Need a long term helper starting late June, early July! It’s just my husband and I in this large two-story home, and our pets are very much part of our lives. We have four Chihuahuas and two rescue cats who live indoors. • Pet-Friendly is a Must: You must be comfortable with small dogs and cats, as they are part of the household. • Occasional Pet Sitting: We occasionally need to travel to Wellington for business and may stay overnight. During these times, we would ask our helper to take charge of feeding the dogs and cats and keeping them company. It's a great chance to enjoy the peace of the property on your own! Location & Nearby Attractions While we are a truly rural property with 120 acres of space to explore, we are perfectly positioned for local adventures. • The Homewood Store (Summer Seasonal): Just 10mins away, this is a must-visit during the summer months. It’s a lovely, inviting restaurant that serves as a hub for the community. It features a fantastic local chef who pre...

Looking for Helpers right through busy summer and autumn months. Plenty going on during summer, shearing, stock work, fencing, weed control, garden tidying, lawn mowing, lots of tractor driving etc. It would be great to have some strong keen helpers to help fix fences and do some building work. Our family of 4 (2 kids - 16 & 18 years old) live on a beautiful sheep and beef farm with large woodland garden and organic vegetable garden. We need help with stock work, general farming tasks, gardening, cooking etc. We're 40 minutes from Nelson, 15 minutes from Motueka. It's an idyllic rural setting with excellent access to rivers, mountains, mountain biking, Abel Tasman & Kahurangi National Parks etc. with easy access to some of the best fly fishing rivers in NZ (and the world!) There's 4-6 hours work per day depending on tasks. Plenty of flexibility to work full days and have plenty of time off to explore. Please be aware you may get hot, wet, muddy, dusty and dirty but rest assured ...

Tena koe, nau mai, haramai ki Tokomaru Bay, a small, predominately Maori seaside community on the East Coast. We live on a four acre lifestyle block in the peaceful Kaiawha Valley about a two minute drive from the village and the beach. There is a 4 Square Supermarket, a cafe and a tavern in the village. We have a room with a queen bed in a sleep out, with helpers own separate lounge/kitchenette. Access to washing machine. The bathroom is inside the main house located a few metres away. Most of the work we require is gardening, landscaping, milking cow, feeding animals, preserving food, servicing our Bed and Breakfast (List 1 Historic Places building) firewood, weed eating, mowing and general maintenance. Jan is a teacher and does some casual relieving and Bill works from home developing Te Reo Maori learning resources for our local tribe and teaches Te Reo Maori one day a week. Both of us are involved in our community, at the marae and other activities. We think 'whanau' s...

Hey hey HelpX'ers! 😊 I'm a 31-year-old Kiwi who has spent over five years travelling the world, visiting more than 60 countries and doing HelpX and working holidays in several of them. Those experiences were some of the highlights of my travels, so now it's my turn to return the favour and host! Our farm is a little slice of paradise. We're just 5 minutes from the beach and 5 minutes from town, but tucked away enough to enjoy peace, quiet, beautiful sunsets, and some of the best starry skies you'll ever see. I'm hoping to welcome people who value kindness, respect, good conversation, and enjoying the simple things in life. My goal is to create an easy-going environment where work gets done, but having a great experience together is just as important. The work is a relaxed mix of farm, lifestyle, and general property jobs. We have cattle, chickens, our friendly cat Molly, gardens, an orchard, and there's always something different happening, so no two days are ever the same. I kno...

Kia ora, we extend a warm invitation to host a physically strong, fit and capable couple for approximatelly a week in August/September. Our home is nestled in semi-rural Paremoremo, a mere 10-minute drive from central Albany on Auckland’s North Shore. This area is full of serene natural beauty, enveloped by lush vegetation, and great views of the upper harbour. We are lucky to have an abundance of native birdlife which we marvel at every day. Paremoremo is only about 20 minutes drive away from beautiful white-sand East Coast beaches, which are good for swimming and also sometimes have great surf. Additionally are within an hour's reach of the rugged Waitakere bush ranges and the distinctive black-sand beaches of the West Coast, which offer regular awesome opportunities for surfing and day treks. We are both around 60 so we are slowing down and need help but still very young at heart! Russell has a full-time role as a Project Manager and is keen to help you get started on property-re...

I’m a single mum with shared custody of a wonderful 13 year old daughter, plus a little dog, looking for someone to join us from now and ideally stay for 6 weeks (or even longer). I am self-employed in an import/export business, and have a large house and garden, the care of which get away from me without assistance. The help needed is with day-to-day housework, and gardening. It's not hard, but with a house the size of mine it's too much for a single person with a busy business. Someone who’s a bit handy and could undertake a few little fix-it jobs would be an added bonus. I work full-time, and in the weeks my daughter with me I sometimes need assistance to get her to her various activities, so a full driver's license is required (although I can provide a car). My elderly mum occasionally needs to be driven places as well - she's a fun lady who provides vibrant and lively conversation. Last (but not least) is our dog, Bobbie. She is a gentle and easy member of the household, but...

Starting asap.** A busy 2 hectare block in Earnscleugh/Alexandra NZ that has a small scale plant nursery. We manage the Nursery growing plants that suit our region and are hardy to our environment. This takes up most of our time. We need help with garden and day to day lifestyle block tasks. Plenty to keep one busy with mowing, weeding & tidying. Our Vegetable & Berry gardens are a bit overgrown, & sometimes the seedlings don't make it into the garden on time to grow. We currently have a building project that we need help for. We are happy to teach you nursery tasks such as potting on, growing from seed, cuttings & division. Teddy, Walter & Slinky Bill the cats live in the house too. Sheep and Hens to take care of. We are looking for helpers from the beginning of August and have space for up to five people. We have three small cabins, two with double beds and one with a single bed so room for up to five helpers. All the helpers share a kitchen and bathroom. At the moment we need help with some building work so preference will be given to people who already have some skills with tools.. We are a great place to start or end your time in New Zealand as we are only 45 minutes drive from Auckland airport. The work will be varied and interesting but usually building and garden based. It could include finishing off an underground earth bag hobbit hole. We have a passion for earth building and organic gardening. Its good if you are over the age of 20, are self motivated and can work unsupervised. We are located on Auckland's beautiful West Coast only 40mins drive from Auckland central city. My property is 10 hectares on the West Coast of the South Island, which starts at the coast with sand beach and sunsets and heads inland 1km through native wetlands and forest. Approximately 20km from Westport, 1km from Tauranga Bay! Public transport is limited? I'm a Certified Plumber and Drainlayer by trade but recently retired to work on property (next stage of life!) I have hosted many people through Couchsurfing over the years! Helpx is a new concept for me I purchased the property which was in need of a lot of work to tidy up, contouring/fencing/and planting trees etc. I'm now into planting out and setting up orchard also clearing introduced plants and replanting with natives. Current projects are building a new cottage for myself which is nearly completed and hope to move in by the end of August! and similar 2-bedroom cottage as a guest house which is also nearly completed just doing the final bathroom and kitchen fitout! both will be total off grid power and water supply. We have 360 degree views from the mountains to the sea. We live in a spacious new home. We farm a small fold cattle. Also have cat, chickens. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Timaru is a great base to explore around the south island from. SPECTACULAR views of the Southerm Alps and Mt Cook from this Location, in a tranquil setting off the beaten track 10 min west of Timaru, conveniently positioned midway between the cities of Christchurch and Dunedin. I am a lady farmer running our family farm which is an 80 hectare sheep and beef property, with horses. We have a close country community with my sister and family living nearby, so guests can expect to experience New Zealand rural life. You will live as family in our home with your own bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Duties will be varied and include cooking, housework gardening, help with the animals and general farm duties. There are several horses to be cared for and exercised, if you are a very capable rider, as some of the horses are young. This would suit 2 friends or a couple with their own transport. This is not such a great place if you have allergies. Because I have arthritis my mobility is somewhat limited. We welcome self-motivated adults who will roll up their sleeves and enjoy the tasks. People who like to make a difference and are happy to socialise with us and our friends.

Our home is our little piece of paradise. We look out over the Mahau Sound. There are kayaks so you can explore the Mahau Sound. You will get a wet bottom but the time spent exploring will make that worth while. At night time it is a short walk to see the glow worms sprinkled along the banks at the top of the drive. Your bed is comfortable, the washing machine is there for you to use, and the food is great. Luna will love it if you throw her stick so she can chase it. There is always something to do here. Getting rid of wilding pines is our next main project. Work in our (very) small orchard is ongoing. Weeding, watering, planting, clearing the banks and tracks of fallen leaves and fern fronds etc. On the track to Lone Pine Point we are revitalising the bank and have been planting native plants. We use a lot of firewood during the cooler months so firewood may be on the job list,( if Brian has cut down a tree.) If it is raining then we will organise some inside jobs. Maybe wind...

In July and August we can offer you a warm "home away from home" on 2 acres of gardens in a country setting, just 10 minutes outside Tauranga. It's a bit like Hobbitons Shire meets outdoor gym 😄, as most shrubs and small trees need pruning, wood needs splitting and garden tidy jobs need attention before spring. We have two cats (1 Mainecoon, one moggie hunter), two playful dogs, many fruit trees and lots of much loved outdoor plants, including many NZ native plants. At times we raise our own (friendly) lambs and pigs and do some home processing into hams, bacon etc. Your cottage is mostly just yours, clean and very comfortable 60m2 accommodation separate from the main house with 1 bedroom, a bathroom/shower, own washing machine, a large living area, a nice little kitchen, and wifi. We like 2 people at a time, and for a week or two, depending on work available. You'll definitely want a car to get around. There is always plenty to do with a wide variety of tasks both outside an...

Our home is situated on a 3 acre property north of Christchurch. It is 20 minutes to both the central city and the airport. We are a recently retired couple who enjoy cooking, meeting new people and living a peaceful life! We are looking for help with maintaining the house and garden. Presently this would include trimming, weeding, possibly wood stacking and clearing, and/or some housework, so a good level of fitness would help. The garden is well established with beautiful trees, shrubs, pond and many spaces for quiet reflection. We have one duck and various chooks. We'd like someone (or a couple) to work fours hours a day in exchange for a beautiful, comfortable environment, which includes spa and food. We generally take people for a week - this includes 2 days off. It would be ideal to have a car but we are happy to collect from the airport. We are one hour from the nearest ski field and 15 minutes from the township of Rangiora

This is a certified organic macadamia nut orchard situated on 10ha in the foothills of the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. We can pick helpers up from Swanson train station, which is 6km away. Having your own transport would enable you to explore the beautiful west coast beaches. Bethells Beach/Te Henga is 10km further down the road. Helpers activities are seasonal, and may include harvesting macadamia nuts in winter; processing the nuts; shelter belt maintenance; firewood splitting; weed grubbing and minimal gardening. We work alongside helpers and show you what to do. Please be aware that orchard work is physical, you will get dirty and there could be a few bugs! We request an average of 4 hours help per night stayed in return for food and accommodation. So that is 28 hours per week. However we aim to have a day off each week by working 2 x 6 hour days, or an 8 hour day. We can usually be flexible and also consider our helper's wishes. Work starts at 9am. We have a separate co...

** CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR HELP** Hi, welcome to NZ, and hopefully to Kōpuaranga, Masterton! Our home out of site of other houses, so a rural experience, views and usually a great night sky are guaranteed - yet still only a ten minute drive to our service town of Masterton which has rail links to Wellington. An easy pick up or drop off if you do not have your own vehicle. We are located just a 1.5 hour drive north of Wellington off State Highway 2. Masterton is central to a lot of walks, mountains rivers and coastline and some beach/ surf communities too. We have a river boundary with trout and eels, and it is great for a speedy dip on the hot days before the nature gets too curious! We have now been on this property for 18 months, so much has been achieved with HelpX travel friends, but we are only half way through... Outside we are building bird rearing pens, raising chickens and sheep, and further developing our produce and ornamental gardens. Inside we are wallpaper stripping...

We live in the beautiful Waitetuna Valley, 20 minutes from Raglan village and 25 minutes to Hamilton city. Our neighborhood is rural, made up of farms and lifestyle properties. Our property is 2 hectares, and includes paddocks, orchard, veggie gardens and lawn. Bordering our property is a stream for swimming/playing, and a large nature reserve for hiking. This exchange is for accommodation and food, OR can be for accommodation only if you prefer (with a corresponding reduction of hours). In regard to accommodation, we have a large, modern caravan, containing double-bed, couch and table area (which folds out into a second double-bed if desired), full kitchen (oven, stove, microwave, fridge), ...

Tēnā koutou, We are a French/Algerian/Kiwi family. We moved to the North of the South Island (Te Wai Pounamou) in 2023 and live on a four hectare property where there is lots to be done. Mathew is into agroecology, permaculture and conservation. He has experience running workshops and leading work groups. Rym is interested in Indigenous knowledge, community development and the disruption of the current economic system. We speak French and English at home. You would learn about the NZ rural lifestyle, agroecology and permaculture techniques, food conservation, pest control, and probably lots more. There are a range of tasks to be done, mainly gardening, fencing work, animal care (chickens and sheep) and fire wood cutting/stacking/moving. Possibly some small renovation tasks for those with the right skills. Tasks will depend on the season and what travellers are comfortable doing, as well as what they want to learn. An awesome 2 bedroom settlers cottage, which was built in the 1860s. It ...

Hello wonderful Help-xer's! We have an opportunity for a couple, to come for a week, or two weeks at a time. We are a family of five running a sheep and beef farm in Rissington, just out of Napier. (three children aged 12, 14 and 16) We have comfortable accommodation with your own large King bedroom and bathroom, that would suit an energetic, couple, or one/two motivated people travelling together who are keen to help with our beautiful riverside accommodation whilst learning about our culture and family along the way! You will stay and help cook meals for our family whilst having the opportunity to go out and explore the beautiful Hawkes Bay. We are looking for help with the following; landscaping, weeding, spraying, limbing up trees, spraying down and washing outside of buildings, washing windows, gardening and general maintenance around the property. Your own car would be an advantage. In return for your help, we would love to welcome you into our close-knit family and community ...

If you are also a wwoofer you can find us at wwoof.nz A lovely life sentence block 7km inland from Waiwera where once were the famous Waiwera hot pools until some Russian bastard ruined them. We have two hundred olive trees requiring maintenance, and lots, 25, fruit trees and a garden including food around the house. Adapting to climate change is quite challenging and continuous. It is a nice place to stay. But that should not be your reason to want to come. It is much more enjoyable for a couple who can work together and enjoy the experience and the environment. After nearly twenty months of continuous rain,(it has stopped now) everything is a bit in need of a catch up. You wouldn't believe the weed growth! The damage caused by rotting roots of most of our fruit trees is extraordinary. It all looks very sad. So a lot of remedial work is needed. Mostly spraying and pruning. Here is a quick guide of what we will be doing: Anytime; Adding mulch around all (200) of the trees. January; A...

This is a historic country homestead set in rural Central Hawke’s Bay, on Porangahau Road, surrounded by gardens, mature trees, open farmland, birdsong and big skies. Built in 1853 by the Ormond family, Wallingford is one of Hawke’s Bay’s oldest homesteads and has a wonderfully peaceful, tucked-away feeling — the sort of place where guests arrive down the driveway, exhale, and settle into country life. The homestead is run by Chris and Jeanette Stockdale, former Sydney restaurateurs who swapped city restaurant life for the joy of creating warm, generous hospitality in the country. Chris is an experienced chef with a deep love of seasonal, garden-led and locally sourced food, while Jeanette brings warmth, humour and genuine care to the front of house. Together, they create an experience that is relaxed, welcoming and full of heart. Our homestead has been described by one guest as “possibly the most welcoming place in the world,” which beautifully captures the spirit of the homestead. ...

Kia Ora travellers, we are keen to welcome you to our place. If you have only just arrived and are trying to find your way around then we'd be happy to help you or Ii you are just looking for a little taste of normal Kiwi rural life we would love to host you. We are looking for helpers in early October. Generally we offer about a week's work but if interested there might be a possibility of a longer stay with some housesitting involved. Meg and I are a young couple (in our sixties), our three daughters have now all left home and are living their own independent lives. We love to have young people around. We will make sure to spend some time with you as we enjoy helping with English, while still leaving you plenty of time to yourselves. Kia Ora. I run an Angora goat farm just outside Oxford in North Canterbury. I have 180 very cute goats which I shear for fibre twice per year. I also farm sheep and cattle. I farm in a sustainable way and have been trialling some regenerative agricultural practices. I am looking for helpers starting from early September 2026 Jobs include farm work, gardening, housekeeping, servicing and cleaning my AirBnB and learning about our farming systems. You would have your own room and receive all your food in return for 4-5 hours work per day. Those are the typical Helpx conditions. There are usually other Helpxers at the farm and we work, eat and live as a family , sharing housework and cooking tasks. I look forward to welcoming you to the farm!

We are a large sheep and beef farm situated near Lake Benmore in the Waitaki Valley.  We have two daughters, who are ten and nine years old. We are preferably looking for a couple/s, or two or more friends, who are confident and show initiative. You may be asked to help with daily tasks, paint interiors, load and deliver wood, and help with landscaping and gardening. You would have your own accommodation so that you can have time to yourselves at night to relax. WIFI internet available. If you have a car it would be preferable (although not a necessity), as we would like to give you the opportunity to explore our area in your down time. We are also happy to arrange a pick up if you are using the bus.

*WE ARE CURRENTLY FULLY BOOKED WITH HELPERS UNTIL OCTOBER 2026. WE WOULD PREFER HELPERS WHO HAVE WORKED OUTDOORS PREVIOUSLY* My husband and I have a lifestyle block with dry cattle plus a large number of pets (dogs, parrot, goats, pigs, lizard). We have herb & vegetable gardens and fruit trees. Our house is spacious and helpers have their own cottage. We have a games room and swimming pool. My parents also live in a house on our property. We're a caring, fun family and we live in a wonderful rural community. While we are fairly isolated we usually travel into town several times a week and are happy to assist helpers with transport. Farm work can be fairly strenuous so our helpers need to be able to cope with physical work, but we try to vary the workload. Please note that if you have allergies to grass or pollen our property is definitely not suitable. This season our projects include preparing vegetable gardens, trimming trees, removal of weeds, tidying up gardens & cleaning out an...

Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to Routeburn and Greenstone tracks. You will need your own internet connection as I don't supply wifi. A bit isolated, not for the precious, no trophy hunters!! Please don't apply unless you intend to come for a minimum stay of two weeks. One person only. We do not get involved with internships or visa applications. Vegetarians and vegans would probably not be comfortable as we eat meat daily. I am off grid and totally dependent on solar, so you have to charge your devices during the day and definitely no hairdryers! Accommodation is a house bus in warmer weather or a room in the house in winter, not shared usually. Lastly I also play the guitar (badly) and sing (worse) but it's all about smile not style :-) , please don't come if you have a heavy cold or flu, I'm involved with the elderly. Cheers Al

It ...

Our homestead has been described by one guest as “possibly the most welcoming place in the world,” which beautifully captures the spirit of the homestead. ...

We are preferably looking for a couple/s, or two or more friends, who are confident and show initiative. You may be asked to help with daily tasks, paint interiors, load and deliver wood, and help with landscaping and gardening.

We are into all things NZ, farming, fishing, hunting, camping, conservation and just keeping busy making the most of what comes our way and improving our dairy farm. I have traveled and worked for accommodation in England and loved it so figured we'd give it a go hosting now we have a self contained space for someone/ couple or family. We can offer you a self-contained sleep out with a farm view. That includes a toilet, shower and a basic kitchen setup including fridge, mini oven, stove and extras. Some very basic groceries and provide you with dinner. In exchange for upto 4 hours of work/day/person Mon- Friday. Cheers Al

Our farm is in a remote and magical scenic area of the outer Marlborough Sounds. We have a number of cattle and their calves, hens, our dog Trixie, our cat Elmo, 2 friendly pet sheep, Ivan and Mavis. There are always interesting things that need attending to on the farm and in our vegetable garden. We have many areas of garden and regenerating native bush. Plenty of variety on the projects. We have good beaches and nice walks. Your own transport is the easiest or there is a passenger service from Rai Valley Village. Check out our website if you need public transport and you can message us anytime. GENERAL INFORMATION We grow most of our own vegetables. We make compost and use animal manures as fertilisers. With winter we action a great progressive project to plant and regenerate areas with hundreds of native trees. Creating windbreaks, animal shelter, and native bird habitat. Come and join in on a creative and rewarding project. We generally work 4-5 hours a day. We have clean and ...
