Countryside, near Atlántida, Uruguay. We are a couple, not young, work in the city, and live on a small farm. Our farm is not a business, but just a quiet cozy place to live away from the bustle of the city. Our pets are the few horses and dogs from the shelter. We got them in poor condition, with damage (the previous owners mistreated them). We have helped our animals to recover and now they are fine. - Hosting and food free. Accommodation - sea refrigerated container converted into a house. It has a gas stove, shower, washing machine, kitchen, etc. We buy foodstuffs and you cook for yourself. - Benefits: health insurance for the long-stay helpers - Help needed: gardering, animal care, general maintenance, some small DIY projects, farmstay help - We can teach you how to work with horses and dogs, how to take care of the garden, composting and preparation of various soil mixtures, ecological farming, finishing work, carpentry, plumbing, work with electric and gasoline power tool...

This is an Eco Hostel catering mainly for Uruguayan, Argentinian & Brazilian guests, however we have many other international visitors. We are situated about 500m from the beautiful beach of Punta Rubia which joins with La Pedrera beach. The walk to the beach passes some wonderful natural scenery & the bird life is prolific. There are huge sand dunes & big surfing waves. The town of la Pedrera has good night life, shops & bus depot. I need people who can help me in the grounds with keeping the grass cut, weeding. I would like someone who can help with making or maintaining a vegetable garden. Also some painting. Some carpentry would be handy & just general handyman stuff. Come & enjoy our beautiful slice of paradise on the Eastern Atlantic coast of Uruguay!! We are about 3+ hours from Montevideo on the bus.

We are a Uruguayan-Italian couple that are passionate about and work with horses. We do horseback riding, riding lessons and courses related to the equestrian world. We have our own farm and we live here with our horses, which give us a lot of work and many satisfactions. We have traveled through different countries as volunteers knowing and learning about horses and now we have managed to form our own place. We are open to receive other horses' fans who want to share and help us with the day to day in our home and way of life. We have more than 20 horses, the farm with beautiful views few meters from the town of Barra de Valizas (on the beach), many birds and nature and, above all, a lot of practice to do! We offer you to live with us and our horses, learn about their natural behavior in free herds, work and train horses with us in a rational way. Also, Mauro is a veterinarian, so the handling of horses is integral not only training, but also sanitary. We have horses in different stag...

My name is Barbara and I’m looking for help with various things. I live close to Montevideo in a beautiful part of Uruguay, next to a river (2 minutes walk) and not far from the beach (15 minutes walk). I live together with my 9 year old son Sahel in a house which I’ve built myself with help of some volunteers. At the moment we are building two bedrooms, in form of domes and a badroom. I could recieve someone with experience in building, electricity, carpinter, sanitary etc who helps finish off the project. As well as other little tasks that come with having a house and garden. I live in a really nice, quiet and relaxing neighbourhood next to the river Pando. There’s the river and forest very close by and the sea is only 30 minutes walk. The exchange will include food and accommodation for around 5 hours a day. Flexibility with work hours is best. I will be working and studying online most of the day so your help is really appreciated! I like to eat healthy and provide three meals a d...

Are you interested in the concept of food forests on a large scale (47 hectares)? Are you prepared to work hard from 07.00 in the morning until 13.00 each day with a break for brunch (10.00 am) followed by a light lunch when the work is finshed? Volunteers are expected to help prepare, serve, and clean up during meals. This time is not counted as the 5 hours volunteer work. Are you able to eat delicious and healthy food what comes from our garden (we use flour, rice, and purchased items as little as possible)? We are a German couple and we have lived in Uruguay since December 2008. Living with us means adapting to the hard work of a farming family. The advantages are: comfortable accomodation, a family atmosphere, free afternoons and evenings, wifi, access to a nearby town (Atlantida next to the beach), access to domestic animals, a swimming pool, bikes and two horses. Work on this farm starts early. You will help clean the areas where the animals eat and help feed them a...

We are about half an hour from the ocean and fifteen minutes from a pond. There's a small pond close to the house. We need tenacious people that can help us in a responsible way, cleaning up after work, not leaving tools or debris in the field, cleaning after meals and keeping a certain order. We are always open to suggestions and discussions, but we make the final decisions. There are main rutines that can be repetitious and extremely simple. Firing up the oven, gathering firewood, sorting trash and compost, picking manure, pine cones and needles, recycling, feeding cats and dogs, horse and chickens, watering vegetables, weeding and keeping kitchen/dining room clean after cooking. etc. We expect people to get involved in the things that need to be done. Some times there's a lot, some times less. It's okay to smoke outdoors as long as it doesn't ruin work, it isn't a fire danger and filters are not left on the floor. We have experimented growing many things with diverse luck. Now...
