Looking for a lovely volunteer to join us and our animals. AVAILABILITY FROM the middle of May. Please contact us if you are interested in helping look after our wonderful animals. Experience with horses is useful but not necessary as long as you are happy to care for them. You will live as part of the family - during your stay, our home will be your home. We are a married couple living on a property with our DOGS, HORSES and some elderly but treasured chickens. Depending on the time of year, we also run a small scale rescue and rehabilitation centre for hedgehogs. There are stunning views looking out over a Devon Wildlife Nature Reserve and beautiful countryside. We live in a very attractive rural area of Devon on the outskirts of a beautiful old village called DOLTON (please look on "Google Earth") about a 45 minute drive from Dartmoor National Park. The village has a very friendly and active community, a church, 2 excellent traditional pubs, a post office and a small shop AND ex...

We are in the process of renovating an old house in the Pyrenees. There is only decorating to do such as stripping paint of walls and woodwork, and repainting. There might be the occasional carpentry to do also, nothing too complicated. We need help 5 hours per day, five days per week. Weeding, pruning trees, making paths. We are looking for help from two strong and healthy individuals to assist with a house redecorating project and gardening, trimming trees, path making etc. This requires physical strength and stamina. PLEASE NOTE WELL: we absolutely cannot host anyone with any pre-existing health issues, physical or mental (we are not medically trained to manage such conditions), such as hay fever, any other allergies, sensitivities or intolerances. We live in a small village with some shops and a climbing centre and a river just opposite the house. We have a quite a size garden where we grow vegetables, fruit bushes and trees. Here, we have spectacular mountain views on our do...

DUE TO A CANCELLATION WE CAN OFFER THE WHOLE MONTHs OF MAY AND JUNE. WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS FROM BEGIN OF SEPTEMBER TO NOVEMBER. We are a family of four and have small farm at the coast of the Baltic sea close to Oskarshamn. The farmhouse is more than a hundred years old and is located just a few meters away from a lake, which we can use exclusively for fishing, swimming and anything else. A good work-life-balance is very important for us, and this is also what we have in mind for our helpers. It's not only working here, we also want to show our helpers the laid back Swedish lifestyle here at the Eastern coast. Both sides should feel that they did benefit from your stay at our place. Hein: I was born in the north of Germany, and my profession as a carpenter has a very important role in the realization of our dream life. I’ve always felt at home out in nature, fishing, sailing or mushroom picking,. I like to work in the garden and cultivate home-grown fruits and vegetables. ...

We are a cultural and arts community that is working towards being self-sustained. The community is situated in the mountains of Monchique, Portugal surrounded by nature. Our community provides an alternative way of living with permaculture gardens, farm animals, sustainability projects, and arts and cultural workshops. It is a great place to come to meet other like-minded people if you are passionate about sustainability and alternative living. We hold community meetings throughout the week alongside activities and workshops, such as quiz nights, dance nights and yoga classes. If you have something you are passionate about and want to share with others, we would love for you to run a workshop. Hola todas! My place is an old grain mill with half a hectare of land. I live here for more than 17 years and hosted many volunteers. Work is mostly in the garden. Weeding, digging, planting, watering, harvesting and off course eating. There is a big cat family living on the land. Help in the kitchen is welcome. Special dietary requirements must be met by the helpers. In the area there are many activities possible. More yoga teachers than there are yoga students. Meditations, dancing, healing, massage, channeling, singing,....! Many communities of all sorts (hippy, midwives, subud, soefie). Hiking in all directions. Even skiing starting beginning of December. I try to keep a healthy environment, so no drugs that cloud your spirit. No dogs either. People mostly stay between one and two weeks. Work is about 5 days a week, 4 hours a day. Food and lodging included. Flexible. Work depends on peoples abilities. During summer months (June until September) I don't host because of high te...

We are a family living in the beautiful village of Herand in the middle of Hardanger. We live close to the fjord and have an accounting firm and a software company that we live off of + some rental of beds in the summer. We have a small greenhouse and a small farm where we have some vegetables. Summer is a busy time and we need 2-3 positive people to help us with different work. We live by the harbour, and have a small farm 2 km away. We have boats, kayaks, canoes and paddleboards. You can use a cabin in the mountains if you wish. The area is well suited for walking or cycling. Normal working hours are 4-5 hours per day.

We are both retired and live in a converted barn in about two acres of land. The nearest town is Villefranche de Rouergue which is ten kilometres away. We have lived in France long enough to appreciate what we call proper food so. we strive to vary the diet so that no main meal is repeated for at least 14 days (unless specially requested) It may be French, it may be British, or it may be a mixture of French and British and on occasions you will taste the local delicacies We are very flexible about working hours all we ask is that in return for five hours work per day, five days a week, at a time to suit yourself, we will provide you with good healthy tasty food and a private comfortable room which has TV and en-suite facilities, If you are a couple who wish complete privacy, we could provide you with a separate self-contained apartment. Must be non-smoker and we find that feeding vegans is difficult. Please note. If you want to practice your English, then we are your ideal hosts a...

I am NOT going to text back. Apollon is a small fishing village in the northern Naxos. The distance from the port (Naxos Town) is 36km but the bus sometimes takes the long way through the mountains (52km). There are 3-5 buses daily from Naxos Town to Apollon and vise versa. The first bus leaves from Apollon at 7 in the morning and tha last at 18.00. The first from Naxos Town leaves at 9.00 and the last at 3.30. That's in the high season (July and August). In Apollon village there are no night clubs. The clubest place is the hotel bar and even this is chill out bar not a dancing bar. Apollon is a summer village. In winter time there are about 100 heroic people but in summer ...

Hi, I’m Toby, 48, from the UK. I am slowly bringing back to life a beautiful old French farm property in the Dordogne. It was previously renovated into a 16-bedroom hotel back in 1990 and sits in peaceful rural countryside, surrounded by sunshine, wildlife, vineyards and quiet country views. The house is in the French wine region between Bergerac and Saint-Émilion, around 60 km from Bordeaux and just a few kilometres from Sainte-Foy-la-Grande train station. At the moment I am working on site mostly on my own while my family is back in the UK. Replacing windows, protecting the house from the weather and keeping the garden under control has become a lot of work, so I would really appreciate some friendly help. I used HelpX once before and had a good experience, so I thought I would try again this year. The kind of help I need: The work is not usually very technical or heavy. It would mostly be practical jobs around the house and garden, such as: - clearing and organising rooms - ...

French Chateau under renovation in quiet rural location, close to local village. We are looking for help with building renovation work, decoration and services in the main building, landscaping of the gardens and woodland maintenance. The top floor of the chateau is finished and accommodation is in your own room on the top floor of the building (see photos for a picture of one of the helper rooms), which has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a cinema all finished and fully furnished. The ground and first floors are both partially completed. The ground floor kitchen, utility room, billiards and dining room have been completed. Full board included, mainly eating outside in the summer when weather permits. Helpers, family and friends all eat together. Since there may be a number of family, friends and helpers at the house at any one time, unfortunately we are not able to accommodate vegans or people with special dietary requirements or food allergies There is plenty to do...

Hello, I Luvertin or family of Mombracco e’ a farm born in 2016 from zero, we renovated an old building and built the first stable for our goats with our own hands, with sacrifice and dedication we have recovered abandoned land and we are still doing it. Over the years we have participated in development projects and have built a new stable and a new wooden building, we have built the dairy to produce cheese. We are now producing and selling our products. We'd love to find some of the people who can help us on our journey. We need to start over with a family garden, raising chickens for self-consumption. We need to expand spaces for the family that has grown up and for guests. Claudio is’ really skilled new manual labor and can't wait to pair him with a handsome man to teach him and build something beautiful! Our e’ family of Claudio and Jessica with 6 children aged 14, 12, 10, 8, 5 and 0! We live in a fabulous area of the COTTIAN Alps! Monviso in the Po Valley, on the Mombracco....

My friend bought this beautiful old farm in Bjarnarfjordur witch is in the west fjords of Iceland And the westfjords were selected as top destination in the world by Lonely Planet for 2022 No one has lived there for the last 20 years so there’s plenty of things to do Mainly it’s taking care of the eiderducks (put up flags and scarecrows to keep the artic fox and seagulls away from the area) The eider nests on small islands close to the farm so we will need to take a boat or a kayak and row to the islands After the nesting season we pick up the down that they left in the nest And another thing is feeding the rainbow trout that we will be farming in tanks on land Also we have to paint and fix the old house We have our own geothermal hole that produces lots of hot water Even though it’s seems remote it’s only 35km to the next town Hòlmavík where there’s a supermarket, bank and basically everything you need From June to October we are doing whale watching trips from Hólmavík and mo...

In the middle of our beautiful garden, and separate to the main house is a Holiday Cabin, with sleeping space for up to 3 people and its own toilet and shower. This will be your own private living space while staying with us. About Us I’m Marijn and I am an artist (writing and painting), chef and bartender and work different hours each week, but am home often to work around the house. My partner works full time for UPS and is away from home from 5am-7pm therefore access to the main house is only until 8:30pm so he can get a good sleep. We are a gay couple, open minded, and non-religious. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats which are very friendly and love to...

My name is Esperanza, I run a language school. I'm looking for an easy going native English speaker to help us with conversation classes and different activities. It is a great educational project where we aim to develop students interest in the language in a natural way. We live in a nice area surrounded by mountains, our house is big , so we recently started an online rental program to meet new people from all over the world. The language school is 8 minutes away on foot from our house. I live with my son, Mikel, who is a university student. While you stay with us, you will be able to take part in lots of activities. Zalla is a town with lots of facilities where you can do nearly everything you can imagine. If you are interested in learning Spanish, we will be more than happy to help you! We live 20 minutes from Bilbao in a lovely town called Zalla. There is a good bus/train service to Bilbao. Volunteers also can visit, Santander, San Sebastian, Burgos, Pamplona either of these ci...

A small farm (5 hectares, half of which is forest) in a quiet green valley, 1 hour walk from the village. The railway station (7 km) is Fabro-Ficulle, halfway between Rome and Florence. (of course we' ll come fetch you at your train arrival!) Here live funny dogs (4 adults), all of them often in the house, and two cats too. Downstairs my Ceramic Studio, sometimes in need of some "housework". The things we need help with are ( according to the season) mow the lawn, pruning, collecting and chopping firewood ...but mainly rebuilding some order here and there, harvesting olives in late October, clearing, cleaning, painting, repairing, reinventing spaces and so on. In summer I am also engaged with the Thermal Park "Bagno del diavolo", it is a magic wonder place, and might need help with the pool to clean and other things . We cook creative healthy meals, mainly without animal products. Usually - as a guest- you have a self contained room (photo), but when it is engaged you' ll...

We are Ines and Stefan Grillmair living with our Kids Heidi (8), Nino (6) and Robin (4) at a small farm in Bachmanning, Upper Austrian countryside. We moved in this 400-year-old house in 2023, after a year of maintaining the main building. At the moment we have 5 sheep mowing the steep land in the back yard. We look forward doing some gardening and pasture work in 2025. For that reason, we definitely look for handy helpers that are used to work with tools and own hands. We stick to helpx recommended 4 hours of help per day, and appreciate self-responsible management on this. We are self-employed, our daily job is all about coffee. We are Barista, run shops in the City of Wels and Salzburg and work most days at home. We know HelpX from our Work&Travel experience in New Zealand, a decade ago. We enjoy being a Host now. Our House is located in the so called “Voralpenregion” which means, that it`s close to the Alps, especially Salzkammergut. By car or train you reach Gmunden (40 min)...

Hello, my name is Florent, I'm 45 years old, I was a chef for about twenty years, and since 2017 I've been a spirulina producer. Spirulina is a microalga that's very rich in nutrients. It's a very environmentally friendly crop, requiring little energy and no pesticides. Spirulina needs sun and warmth to grow. The harvest season in our region runs from April to October, and it's during this period that I'm interested in hosting someone (I don't need two people at the same time, one is enough). I already have people helping me until the end of july, so I'm looking for someone from this period. Since 2017, I worked with a partner who left for other ventures at the beginning of this year, and I now work alone. We've already had several interns on our farm. I need someone to help me out on the farm with various tasks, as we do everything ourselves: harvesting the spirulina, cleaning, labeling, packaging, general maintenance and odd jobs, communication, deliveries, farm tours, online or...

Hi! I'm Tonje and I moved to my farm in 2020. And there's always a lot to do here. This small farm is in a very small town, by the fjord in Hardanger. Its a good place for hiking and culture. The area is quiet and scenic. The closest cities are Odda and Bergen. The bosses of the house are 4 dogs and 3 cats. Right now I don't have any farm animals of my own. But the neighbor's sheep live here too. I would have been very grateful for various help on my small farm. The work can be very varied. But I need help with maintenance of the outdoor area, wood working, chopping firewood and snow shoveling. I also have an airbnb, so cleaning, organize and tidying jobs are also tasks that I may need help with. Help are appreciated a lot. For your help, I can offer beautiful scenery, food and a private bedroom.

Sorry folks, but we are now fully booked until the beginning of September 2026. There may be a cancellation, but these are very rare, but if you are in the area, reach out, we love to chat :) As well as the normal homesteading tasks, if you want to learn about wine making, bee keeping, self defense, jewellery making, or help Tony with his self defense book and video courses, we could be a great match. Have a think, take a look at our reviews and if you are interested, drop us a line, *** Our beautiful countryside homestead (only 5 acres so not really a farm) is in the mountainous hills above the historic castle town of Caccamo, Sicily. It is surrounded scraggy mountains and long valley walks. It is perfect for hiking or just relaxing in the sun with a good book. Within easy traveling distance for those interested in exploring this culturally rich island, is the seaside town of Cefalù or even the main capital city of Palermo, both are easily accessible by bus and train from the lo...

2 Small farms turned into the one near the West Coast of Clare. We keep lots of farm animals like cattle, horses, donkeys and sheep. We produce a wide range of vegetables for ourselves and some for selling. We have two children, went to primary Steiner/ Waldorf school; Frank (25) and Fina(21) and they love having volunteers around the place. Fina is doing equine studies and Frank studies horticulture and loves travelling. We hope you have the ability to adapt to our for most of you different and simple life-style and enjoy farmwork with irregular hours at times, and you will get a true sense of farming life-style! It is important to realise beforehand that you are a volunteer who gets the opportunity to join into our family home/life so please do not compare with a regular paid job.. Most important is that you are happy and enjoy your stay with us... We offer healthy food, wonderful sunsets and rainbows, some Irish traditional music, and the possibility to learn more about old style f...

We live in a small village with some shops and a climbing centre and a river just opposite the house. We have a quite a size garden where we grow vegetables, fruit bushes and trees. I like to work in the garden and cultivate home-grown fruits and vegetables. ...

We have a vineyard, olive trees and vacation houses near Tropea in Calabria. We need a couple to help us for some week from september to june for vintage, olive harvest, gardening, general maintenance and internet announcements. In autumn, winter and spring we have a lot to do in the vineyard, with the olive trees, the house and garden. Accommodation in a full equipped chalet offered. It is better to COME WITH CAR or rent it here. We expect you to work 2 and half hours a day (16-20) hours a week. You should buy and cook your food. We are used to give local products and teach you how to prepare traditional dishes. We appreciate if you work more hours on weekends because we are at home. You have a free day in the week. If we have time, we can show you around our region and our white sandy beaches. We would be glad to welcome people from all over the world to our home. We prefer couples. One of the best things here is the variety of tasks you can do as a volunteer, which gives you the opportunity to learn new skills and discover what you enjoy doing most. We have a combination of short-term and long-term volunteers and on average we have between 10 to 20 volunteers and resident...

Hello everyone. We urgently need help with the animals and some work on the farm... So I really need one or two people to take care of the animals...My son does some work, but he has to leave early in the morning and come home late in the evening because of his studies...So that would be a valuable help to us.Ideally, of course, for 3 or 4 weeks, but if possible, just two weeks. This will also be a great help. Helping with partial construction of a small apartment on a farm. Wall assembly, electrical installation, plumbing and sanitary installation, some carpentry work ....
