little permaculture farm beside the Leeuwin/Naturaliste National Park forest since 1982. I have built my own home using local granite stone and timber( milled from the floor of my creek line). I am now fully 'off grid' in my solar active/passive house. There's still some painting(water based) work to finish the house off, plus I'm also percolating some plans to build a house connected greenhouse. I am currently seeking help from a couple of travellers for some basic property mai...

Hi There! My place is the odd one out on Helpx... a beautiful spot and feels rural but is actually right in close and easy walking distance to Hobart city with all her charms! About a ten minute downhill stroll to the water front and city. A little longer on the way home depending how fit you are. There is free parking on the road if you have a car but no issues getting around if you don't. I'm also very happy to drive you places you wish to go or visit. I'm a hard working small business owner in the city who loves nature and being near water during my down time. Meeting new people and share living are two things I have done most of my life and love...I find HelpX is great for this and I've met some great new friends over the years as a HelpX host. My spare room has a queen sized bed so is suitable for a single (superhero) helper or a couple, it's a really quiet and comfortable place. I like to cook for and with helpers and always make sure you have everything you need to eat and b...

We live on a 5 acre hobby farm in the beautiful Huon Valley, Southern Tasmania. Our family consists of three young adult children (two live at home), two horses, many chickens, ducks, geese, goats and two gorgeous dogs. We grow organic vegetables and breed heritage chickens in an attempt to be more sustainable. Jobs involve general gardening, helping with the animals and housekeeping. If you would like a Tassie small farm experience message us with some details of the work you have previously done. We have separate accommodation, with a bathroom. All our HelpXers have loved working and living with us and I hope you will too (please remember Tassie is a cold place in winter). There are many areas of natural beauty in Southern Tasmania which are all fairly close to us. For example, the Hartz mountains, Hastings Caves and the Tahune Airwalk. We live close to a sleepy village called Cygnet and Hobart is only a 40min drive away. (Unfortunately we can't approve 2nd year visas)

Hi travellers, I'm looking for help for a few days up to a week at my home by the ocean. There are always maintenance jobs for this old house, maybe some gardening, really, nothing very difficult! Meanwhile, if you need accommodation in Adelaide, my house is about 25 minutes south of the city and two minutes from the train station to get you in and out of town. It's really close to the ocean on top of a cliff and about 10 minute walk along the cliffs to get down to the most stunning beach. Another 5 min walk from there to the pub overlooking the beach. The house is amazingly different from other houses, looking like an old Queenslander with huge amount of character, recycled windows and doors, leadlights, balcony and gargoyles on the roof !!. My house is two story at the front, so your room is downstairs, slightly separate from the main living, giving you some privacy with a lovely garden to look out to. Less than 5 minutes walk to the end of my street at the top of the cliffs overlo...

I am an aquatic ecologist who has fortunately been working out of our coastal rain-forest property for 35 years. Driven by strong curiosity, I have recently been developing long-term data sets on the animal life in the forest that surrounds our home, plus on tropical marine fish that are steadily increasing in numbers under the influence of climate change at the nearby very beautiful Seal Rocks area (for details click on my website link below). We have 20 acres with 2 acres cleared and the remainder moist tall forest and rainforest. It is on the coast 3 hrs drive north of Sydney (1.5km from Smiths Lake; 30km south of Forster) See my blog link below to glimpse the accommodation, typical work and fun. We have a 180 squ m vegetable garden at times needing attention which has been enclosed to keep out our friends the wallabies (pademelons), possums, parrots and native bush turkeys. Bush regeneration is another activity as well as assisting in ecological surveys of local rivers when t...

Hi you young and beautiful travelers, Bundaberg is a less known touristic town, with a mild climate, beautiful beaches and wonderful surroundings. It is also an agricultural country town with many backpackers hostels . With a bit of lack there might be opportunities for paid work on a farm. It’s only 350km north of Brisbane and easily reachable by train. My home is only a few minutes drive from the town center, yet secluded and peaceful, sitting on 2.5 acres. I am looking for people who would like to visit this promising coastal town and help with general house and backyard maintenance, around 4 -5 hours a day, 6 days a week. The person helping me will have a home away from home and a cosy room to rest in. I am hoping he/she will treat the place with respect and consideration, observing the few requirements related to the use of bathroom and kitchen. Otherwise, regretfully, we will have to part ways sooner then expected. A good home cooked meal and an occasional glass of wine is...

I have a lovely natural building studio space, made of super adobe, that is used as a meditation/healing/sacred temple space, set in a lovely slightly wild permaculture garden, with a bee hive, flowers, veggies etc. The studio would be completely your own private space. I am happy to share some meditation/healing practices with you if you are interested. I would love help in the garden, with weeding, mulching, planting, harvesting and helping to make the garden creative, abundant, fertile and beautiful. Also need help going to the beach to collect seaweed for the garden beds. I would like to provide some meals, and have you be independent for some as well. I really like to meet and be social with helpers , and also to spend a lot of time in meditation and writing. I live in a little rural suburb near a beautiful mangrove area , and I am 40 minutes from wilsons prom, and less to other beautiful areas. A drivers license would be very helpful .

Beautiful 56 acre mountainous property, completely off grid with a small hardwood house /cottage that I have built using milled wood from trees on the property , with lovely views everywhere . Also doing a lot work to improve the land and infrastructure. There are over 4 kilometers of walking trails through gorgeous forest, on this completely vegan property, with mountainous views all over ranging from 150 to 230 meters above sea level. The beautiful forest trails have old growth national park like forest at the very top. Lots of wildlife to see , with all kinds of exotic birds , including families of black cockatoo’s which live here in the pine’s, and beautiful little kingfisher birds, yellow robins, willy wagtails and kookaburras to name a few. We have recently found koalas living on the property in the flooded gum trees, with many wallabies and goanna’s are everywhere in summer ! Lots of lovely contemplative spots to relax , .
