This is ideal for people who would enjoy the social and cultural buzz of the city within easy walking distance, while also being close to two charming harbour beaches and some great walks. It’s a good arrangement for you if you value your own private space whenever you want it, but also enjoy a stimulating environment. Our comfortable inner city 117year old Victorian villa is a two minute walk to Ponsonby Road. Accommodation is self-contained, and our HelpXers have invariably found it to be an ideal arrangement (see guest room photos). You have your own separate entrance, private garden balcony, generous double bed, kitchenette with microwave, hot plate, toaster and small fridge, dining table/desk, laundry machine and ensuite bathroom/toilet. Free wi-fi (within reason!) Because we’re on an unusually wide section for a city house, we've developed the outdoor space into various "rooms", including a viewing platform in one of our higher trees (ideal for reading or dreaming on a dr...

Just a peaceful place that needs some t.l.c. every once and a while, like gardening, creating and cleaning, cooking depending on the weather. Were a couple and we love to hear about what's happening in the world, from different perspectives.. Were not traveling at present, so this is the next best thing.... having someone in a tiny home, helping, sharing and learning. . .. I love dancing, music, and arts which is included in our home environment. Riding motor bikes, or a little game of table tennis, creating trails, riding on the bicycle trails, hiking, swimming, & watching sun sets. Never boring around here for me, I am in the process of becoming more self sufficient, planted many trees. Created gardens, wanting someone who loves being in nature, needs/wants growing time on there own. I want a caretaker of the land. Also sharing together, I'm going to school this coming year for Feldenkrais (ATM) so I want some one who wants to explore in the back yard of dirt. The more alive our...

We have had people from Singapore, Germany, Canada, Sweden, Australia, Japan, Martinique, Italy, France, Tahiti, Malaysia, Peru, Korea, Taiwan, China, Czech Republic, Argentina, UK, Austria, USA and Catalonia stay with us and always had great fun. We require 4 hrs work from you every day, doing a variety of jobs around the house, the section (garden) and help with the animals. Work involves general housekeeping, help around the house, looking after the chickens, weeding, possibly some fencing and other gardenin...

I have a lifestyle block on Mt Pirongia, near Hamilton & Te Awamutu. Village of Pirongia, Raglan & Waitomo Caves are a short drive as well. Local access to multiple tramps up Pirongia. 2-3 weeks somewhere between May & Nov. 2026. I'm looking for an experienced interior painter - someone who has an attention to detail & takes pride in a job well done. You'd be painting the interior (ceilings, walls, trim & a few cupboards) of my Airbnb (Pirongia Mountain Getaway) while staying in it. I figure there's about a weeks work there, probably a bit less - Its a 65 sqr. meter unit. As soon as painting is done your balance of remaining days is yours to sightsee etc. Helpers will stay in a separate apartment adjacent to the house, with 1 bedroom, queen bed & fully outfitted kitchen with heatpump & access to laundry & home gym. Stay is ideal for a couple or single. Travellers will be responsible for own meals & have their own outfitted kitchen. I travel into Te Awamutu a few times/week so h...

Come experience the stunning views of Te Mata overlooking Whangarei Harbour and Bream Bay. We are looking for helpX volunteers for one or more weeks in exchange for accommodation in a spacious room in the main house, 3 delicious meals a day, and, of course, a great time. Alcohol is available at cost. If we click, long-term stays (until late May 2026) are preferred, just like several of our previous helpers who stayed with us for more than five months! The vacancy is available now. Our 12-hectare lifestyle block is located 20 minutes/km south of Whangarei (15 minutes by car to Bream Bay sandy beaches). It's an oasis of 50% native bush, rest paddocks and subtropical orchards: 60% bananas and a canopy of schizolobium, cherimoyas, papayas, mango, feijoa, and temperate fruits. Not to forget the SACRED GROVE where many events like parties, weddings (Ceremony and Reception) took place. If you're arriving by public transport, we can arrange a pickup in Whangarei. We are ceramic artists who live on our 1 hectare property about 20km inland from the beautiful Doubtless Bay area. We run our pottery business from home and look after our organic gardens, small orchard and numerous chickens. We have traveled widely ourselves and hosted travelers for over 10 years with another organisation, so are interested in HelpX for both the cultural exchanges and to be able to share our lifestyle with others while getting some help around the property. We are looking for enthusiastic helpers for help with things around the property such as gardening, wood collecting, cleaning, painting, general maintenance and other tasks depending on the season. In exchange for 4 hours work a day, 5 days a week we will provide you with all meals, but ask that you join in with the preparation, and accommodation in the funky little cabin with it's own veranda. We will be happy to include you in our lifestyle, maybe you'll be there to go Friday night fishing on our yac...

NB - just in case you don't get to the end of the profile - we are vegetarian (mostly) - and we don't take picky eaters. - or smokers. We are terracing a steep section (with an amazing view), developing a fernery and planting out an orchard and native hedges. There are fantails and keruru in abundance. Though the development is sometimes hard work, it`s creative and fun. We are getting there but we could do with a bit of help from strong fit people whose knees can handle walking up and down a steep garden - usually with a load on.. We also have work repairing and painting garden furniture. We prefer hosting a couple or 2 friends who are keen gardeners - or have carpentry or brick laying skills - to help with garden maintenance. We also have a couple of hard-landscaping projects involving path construction and maintenance. Ideally, we would like people who are able to work with minimal supervision, who take pride in their work and want to do a job well, who are self-motivated, have ...

We are a retired couple and live on a small (2 acre) property about 16km north of Hamilton. While we have adult children and grandchildren in NZ, Ireland and the UK, we also have young adults and a school age child at home. We have hens, a few sheep, a cat and a dog and some gardens and an orchard. We appreciate help with a variety of tasks which include gardening and general property maintenance etc. There could also be trees to prune or wood that needs to be split into firewood. We offer all main meals (we are omnivores) and a separate cabin near the house in return for 4 hours help per day for 5 days (or 20 hours per week) so two full days off per 7 days.. We live 25km from Hamilton city, 4km from local town of Ngaruawahia. The nearby Hakarimata Summit hiking track provides great views over the Waikato valley and hiking and biking trails are close by. Glow worms can be seen in the bush on clear nights and the smaller Paa site on Pukeahua hill provides an easier climb with great v...

Gardening, housework, light mechanical, a bit of hunting, all sorts of things, never boring.A wicked sense of humor is a good asset to bring. handy to routburn and greenstone tracks.you will need your own internet connection as I don't supply wifi. ,a bit isolated, not for the precious,no trophy hunters !! .please don`t apply unless you intend to come for a minimum stay of two weeks. One person only.we do not get involved with internships or visa applications.vegetarians and vegans would probably not be comfortable as we eat meat daily. I am off grid and totally dependent on solar, so you have to charge your devices during the day and definitely no hairdryers ! Accommodation is a house bus in warmer weather or a room in the house in winter, not shared usually. Lastly I also play the guitar ( badly ) and sing ( worse ) ,but it's all about smile not style :-) Cheers Al

Currently have no availability until July. Help on a Vineyard & Family Farm – Awatere Valley, Marlborough We’re a family-run vineyard and hill-country farm, located just 20 minutes south of Blenheim, 3 km from State Highway 1, and 5 minutes from the rural township of Seddon — right in the heart of Marlborough’s scenic Awatere Valley. The property includes a working 40-hectare Sauvignon Blanc vineyard, a hill-country farm, a small orchard, and developing gardens around our off-grid Passivhaus homestead. We're on a journey toward self-sufficiency — growing more of our own food, regenerating parts of the farm with native plants from our own nursery, and installing solar to power our vineyard. We live on the property that’s been in Pip’s family for three generations. Our children’s great-grandparents worked this land. Pip grew up here, and Duncan comes from a farming background in the UK. We have two children (14 and 16), and a lively mix of animals including chickens, pigs, 2 friendly f...

Summer is here and apart from our gorgeous beaches nearby the farm is looking grand and growing. Oamaru, our nearby town is fun and quirky and home to a lot of artists and alternatively thinking people. The farmers market is a grand place to go and feel out the vibe and we can tell you where to view the little blue penguins free of charge. Oh so cute! We are passionate about growing and processing our own food, we love bugs and bees and all our animals and our wonderful community. Soil health and biodiversity are key players for us. We love hearing new ideas and sharing our successes...and failures :) We are a NZ/German family of five (kids aged 10, 13 and 14) who love to travel and love meeting travellers from all over the world. We used to live on a sailing boat when the kids were smaller and sailed to many tropical islands, exploring reefs, tribal life and off grid living. Now we have swapped that life for one on the land, aiming to regenerate our little farm by introducing more ...

Welcome! Your choice: You can exchange two hours help a day for the room only, or you can work for 4 hours a day and we provide meals. We have a private spot close to town here, and are two friendly people, a little dog, and some chickens. Our quiet and green home is in easy and pleasant walking distance of Nelson city centre. It's like being in the country. There is also a bus just steps away, if you want to get into town quickly. This is a good mix - looking after trees, garden, house and each other; making music; preserving fruit, etc We - meaning us two, Ian and Eva - love WWOOFers who enjoy what we are doing, and want to be friendly and part of the family. Eva is a Homoeopath, Ian is an Engineer, we both love to sing, eat, and share good food, and have fun with friendly woofers. The house is surrounded by green hills, with some of Nelson's best bike tracks and walks right next to us. We love cooking and sharing meals. We can talk with you in English, French or German No Smo...

Looking for helpers who can help for a minimum of two weeks, but longer is preferred. You will have your own separate, private, peaceful accommodation, with en-suite, washing machine and kitchen with beautiful views of rural land and Tasman Bay. Wi-Fi, power and water included, plus food allowance. You must be physically strong, hard-working, practical and fit, with plenty of stamina - as well as not being afraid of getting your hands dirty. Beautiful hill country sheep and cattle farm, with views of the sea and mountains. You must enjoy working with animals, be kind, respect and care for them. There is plenty to do all year around and depends on the season. We offer plenty of general farm work experience, including upcoming shearing in early May, gardening, fire-wood splitting, weed-spraying and/or grubbing. There are always fencing and construction projects if this suits you too. The vegetable garden is organic, and I use permaculture methods where possible. Only non-smok...

Your own suite with toilet and shower, kitchenette with fridge, microwave and kettle etc. 25 mins to Kerikeri, Bay of Islands. We ask for 5 hours work a day for accommodation and food. We have an automotive country workshop where we fix and service cars, 4WDs, trailers, tractors and all sorts of machinery. In our spare time we look after our little farm, some sheep, some cattle and rabbits. We also have a forest where we work and tidy up occasionally. So we are always in need of a couple of helpful hands to support us. We love to get to know different cultures and people. We grow our own meat, fruit and vegetables. Gustav also brews his own beer and makes wine and cider and lately also green tea. A mature, non-smoking, self-organized person, preferable not a vegetarian, to give us a hand with house and land, would fit best into our lifestyle. You will have to join into our daily routines: breakfast is at around 7am and then we feed all the animals, especially the hungry dogs and work starts at 8am. We need to get everyone organized before customers arrive in the workshop. We expect about 4 hours work per day and we offer a nice room with a lovely warm bed, gr...

** LOOKING FOR HELPERS APPROX - 28 APRIL - 2 MAY. PLEASE GET IN TOUCH VIA WHATSAPP ** Pete and I are a married couple in our early 30s. We are well-travelled, friendly and love adventures. Pete is a builder and I'm a lawyer/research consultant. We enjoy exploring New Zealand's beautiful backyard - Pete is a keen fisherman, free-diver and surfer and I enjoy open-water long distance swimming. We don't have any pets or kids. Pete lovingly built a new house in the coastal hill suburb of Mt Pleasant a few years ago. It is a two-storey home with a large deck and beautiful views to the hills and estuary. Pete is a keen gardener and we have many house plants! Our house has a bus stop directly across the road and close other coastal suburbs like Redcliffs, Sumner and Lyttelton (10 minutes) as well as Christchurch central (15 minutes). Hi there Traveler We offer a farm stay with great views and good conversation. We chopped down a pine forest and replanted with Manuka about 4 years ago so it’s starting to look really great, and more native birds are about. Established a wetland reserve as well. Also we are developing another small retreat area that needs assistance with tracks and tree management. Some stock work is all so on offer but we will work with you all the time as it’s safer and more fun. cheers and safe travels Geoff and Declan

A week on a peaceful rural property near Omokoroa, Bay of Plenty. We're a family of four living on seven hectares of countryside - kids aged 7 and 10, laying chickens, Guinea fowl, a border terrier, and grazing cows. We work in sustainability and robotics, and love meeting people from around the world. It's a relaxed but active household and we enjoy having someone join us who's up for a bit of everything. Work is four hours a day - gardening, caring for our native plantings, house painting, and general odd jobs. Meals are provided and we eat together in the evenings. You're welcome to take a turn cooking dinner for everyone if you feel like it. After five working days, your last two are free. There's a lap pool and hot tub on the property, a waterfall walk in the Kaimais about 20 minutes away, and surf beaches at Waihi or Mount Maunganui about 30-40 minutes out. Tauranga is 25 minutes if you need a city fix. Sleeping is in our caravan - a cosy double bed, heater, wi-fi, kettle, f...

My husband Matthias and I, Johanna, came from Germany as backpackers in the 1980s. We met here in NZ, but our home language is German. We are a family with eight children, who we home-educated throughout their school years. Three of them are now married, and we have five grandchildren. Five of our now grown-up children are living at home - either still or again - our oldest son with his wife and 4 boys is living in our cottage, and another son with his wife and baby has moved into a smaller house on our property. A friend lives in our housetruck. So life is happening to the full! Sadly, my husband passed away in January 2024 after a short time of intense illness. We miss him much! Our lifestyle block is home to a gaggle of geese, a flock of domestic ducks, around 40 chickens, some sheep and sometimes a few young male goats, - and of course many wild birds, rabbits and the tiny creatures of fields, woods and duck-pond. An old apple, apricot and peach orchard and a young walnut grove ar...

Hi, I am excited to be able to host again! I love living close to nature, co creating with my environment and doing my best to live with awareness. I enjoy simple things like food I have grown, good company, birdsong, swimming in the river, singing... I am an artist/musician and traveller. I like to do yoga and meditation most days. I am always happy to meet other travellers to share knowledge and life experience. As well as English I speak Italian. I now have a puppy living with me so it's helpful if you like dogs. Her name is Leia and she's very cute. I am looking for help on my property which I am developing as a nature retreat. It is a great place to re centre and recharge. It would suit people who are nature lovers who like being off the beaten track. There is no wifi or TV Sending and receiving texts is generally ok Phone reception maybe dependent on your phone or if the gods are happy! I enjoy meeting people from around the world to share knowledge, experiences, work and hope...

Hi there! I live next to the beautiful Waikato river. I am English and have lived here for 18 years. I have two lively children (13 and 17), who I look after every other week. We live in a quirky little house surrounded by native trees, I cook most things from scratch and try to live sustainably. We live is an amazing spot which is only two minutes from the river. Town is a ten minutes walk away. There is use of a spare bike. You will have your own bedroom and space. There is lots to do in the area, with the Tongariro crossing an hour and a half away. We love meeting new people, going tramping (hiking), nature, swimming and being sociable so come and meet us! It is very important to us that you like children and young people! Cleaning and gardening skills are essential, as well as an ability to learn new building skills is a must for this stay.

We live on a small property eight minutes from Kerikeri township. We have a private lake and kayaks are available to explore. We used to run a bed and breakfast here so I guess we can say we dont bite and our place is clean and comfortable. Some animals and chickens on site. Fruit when in season. Having a vehicle to explore for times when you are not working is a must and there is no public transport here. We are meat eaters. We need help now throughout the year. I have some physical limitations and require help to get on top of STUFF. We have many trees that have been felled waiting for splitting with a fuel powered machine, paths needed to be built, gardening, general gardening tools available and I am also building a cottage. Inside work for those wet days include painting, plus preparation, cleaning windows plus other general household tasks. Woodworking/carpentry skills could be an asset. There is a workshop here if you want to pursue a project. A previous couple outfitted th...

**we have availability from SUNDAY 26TH if you're in the area :)*** Accommodation is in the “blueberry cottage,' a self-contained flat that is across the lawn from our house. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen/dining room, computer and wifi. I stock the kitchen with good ingredients and between those and the orchard goodies you assemble your own breakfast. We start at 830 and work for four hours. I make a big lunch at the house for everyone (lots of home made bread and cakes) and the afternoons/evenings are your own. I'll keep the larder stocked with whatever food you like, we don't eat much meat but can supply it. We have bikes for your use and are surrounded by wineries, or there's always a shady tree to nap under. Warning we do have insects, and in the summer picking time can't take helpers who are colourblind. For ease of booking we'd prefer if you can plan on coming and going on Mondays, one week minimum stay. We are a ten minute walk from the bus stop. Here's a littl...

I live in the Hokianga over looking the water to Horeke. This is a 46 hectare dry stock farm with mostly young beef cattle but i also have a couple of milking goats, 6 Alpacas, pigs and two riding horses and have access to a pine forest for riding. I have two working dog, 4 cats and two very friendly very small house dogs. I also have a vegetable garden, enough chickens for nice fresh eggs, home grown bananas and various other fruit if they are in season and ripe. I would like help to tend the vegetable garden, chores on the farm, there is always a great variety of chores. If you like horse riding i am looking for a confident and capable horse rider, your riding abilities and horsemanship need to be of a good standard. I ride on farmland, forest, open ground and some road and you need to not be afraid to ride out on your own. More suited to someone with a background doing fun rides, trails and hunting than schooling as they are not rocking horses. Riding out to keep their fitness...

We have a 1.4 hectare (4-acre) lifestyle block (mini-farm) close to the Hamilton city boundary. Our location is great for day trips to Raglan, Hamilton Gardens, and Hobbiton. For helpers without their own car, there is a bus stop about 15-minutes walk from our house, we might be available to help with a ride to the bus stop, and we drive into town a couple days as week as well. We have horses, goats, chickens, dogs, cats, a rabbit and a pet bird. We are establishing gardens, growing food, following permaculture and organic practices. There is always a wide variety of tasks to suit any helper/s, and the task timeframes are very flexible for weather and sightseeing. Outdoors there is usually some weeding to be done, other garden tasks, maintenance and improvements. Dream projects include building a small greenhouse out of recycled ranchsliders and building some small bridges over the drains. In winter, waterproof footwear is recommended. In summer months we need help with blueberry pick...

Hi, my name is Marianne. I live on a classic New Zealand "tree quarter acre section" on a north facing (all day sun) hobbit hill, looking down to Oamaru. If you arrive early enough at my kitchen window or even up on the jungle hill behind the cottage, you can see the sea and watch the sunrise. A 10 minute stroll down Eden Street gets you either to the CBD or to the shoreline. I am providing three basic meals per day as well as a comfortable and quiet room for your stay and to relax after our daily four hours of working together "out there", somewhere on some befitting project. Currently the main focus is on landscaping, forging a pathway up the hill via carving out soil on one side and adding to the other side, creating little embankment walls in the process. Most of these embankments will be made from recycled Oamaru natural stone, a few with recycled glass bottles. Our white Oamaru sandstone has attracted various sculptors to our town, because it is soft enough to be cut and carved...

We can have a couple or 2 friends that dont mind sharing We are a family-run flower farm growing a wide range of seasonal blooms including roses and lilies. Our flowers are harvested fresh and sold through our on-site farm shop, to local florists, and to wholesale customers, so the farm is always busy and changing with the seasons. As a HelpX helper you’ll be part of our small, hardworking team and experience genuine farm life. Work is hands-on and varies depending on the time of year, but can include picking flowers, bunching, cleaning and preparing blooms, tidying garden beds, weeding, general farm maintenance and helping keep things running smoothly. The work can be physical at times, but it’s rewarding and you’ll see the results of your effort straight away. This is not a resort or retreat — it’s a real working farm — but it’s a warm, friendly environment where helpers are appreciated and treated like part of the team. We value people who are reliable, positive, and willing to giv...

Free wi-fi (within reason!) Just a peaceful place that needs some t.l.c. every once and a while, like gardening, creating and cleaning, cooking depending on the weather.
