Farm Animal Rescue is a registered charity that rescues farm animals from abuse, neglect and situations where they are in danger and provides them with a forever home. We are offering travelers a warm, comfortable two-story Celery Top Pine Pole home we built ourself. You will enjoy magical views of the ocean and mountain and will wake to the sounds of the wild birds that flock to our food and water bowls. We are regularly visited by possums, wallaby's and various other wildlife. If you're lucky you may even see a Tasmanian Devil. We aspire to a sustainable way of living and adore our large established organic garden, which we are needing help with maintaining. We ask helpers to provide a minimum of 4.5 hrs of work each day for 5 days with two full days off. If you would like a day off after working a few days we ask you to make up the hours on other days. Some helpers also purchase their own food and only work 2.5 hours a day if this suits you better. We are also very flexible and happy to listen to your requests. We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. Over the next two years we will renovate and paint the home, install new kitchen and two bathrooms. Hi, we’re Shari and Ross. We’re both recently retired (pharmacist and nurse), in our 60s, having met while travelling in Tibet nearly 40 years ago. Shari is from New Zealand and Ross is from Australia. Our interest in travel continues, with our focus on Asia and the Pacific, and we have many traveller friends who drop by to stay. Our main interest though is in caring for our land. We live on a beautiful 52 hectare property near Lansdowne on the Mid North Coast, New South Wales.
