Kia ora, we extend a warm invitation to host a physically strong, fit and capable couple for a span of approximately one week from early December. Our home is nestled in semi-rural Paremoremo, a mere 10-minute drive from central Albany on Auckland’s North Shore. This area is full of serene natural beauty, enveloped by lush vegetation, and great views of the upper harbour. We are lucky to have an abundance of native birdlife which we marvel at every day. Paremoremo is only about 20 minutes drive away from beautiful white-sand East Coast beaches, which are good for swimming and also sometimes have great surf. Additionally are within an hour's reach of the rugged Waitakere bush ranges and the distinctive black-sand beaches of the West Coast, which offer regular awesome opportunities for surfing and day treks. As a couple in our late fifties, Russell has a full-time role as a Project Manager and is keen to help you get started on property-related projects. Amanda, a Nurse, works three da...

Kia ora We have a small flower farm in the Bay of Plenty, between Tauranga and Katikati. The flower farm is set amongst the trees and gardens of our two acres, which has spectacular views out to sea and across to the Kaimai Ranges. My husband has a small olive grove, we have a wide range of fruit trees and grow seasonal vegetables. Our little guest cottage (see the attached photos) has a bedroom, bathroom and private verandah, and we provide all your meals. We also have a swimming pool. If you have some gardening, horticulture, landscaping or similar experience, or would like to learn, we'd love you to come and stay with us. We are looking for help in our large rambling garden which is full of trees and flowers - jobs like edging garden beds, applying mulch, pruning shrubs. I'm happy to share my gardening knowledge. There are beautiful beaches and bush walks about 30 minutes away, and we are well located for visiting Rotorua and the Coromandel. Auckland is just over 2 hours away. T...

Hi, my name is Marianne. I live on a classic New Zealand "tree quarter acre section" on a north facing (all day sun) hobbit hill, looking down to Oamaru. If you arrive early enough at my kitchen window or even up on the jungle hill behind the cottage, you can see the sea and watch the sunrise. A 10 minute stroll down Eden Street gets you either to the CBD or to the shoreline. I am providing three basic meals per day as well as a comfortable and quiet room for your stay and to relax after our daily four hours of working together "out there", somewhere on some befitting project. Currently the main focus is on landscaping, forging a pathway up the hill via carving out soil on one side and adding to the other side, creating little embankment walls in the process. Most of these embankments will be made from recycled Oamaru natural stone, a few with recycled glass bottles. Our white Oamaru sandstone has attracted various sculptors to our town, because it is soft enough to be cut and carved...

We run a three bedroom accomodation located in the beautiful historic area of Kerikeri just up from the Stone Store. We are looking for preferably a single person (ranking as mature) interested in staying at the lodge and taking care of the general running of things (around 2-4 hours per day , negotiable) This is very relaxed and mostly entails greeting guests in the afternoons and showing them to their rooms (only when we have bookings), cleaning rooms if the cleaner is away, taking bookings as well as some general property maintenance. You will stay in a separate part of the lodge with full kitchen, private room and bathroom. I am generally around the lodge most days but leave in the evenings as I live with my partner out of Kerikeri. So we work as a team. This means you will likely be taking care of yourself in the evenings, so being able to cook is important. (Potentially not as social at it has been in the past when my son and his partner were living there full time) . We inc...

My property is 10 hectares on the West Coast of the South Island, which starts at the coast with sand beach and sunsets and heads inland 1km through native wetlands and forest. Approximately 20km from Westport, 1km from Tauranga Bay! Public transport is limited? I'm a Certified Plumber and Drainlayer by trade but recently retired to work on property (next stage of life!) I have hosted many people through Couchsurfing over the years! Helpx is a new concept for me I purchased the property which is in need of a lot of work to tidy up, contouring/fencing/and planting trees etc. I'm now into planting out and setting up orchard also clearing introduced plants and replanting with natives. Current projects are building a new cottage for myself which is at the internal painting stage! and similar 2-bedroom cottage as a guest house which is at the internal lining and painting stage! both will be total off grid power and water supply. Next on the list is building a hot house and shade house I'...

We live in a town called Warkworth, 50 minutes drive ( by car ) north of Auckland CBD. We are: Jasmine 45 and Sharyn who is 48. We are both currently designing board games. When Jasmine is free and feeling okay she may be able to take you to show you some boardgames. If you have interest in the board game design process she is happy to involve you including playtesting designs she is working on. Sometimes Sharyn also shares her game designs as well. Our property is a rural lifestyle property. Our home is a modern blue bungelow and has an indoor jungle. We have...

We have space available for a one or two people from right now the 20th October until the 30th (so just over one week). We have three small cabins, two with a double bed and one with a single bed so room for three helpers normally but only two at the moment. All the helpers share a kitchen and bathroom. Right now we need help with digging and moving a building. We are a great place to start or end your time in New Zealand as we are only 45 minutes drive from Auckland airport. The work will be varied and interesting but usually building and garden based. It will include finishing off an underground earth bag hobbit hole. We have a passion for earth building and organic gardening. Its good if you are over the age of 20, are self motivated and can work unsupervised. We are located on Auckland's beautiful West Coast only 40mins drive from Auckland central city. We operate Muriwai surf school and adventure hire centre at Muriwai Beach. The deal is 2 hours work per day per person for each n...

Spring has sprung and work has begun. We are now are now taking a small break but can accommodate another help as from third week in November. Feel free to enquire At this point we would welcome couples or singles. We always need help in the large garden and olive and hazel nut grove as well as other farm chores. Couples or singles with transport is preferred as we are off the main public transport route and approximately one hour and I have no south of the centre of Christchurch so ideal for folk heading either north or south. We can consider folk and make some adjustment with no vehicle though as there are buses that pass by the main South Road not too far from our farm. Our current work programme is always being expanded so always plenty to do here particularly in the garden. If you consider you have some special talent to offer, please contact us. Helpers with carpentry skills or handyman/woman skills are particularly welcome. We are meat eaters so catering for non-me...

Hi travellers, welcome to NZ! I found out about helpx from travellers overseas and thought I would try it. We live on a sheep and beef farm 35 minutes east of Masterton, 15 minutes from Riversdale beach and 25 minutes from Castlepoint beach. I live with my partner Mel and daughters Kenzie (4yrs ) and Emmie (1yr). We are looking for 2 people to help. We require 1 person to help on the farm and 1 person to help watch our daughters :) You will have your own room, food supplied, Internet and washing machine. We can pick you up from Masterton. I have travelled a lot and enjoy meeting new people. I think a travelling experience is most enjoyable when a local shows you the local sites, cultures and attractions. I have had many friends, who I have met overseas, visit me and I enjoy being host and enhancing their NZ experience. And when I visit them they do the same for me. Alex, Mel, Kenzie & Emmie

We have recently built a new 3 bedroom eco-home within Braemar Eco-Village in Nelson South. The eco-village is a farm-like property with 13 households co-owning sheep, organic gardens and orchards, and even a climbing wall! There are walks in the hills nearby, and public buses stop nearby on Waimea Road. We are just 2 km from the city centre, and have a bicycle that can be used by guests. The house is near a small creek, and is sunny and warm and peaceful. We have a small [non-certified] organic home garden with vegetables, flowers and fruit trees, and we welcome guests who are able to help with gardening, cooking, or general home chores, and/or playing with a 5 yr old, while I do these things :) We would ask for around 4 h per day of time x 5 days per week in exchange for board, and we have unlimited wifi. We are a 47 yr old woman, who is a working marine scientist and my 6 yr old boy. We cook mainly organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, nightshade-free food, but guests are welco...

Looking for helpers who can ideally commit to a minimum of 2 weeks and preferably longer. In return you will have your own self-contained, private, peaceful accommodation, with en-suite, washing machine, kitchen and verandah with beautiful views of rural land and Tasman Bay. Wifi, power and water included plus food. You must be physically strong, hard-working, practical and fit, and not afraid of getting your hands dirty. Beautiful hill country sheep and cattle farm, with views of the sea and mountains. You must enjoy working with animals, be kind, respect and care for them. There is plenty to do all year around and depends on the season. We offer plenty of general farm work experience, gardening, fire-wood splitting, weed-spraying and or grubbing. There are always fencing and construction projects if this suits you too. The vegetable garden is organic and I use permaculture methods where possible. Only non-smoking, drug-free helpers please. Hello and welcome to our symbiotic living project. Our 20 acre hobby farm is in peaceful surrounds, with river access for swimming and water play; we are within 20 minutes of various stunning beaches, bush walks, Tairua, and Whitianga. We have 2 rescue cows, 5 sheep plus 3 new spring lambs, 2 cats, some chickens (and a rooster!) and 2 boisterous, friendly and fun German Shepherds. We are always happy to share our land with others. We are slowly transforming our farm paddocks through the addition of native and edible plantings, community garden area development, compost loos, solar shower, deck making and cottage building. We aim to create a magical space for many to benefit from and seek many hands to make light work of our various projects. We have just planted 400,000 sunflowers which will be blooming in January, it's going to be epic! Tasks include gardening, mulching, planting, cleaning, and light building if that's in your skillset. We are always working on improving our infrast...

We live with our 3 young children on a farm just before Ngunguru on the famous Tutukaka Coast. Our property is 42 hectares filled with native bush, waterfalls, recent pine and manuka plantings, streams and pastures. There is lots to explore on our property and the surround coastlines. We have some cows, chicken and pigs on the wee plot, along with countless native birds. There is a free standing cottage on the property which is currently being tenanted, and currently a tiny house is being built on leased land in a corner of our property. Attached to the house is a guest bedroom and bathroom which gives you privacy and space. In exchange for meals and board, we would appreciate help on the farm with gardening, landscaping, weeding, planting natives and other projects we have on the farm. We can either do 4 hours help a day, or combine sessions, to have days off. Any experience with farming and horticulture would be appreciated but is not required. We have a million and one ideas and...

Do you long to step away from the outside world for a while and immerse yourself in nature ? Then look no further as we are looking for helpers in our wee piece of Paradise at the moment ......... Our farm is 100 acres of deer-fenced land on the Otago Peninsula. The help we require is some basic garden maintenance, wood splitting, weed-eating etc. We are an animal besotted family with 2 horses, 2 cats, and 2 dogs (please NOTE we have retired drugs dogs so if you use even occasionally, whilst we are not judging you, please don't bother offering your services !). We need helpers who are energetic, honest, fun, caring, conscientious, can get on with jobs without requiring supervision and are not glued to a device!!! Some equestrian knowledge would be good (but not necessary) as you will be helping with the daily care of the horses. We are a working farm, so sorry but no pets thanks. We usually only take couples (but have had single helpers before) as you can help each other out on ...

We live on a semi rural farming property of 52ha overlooking the Waitemata harbour with views of Waiheke, Rangitoto and the Skytower, 30 mins south east of Auckland City. We are two minutes from the beach and there are several walks and cycling tracks nearby. We mainly farm sheep and also keep bees. You would be living as part of our family and are welcome to join in with any social events and activities, in particular fishing and boating. We have 3 adult children, and three grandchildren as well as three dogs and a cat. As a family we all enjoy meeting people from different cultures and forging connections with them and now have lifetime friends around the world. You can help us with gardening, landscaping, painting, building bee apiaries, planting natives (Autumn) and general housework and maintenance. It would be for a maximum of 4 hours a day which will leave plenty of time to explore the local area.

Hello, Kia Ora! Our place is located in a unique location next to the Abel Tasman National park in Golden Bay, surrounded by total genuine wilderness with rare beautiful views over Golden Bay and beyond. Check out Google maps "Toto's café pizza" to see where we are. We haven't had any helpers these past years but we decided to give it a go again! We provide food and accommodation in exchange for work in our little café pizza bordering the Abel Tasman park: Toto's café pizza. It is an earth building built by Crian, entirely off grid: we generate our own electricity. We only have a few hours of help needed during the most busy time of the year, around Xmas up to the beginning of February. The ideal time stay would be for 2 weeks, but we can be flexible. We can welcome one or two people. Accommodation is in a little caravan with two single beds so you will have your own private space. Carole is French, and Crian is a Kiwi. We are passionate about alternative lifestyles, foods, cr...

I own a 15 acre lifestyle farm overlooking the sea at Kuaotunu on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. I have 6 Alpacas, 2 cattle, 1 cat and 1 dog. I would like help to care for the gardens, grounds, 2 glamping sites and animals. I offer 3 good meals and morning tea per day, and accommodation in a caravan, in return for 4.5 hours work per day that you are with me. If you wish to work a full day and have a full day off, I will do my best to accommodate that. The property has stunning close views of the sea and islands, a Pa site (a high hill where there was once a fortified Maori village)and is about 10-15 minutes walk down to the beach. Kuaotunu village is very small but is in a beautiful location with a general store and a very cool rustic beach shack style pizza restaurant - Lukes Kitchen - which has excellent wood fired pizzas and other food and often has live music in the summer. There is also a fabulous cafe - Kua Kawhe, with a great selection of food made on the premises - they m...

Kia Ora We live in a lovely historic village of Puhoi, about half an hour north of Auckland . We have been hosting through helpx many years and have had great experiences through the exchange. Our house is a short walk to the village center of Puhoi. Regional parks and beaches are close by. There is the famous Puhoi pub nearby, and the village is on the Te Araroa walkway route. There are other walks and parks nearby to explore in free time. Your own transport is recommended, as there is no public transport into Puhoi. We would like people who are capable, tasks are mainly outdoor work like gardening, cleaning , waterblasting, sanding and painting, and other practical building types of work if you have the skills, as we are completing the renovation of our cottage on our property. We live in a small community on the coast that buffers the Waitakere Ranges regional park. It's quiet, rugged and beautiful with tons to do if you're a hiker, surfer or lover of the great outdoors. Piha is a coastal settlement to the north of Karekare that has a small shop, library, yoga studio and several eateries. to the south is Whatipu, which is the last frontier of coastal Auckland, a long, desolate beach that meets the manukau harbour, its lined with dunes and a saline wetland that hosts many native bird species. The accommodation offered is a small sleepout with bathroom, laundry and kitchen that opens onto a private patio with BBQ. The sleepout is 30 metres from the main house & has its own small garden. there is a bed, all kitchen equipment, a table, clothes storage space, a heated towel rail and internet - see photos. We are on a bush clad 10 acre plot overlooking the beach, about 5 mins drive / 45 mins walk downhill to the ocean. having a car is essential, there is a...

There is a bush area with a stream meandering through. We are newly establishing a spray free orchard, vegetable gardens, and medicinal herb areas. We have a riverside property 10 minutes from the seaside town of Whitianga on the Coromandel peninsula, 2.5 hours drive from Auckland, Hamilton or Tauranga. In the last 5 years we have been establishing a 4 HA orchard, planting avocado and olive trees and we have work available pruning and looking after the young trees, and with harvest, fruit packing and other seasonal orchard tasks. Kia ora, Please can you help bring our garden back to its usual productive state? We have a spray free, suburban garden in Ngaio, Wellington. We have just had a lovely helper assist with concreting, paving, weeding & constructing. It was a great experience & we are looking forward to meeting our next helper. For the next phase, we would like help with some of the following things. *Pots & planters to be re-potted with veggies & herbs. *Successional planting & continual weeding. *Trimming ivy. *Cleaning/staining the fence cap (when the weather is a bit warmer). *Cleaning & painting the pallet furniture. Our preference would be that you are able to help for 4 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 1.00pm, and have the weekends off to explore the area. There is some flexibility but mostly tasks are based around the weather forecast and the priority is gardening. If it's too wet/windy there are alternative cleaning tasks/food prep indoors. If you're only available for 3-4 days that...

We inc...

We are currently available for hosting. People who like dogs would like it here, we have a medium-sized dog called Izzie, she is smart and loves walks and running. My wife and I built our house out ...

Our Place: We live on a 4.5-acre lifestyle property about 20 minutes from Tauranga with a goat, chickens and ducks, and sometimes our horses graze here. There is a bush area with a stream meandering through. We are newly establishing a spray free orchard, vegetable gardens, and medicinal herb areas. Some to harvest for use in our home Natural Health Clinic and dispensary as I (Kim) am a homeopath, medical herbalist, and Bowen practitioner. We are close to Kaimai range bush walks, other local walks, rivers, stunning waterfalls (Omanawa Falls, Mclaren Falls), and swimming areas as well as a beautiful local park with a lake, animal park, lots of bird life and frisbee golf. So there are a few amazing spots for you to explore while you are here. Accommodation and Meals There is a separate cabin from the house for sleeping (queen bed) with an ablution block outside. It suits a couple or 2 friends who don't mind sharing the bed. Sometimes we will prepare meals but being super busy, flexibil...

In addition we are establishing 13 ha of native forest, in the adjoining hills and riverside areas. The Ounuora River (Mill Creek) passes through the property and we have a conservation program for its environs supported by Waikato Regional Council. The native plant establishment work includes nursery work growing and caring for young plants, planting and weed and pest control. We have a newly refurbished self contained cottage on the property available for accomodation. It has a 1 bedroom/lounge/kitchenette suitable for 1 person or a couple, and a separate bathroom with outdoor shower, wood burner, ...
