We relocated from Australia to NZ in 2018, therefore our earlier reviews are for our previous location. We are a family of 6, Amber, Richard, our 3 boys Kahlil, Tasman and Jeorgy 14,12&9 and daughter Fern 7. We live in the beautiful Parua bay area and are establishing our farm using permaculture principles and organic methods. Meals are mixed, vegetarian and meat, using all our own organic produce and game of our farm, and will be with us. We are only 15 mins from Whangarei city, and very close to many beautiful walks, beaches, and places of interest. Work is varied, including, gardening, animal care, building, fencing, home help. We also have an onsite woodfired pizzeria and a mobile pizza oven which we take to events and private functions. Accommodation is in a caravan with power and basic cooking facilities. There is a composting toilet. You may use our bathroom in the house also, and the outdoor bath. Thanks for reading, look forward to hearing from you. Please note accommodation...

My property is 10 hectares on the West Coast of the South Island, which starts at the coast with sand beach and sunsets and heads inland 1km through native wetlands and forest. Approximately 20km from Westport, 1km from Tauranga Bay! Public transport is limited? I'm a Certified Plumber and Drainlayer by trade but recently retired to work on property (next stage of life!) I have hosted many people through Couchsurfing over the years! Helpx is a new concept for me I purchased the property which is in need of a lot of work to tidy up, contouring/fencing/and planting trees etc. I'm now into planting out and setting up orchard also clearing introduced plants and replanting with natives. Current projects are building a new cottage for myself which is at the internal painting stage! and similar 2-bedroom cottage as a guest house which is at the internal lining and painting stage! both will be total off grid power and water supply. Next on the list is building a hot house and shade house I'...

We’re on a tranquil lifestyle block in the beautiful historic village of Puhoi. Very handy to Auckland, less than a 40-minute drive to the CBD, but a world away from the hustle and bustle of big cities. The village center is within easy walking distance. It includes the historic Puhoi Pub, a General Store, sports club, kayak hire business, small museum and small café. Puhoi is on the Te Araroa trail and there are numerous bushwalks and beautiful beaches within a short drive. Your own transport is recommended, as there is no public transport in Puhoi. My husband, Richard, and I are nearing retirement and would welcome the right people to help and hopefully enjoy the property as much as we do. We’ve loved our travelling experiences and always enjoy meeting new people and learning about other countries and lifestyles. Free accommodation is offered in our fully self-contained studio/loft above our barn, which is separate to the main house and tenant’s cottage. The barn is super cle...

We live on a semi rural farming property of 52ha overlooking the Waitemata harbour with views of Waiheke, Rangitoto and the Skytower, 30 mins south east of Auckland City. We are two minutes from the beach and there are several walks and cycling tracks nearby. We mainly farm sheep and also keep bees. You would be living as part of our family and are welcome to join in with any social events and activities, in particular fishing and boating. We have 3 adult children, and three grandchildren as well as three dogs and a cat. As a family we all enjoy meeting people from different cultures and forging connections with them and now have lifetime friends around the world. You can help us with gardening, landscaping, painting, building bee apiaries, planting natives (Autumn) and general housework and maintenance. It would be for a maximum of 4 hours a day which will leave plenty of time to explore the local area.

4 bedroom home on about 1 acre situated on the edge of Rotorua (Mt Ngongotaha) overlooking the city and lake. Bus stop within 20m - 10 mins to town. Double bedroom / queen bed available for couples or single room/bed for singles. Need help with gardens mainly. Maybe some painting or building for those so-skilled. Please note most work is outside, physical work; I am interested in motivated, capable helpers over the age of 23 who can use their initiative and experience to get things done well. I have 3 kids, 2 of whom live with me some of the time (aged 14 and 17). Usual arrangement is 4 hrs (genuine) work for each night stayed in exchange for 3 meals and accommodation (internet, laundry etc). There are lots of things to do in Rotorua! I have a double and a single kayak guests are welcome to use. Please see my reviews.

Autumn 25 Thank you for your interest. We are a small family with 2 young school aged children 11 and 12yrs. We have been here on the vineyard for 7 years. This is our primary focus. We are growing a small orchard, our own vegetables and have lots of gardens and lawns to mow! We have olive trees, and 2 cats and dogs. We try to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible My husband and I both have experience in Biodynamic farming at previous work-place employment's. My husband and I did all the work that we could on the vineyard in the first 2 years and then we realised that we weren't having any fun with our children. We joined HELPX 4 summers ago and have had such a good experience with helpers. We are still in touch with some of them since they have returned home. We think it is great for our children to experience different people and cultures. There are other jobs like firewood, and gardening tidy-up jobs that I don't get around to doing myself! We live on the Whangaroa Harbour, half an hour north of Kerikeri. There`s no road to our property. We come and go by boat. We can pick you up from Kaeo or Kerikeri and bring you home, or if you're driving, we will meet you at Ota Point on the harbour. We have kayaks to explore the harbour or to fish from. The fishing is some of the best in New Zealand. Our home is at the water’s edge nestled above the mangroves. The work is mostly gardening and a little housework. Carpenters/builders/people handy with tools are especially needed but all are welcome. Guests are asked to work four hours one day and then three hours the next day and cook an evening meal (we provide ingredients). We relish dishes from elsewhere. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements or serious dislikes. We have internet access available. A week to begin with is ideal. Longer stays often happen from there. We are a busy couple who live on a 10 acre plot of land close to the sea in Northland. Our plot of land allows us to practice self sufficiency with a large vegetable garden, orchard, cattle, sheep, chooks, a dog and cats. Our meals are home grown, or locally caught, we eat what we grow organically. We ask for help in our garden, orchard, general farm and everyday chores, repairs and maintenance both on the land and on the boat. We need 2 people for some tasks so couples or friends are what we prefer. There is a stunning DOC walking track that starts on our boundary and there are lots of beautiful beaches within a 50km radius, and a beautiful surf beach - Taupo Bay 25 minutes away. We also have kayaks for your use. We look forward to hearing from you. Anne and Doug

Hi travellers, welcome to NZ! I found out about helpx from travellers overseas and thought I would try it. We live on a sheep and beef farm 35 minutes east of Masterton, 15 minutes from Riversdale beach and 25 minutes from Castlepoint beach. I live with my partner Mel and daughters Kenzie (3yrs) and Emmie (1yr). WELCOME TO PARADISE GLENORCHY! We are a busy couple working full time and needing help with our property. Based in the spot chosen by the original settling family in the area, we have a really well established garden that needs taming and some quirky buildings that need some TLC. Looking for hardy gardeners, handy DIYers and folks who are keen to just generally get stuck in. We have a great retro caravan, sleep out, outdoor kitchen and bathroom set up that's screaming out for someone, two friends or a couple to bring it to life. At this stage we a only provide breakfast, but could do lunch in some situations. We have heaps of freezer space and suggest you stock up on a few dinners, and drinks in Queenstown before you get here as the local shops are a bit pricey. Spark phone signal is limited to the end of the drive, OneNz works just fine. - free internet available. UPDATE: we need your help now 🙂🙏🏻 please message for more information We live in rural Karangahake on a farm. Karangahake is between Coromandel and Bay of Plenty in Waikato. Lots of beautiful places around here. Why we need your help urgently: After Caroline (the mother of our family) had left Hamilton hospital after a four day stay in Mid July, she also had another 2 day stay at another hospital. She is alright and home. Already resting and healing. Still her recovery will take a few more weeks. We urgently need someone ASAP to take over some of her daily tasks while she can focus on healing and resting. 🧘🏼♀️ Tasks: Most importantly, we will require you to help with cooking and food preparation. If you can cook vegan meals, that's perfect and if not you will help with food preparation and similar instead. You are welcomed to join the meals that you help making. 🙂 Spend some time with our three homeschooled children, preferably outside. ⛹🏼♀️ Some housework if needed. D...

We're a lovely family on Waiheke Island with a big garden built on permaculture principles: native bush, chickens, growing vegetables and two kids running around. We've been hosting Helpx at our place for nearly 10 years! It's a great place to come because you can do a few hours work in the garden in the morning and then spend the rest of the day/evening exploring beautiful Waiheke Island - swimming, kayaking, walking, heading to the beach etc. *August and September 2025 we are looking for helpers to help with the garden, that includes weeding, and gardening in the vegetable garden as well as in our native bush. *If you are the right fit we can accommodate you for 10 days to 2 weeks. *We always start with a 3 day trial. That way if it doesn't work for you or us we can go our separate ways. *You need to be comfortable with children and chickens! *Our preference is a couple or two friends willing to share a room. *We have a spare room in our house for you and we provide food, and coo...

We have a basic but lovely country home located by the Rangitikei River. We are about 25 minutes from the nearest shop in Hunterville as well as our local pub which is located about 10 minutes away. My husband and I have a 2 year old son Joseph and a new baby Makayla born September 2024. We do our best to live off the meat that we hunt and the vegetables we grow. I'm looking for someone to help out with our veggie garden and with general work around the house or with projects that I might be doing at the time of your stay. Our roof is currently in need of some repairs so if you are someone that is interested or has experience in roof repairs then you would be a great fit however if this job wouldn't suit you then there's plenty of other chores to do. You'd be looking at around 4 hours of help per day in exchange for food and accommodation. We live on my husband's parents Deer, Sheep and Beef farm. We have 2 pet dogs and a few working dogs as well as some very friendly pet sheep. Ch...

Welcome to Wentworth Park - our property is an old deer farm in beautiful Te Pahu, about 20minutes from Hamilton, 30minutes to Raglan, at the bottom of Mt Pirongia and on the path of Te Araroa. Our house is a magical 150 year old 2 storey villa that has been relocated onto this site on top of our hill about 50 years ago now. We moved here in 2023 and there is plenty to do to breath new life into our ol' gal and maintain the property. We have approx 25 chickens, 2 little shetlands, and 1 horse as well as 2 indoor dogs. I am originally from Germany (been in NZ for nearly 20 years though) and always happy to help with language barrier. Our household language is English. There is always something going on, with the animals, the children or the house. We are seeking help with: General landscape tidying up around the property Possibly help with timber splitting and chainsawing (experience preferred) Maintaining and installing fencing General gardening Re-vegetation planting...

We've lived overseas for many years, including time in South America, Asia and the Middle East, and returned 15 years ago to start our 'off grid adventure'. Having 'internationalized' it's been time to put some roots down (literally) in a sustainable, creative and co-evolutionary way. These days we're a family of four (kids aged 13 and 10) with 3 dogs/chickens/guinea pigs. We speak some Spanish and a little Japanese and would receive foreigners eagerly (also fellow NZers of course). We're one hour's drive from the nearest towns (Kaitaia and Kerikeri) although a small organic co-op is twenty-five minutes away. Neighbours include a Bee-Keeper and his family, artists, potters and homesteaders, some of whom are open to receiving helpers who may wish to spend more time in the area. People wishing to learn about setting up off-grid so that they can do so themselves would be able to pick up valuable skills at our place. Helpers stay in either a fifteen by eight foot caravan with solar power...

I run a Bed and Breakfast in Kuaotunu, 30 minutes drive from Coromandel town, and 20 minutes from Whitianga. The property has two rooms for guests and is situated in a large garden, across the road from the beach. While you can’t see the beach, you can certainly hear it. The little village of Kuaotunu is close by. I’m currently looking for help principally with gardening--pruning, weeding, hedge trimming and clearing of some areas, possibly mulching, sorting compost bins. If the weather is not good then there will be indoor cleaning jobs(eg kitchen, floors, windows, carpet cleaning, giving guest rooms a good "spring clean"), along with other odd jobs that may present (particularly those that require climbing up a ladder!, or help with my website, social media if that is your thing). You need to be reliable, able to work independently, and be flexible about the work you do—tasks will vary depending on whether guests are present, and the weather. People who take pride in doing ...

Kia ora Helpxers, We invite you to come and be our Helpxer/s and enjoy our wonderful, warm and sunny location with a spectacular view of Tasman Bay. Our place is just 7km from central Nelson. The Nelson Tasman region is a very popular region for travellers, with access to the Abel Tasman National Park being just over an hour away. From our place you can ride the bicycle trail into town, taking about 20 minutes, or there is a bus stop not far away or even better if you have your own transport. We designed and built our passive solar house, constructed from Adobe Earth Blocks, a sustainable eco-friendly method of building. Using local materials such as clay and straw, it keeps everyone cool on the hot days and warm and dry on the coolest. Our preference is to host you for up to one week or more if it suits. We ask for four hours helping out each day but are flexible for longer days, then you may take a day or so off to explore our beautiful region. We have a few projects in progress...

Kia Ora, We are a family of 3. Rich is a chef, Helen is a nurse & our son is 14. Our dog ‘T-Rex’ is an 8 year old Labrador & also have 6 beautiful, rowdy chickens. We have hosted Help X volunteers many times in the past, but we closed our account down at the start of the pandemic & lost our reviews. Our past Help X crew helped us set up our current Air BnB, and came from all around the globe. The space you’ll live in during this winter period is our precious ‘Superhost/guests favourite’ Air BnB space. We are quieter in winter so will work HelpX in around our Air BnB bookings. We’re a busy whānau/family with lots going on in our whare/home. We’re in a residential area, 7kms out of Rotorua central. We’re looking for 1 person or a couple to help with a number of things, but currently working on digging out our chicken run which will take a couple of days. We are aiming to give our chicken run an upgrade & need help with the ground work. You would commit to atleast 1 week, and be o...

Update, possible accommodation available for kiwifruit staff. My caravan is available, not fancy but clean & waterproof. I'm a beekeeper in need of assistance, either with the bees directly or not. I'm located 16km South of Te Puke on a property that has a back boundary of native forest. I'm usually able to host people at any time of year, but am busiest in the spring. I currently have building projects happening, as well as lots of painting, waxing new bee frames, and also hands on beekeeping for anyone who is keen. I also keep sheep and cattle on the property here, and hunt deer and pigs in the forest. These grass and forest fed animals form a large part of the menu here, so vegetarians probably won`t be happy with the diet. I cater to lots of herbivores and they all have hooves or paws. The accommodation is a spare room in the house. The house is a late 1800s villa in need of replacement, but it keeps the weather out and I find it comfortable. Housework isn't high on my priority ...

Closed atm due to sickness. Aim to be open again by end of August 25. Kia Ora travellers! I live alone with my dog, Nala, in a beautiful big and warm house on a 27 acre life style block with native bush and a little creek. I have an organic vegetable garden and orchard growing fresh vegetables, hazelnuts, walnuts and chestnuts. You can also enjoy great views of the Banks Peninsula from here, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s only 1 hour away from Christchurch city and 30 mins from Akaroa, a lovely seaside town with a rich French heritage. I used to be a Tour Guide for overseas tourists, so I know every nook and cranny of the Great Aotearoa. I would be happy to share with you our culture, history and many stories. I also used to host overseas backpackers when living in Christchurch and I always enjoy having company and learning about cultural differences. My property is 10 hectares on the West Coast of the South Island, which starts at the coast with sand beach and sunsets and heads inland 1km through native wetlands and forest. Approximately 20km from Westport, 1km from Tauranga Bay! Public transport is limited? I'm a Certified Plumber and Drainlayer by trade but recently retired to work on property (next stage of life!) We’re on a tranquil lifestyle block in the beautiful historic village of Puhoi.

Carpenters/builders/people handy with tools are especially needed but all are welcome.

We are looking for 2 people to help us. 1 person to look after our daughters and help around the house and the other person to help Alex on the farm. You will have your own room, food supplied, Internet and washing machine. We can pick you up from Masterton. I have travelled a lot and enjoy meeting new people. I think a travelling experience is most enjoyable when a local shows you the local sites, cultures and attractions. I have had many friends, who I have met overseas, visit me and I enjoy being host and enhancing their NZ experience. And when I visit them they do the same for me. Alex, Mel, Kenzie & Emmie

We recommend helpers have there own wheels, as we're 5km outside of Glenorchy. There is however a bike you can use if ...

I am originally from Germany (been in NZ for nearly 20 years though) and always happy to help with language barrier. Our household language is English.
