Cleanliness: Someone who takes initiative, always ready to clean up even when it’s not part of your duty, like picking up rubbish when you see it. **Important Notice** Minimum Term: The minimum work period is 2 months. Living in Kyoto, Japan, we are a warm and welcoming family of three who enjoy sharing daily life with people from different cultures. We are looking for a volunteer who would like to join our family. Our hope is for our 6-year-old son to learn English and explore the world through fun, natural conversations and play. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with children and can be like a big sister to him, caring for him with kindness and respect. He is very energetic and loves to talk. If you enjoy playing Minecraft or Mario Kart on the Nintendo Switch, you’ll quickly become good friends with him. We are looking for help with playing with our son and light household tasks. Although I haven’t used this platform since registering, I have hosted many volunteers through another platform. We are still in good contact with them and we maintain positive relationships. We sincerely hope this stay will be relaxing, enjoyable, and a meaningful cultural exchange for ever...

This is not a tourist destination, but a rural village in Shikoku. Hello, my name is Masa. My English is beginner level. This job is not for people who spend all day on their phones, slack off, don't like my poor English, are afraid of bugs, or don't respect local culture. I run an organic farm by myself. I grow delicious vegetables, mainly tomatoes, and eggs. I am always thinking about a rich lifestyle and world peace. This area is blessed with many historic rice terraces and a mountainous environment surrounded by beautiful rivers. It's the perfect environment for nature lovers. Work will involve general farming tasks, such as harvesting and shipping vegetables, washing vegetables, planting seedlings, weeding, and pruning. Please join us for a variety of rural tasks. The work is easy, safe, and you'll learn a lot. Work a maximum of 28 hours a week. Start time is around 7:00-8:00 AM. After work, we'll have lunch together for free. Afternoons are free time. You'll have two days off ...

A room is available for your homestay. Because of the help I would like to ask, mature ladies who have enough experience/knowledge of handling house holding chores and cooking are welcome. No problem if you cannot cook Japanese dishes. Vegetarian is welcome only from summer to autumn. It's easy to talk about next step of your homestay if how long from when, how you can help, what you want to do during homestay in addition to help works are written in your request. I will reply to only applicants who read my profile and understand/satisfy requirements. I'm a 67 years old male living alone and have a small private organic vegetable garden. I am happy if someone can help me to maintain vegetable garden and household chores including cooking. I also can enjoy helping my guest to learn Japanese language. We can visit at sightseeing places/aesthetic landscape when we have free time. At the same time, I'm interested to hear your stories about helpx and learn foreign languages as well ...

Mostly it's morning cleaning of our hostel and rental apartment - some days busy, some days more relaxed. Are you ready for a beautiful time in the mountains? Enjoy the famous castle and mountains around us. Come and enjoy the cleaner air of the mountains. All of the local mountains are easy to access and there are many cultural activities in Matsumoto city. We are a small independent hostel located in the base city for the Japanese Alps. Note that I have been terribly busy for my work and can’t always reply to you sooner. Sorry!! You can WhatsApp me, but please write to me here FIRST about yourself, I will ignore if you WhatsApped me directly because I think it’s a scam. My place will be occupied until the middle of April. My place is NOT a big house. It’s a tiny old house has 4 bedrooms. I’ve hosted some Helpers from this website and some are really nice and some are really weird. :D I travel a lot for my work. I have some occupation. One of them is a tour conductor, so I need someone who can take care of my pets and my son while I’m away. I’m looking for a friendly, helpful, animal lover, non-smoker who can be a good friend to my son who was born in 2008. I can offer you a private room. But please use it properly. Currently accepting helpers for the 2026 farming season! ***Please read the reviews below for an insight into what its really like!!!!*** More about what we do: We grow rice, cherries, apples, peaches, corn, pumpkins, cucumbers and soy-beans on our farm here in Murayama-Shi in the middle of the very beautiful Yamagata Prefecture in the north part of Japan. We grow a premium rice without chemicals and more labour intensive traditional methods which we sell direct to the customer. Our orchards unfortunately are not organic, but we are researching ways to substitute natural sprays. We have also opened a guesthouse and a mochi restaurant! We are a big (crazy) family: 3 generations, 9 people plus some local staff! Apart from my wife and I, my family only speaks Japanese! Everyone is very friendly, but you will definitely need a sense of humour, patience and a willingness to try to communicate. You would eat with the family (traditional Japanese food - so rice for breakfast and lots of...

Next availability: Please inquire Hi there, I’m Leon. Through COVID, I saw how serious not having food self sufficiency could be, and started to think about agriculture. Currently, I work at a strawberry farm, invested in a vegetable farm, and just got started on a yuzu farm. The average age of farmers in Japan is at 69.2 (as of 2024) and is set to worsen. There is a serious lack of young people choosing to do agriculture. Your help will be truly appreciated by the farmers here. I started my learning journey in agriculture through volunteering, so I want to create similar opportunities for others to learn, and hopefully inspire people to choose agriculture. I will try my best to give you a meaningful experience during your time here! Please let me know if you have any other skills you can contribute! Where is this? Himeji city of Hyogo prefecture. Himeji city has a population of ~500k people, and is considered “inaka” or countryside by many Japanese people. You can get away from the ...

※Hello, fellow adventurers! Due to a few recent cancellations, I now have availability from April onward. Winter in Kumihama is a beautiful and quiet season, with snowy scenery, fresh local oysters, and relaxing hot springs. But more than that, it’s a time to enjoy everyday life together — cooking, talking, laughing, and sharing simple moments when we are together at home. I’m happy to welcome social, open-minded, and positive volunteers who enjoy communicating, staying active, and bringing good energy into daily life. This is a shared-life experience rather than just a work exchange. Hello helpers! Thank you for your offers! My name is Joe, I operate a Guesthouse and campground in Chiba prefecture, Japan. I am looking for people to help me run my guesthouse, farming. I would prefer one person or a couple (aged 18-60), foreigners and Japanese people are welcome. The minimum time to stay is 1 week, and the maximum would be 1 month (2 weeks at first, another two weeks if we get along). Some helpers stay one month. In the past I have travelled to different countries and met different people. (Recently almost in Asia. 35yers ago i went… Europe: Spain, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, England, Italy, North/Central America). When I got back to Japan, I decided to create a guesthouse for cultural exchanges, and to be able to travel while being at home. I want my guests and volunteers to share their knowledge with me and for me to show them my traditional life in Japan. I am very open-minded and I would love for you to teach me some of your culture. The guesthouse is 3...

About Us I live with three roommates in a very old house in Toshima Ward, Tokyo. My roommates are Japanese and Nepali, including a queer woman. They enjoy anime, games, and music. Japanese is our common language. I'm an IT engineer who works at home, and they are a voice actor and a student. If you answer all questions of my profile, you have a better chance to be accepted. Room sharing and coming out of the closet are uncommon in Japan. Art Project I offered the wall to a friend who wanted to paint a mural, but some space remained. I then invited artists from around the world—many volunteers have contributed. We don’t have art skills ourselves and don’t participate or suggest designs. The Neighborhood Two stations from Ikebukuro and ~30 minutes from Shinjuku and Shibuya. Quiet residential area with some restaurants and shops. The house is old, poorly ventilated, and in a natural setting. Not suitable for people with asthma or allergies to dust or animals. Looking for people who ca...

The average age of farmers in Japan is close to 70 years old. Many farmers don't have successors, and as they age out, they can no longer work their farmland, leading to the farmland getting abandoned. Also, when they pass on, their precious knowledge will disappear with them too. Food self-sufficiency and security will become a major concern if this trend continues. We are start up farmers, founded in 2024 in order to tackle this growing concern. We will become the next generation of farmers, learning and taking over the reins from the previous generation. We hope you will come and help us, learn about agriculture, and take part in the opportunities to carry on agriculture in Japan. We are located in Awa City of Tokushima Prefecture. Awa City is considered rural Japan. It is quiet and peaceful here, especially at night. There are many shrines, temples and hiking areas. Our members Hide is our main point of contact at the farmhouse. He can speak English too. He will take care of yo...

We're a lo-fi, older style guesthouse with only around 10 rooms. Right on the edge of two of the most interesting historic neighbourhoods of Kyoto! Secluded somewhat in a discreet side street, everything you could otherwise want is at a mere stone's throw away. Our goal is to provide clean and comfortable accommodation for guests visiting Kyoto, as well as providing opportunities to do language/culture/study exchanges. The most common so far has been language exchange. You can help us by maintaining the cleanliness of the facilities, as well as creating any improvements that will hopefully help to enhance the general atmosphere. Creative initiatives are welcome! Hours can be pretty loose and flexible - although we have a default plan of five-hour shifts four times a week. (You also get to sleep in, since business hours are from 12pm to 11pm.) You'll therefore have plenty of time to get to know Kyoto and Kansai (nearby Osaka, Kobe, Nara etc.), and or spend time studying language or wha...

Nice to meet you all, hello! We started accepting helpers in April 2025. We are really looking forward to meeting you! Please note that although we can communicate verbally in simple English without any problems, the following is written in Japanese to reduce the maintenance effort. Please read it after automatic translation into the language of your respective country.

Need a valid international driving permit. The volunteers have use of an automatic car. * * * * My husband and I are Buddhist priests, running a 450 year old Pure Land Buddhist temple in the mountains of Kyushu. My husband is the 17th generation priest of our family temple. We are busy with the temple and our family and need help with gardening, cleaning, cooking, laundry and lots lots more. We have a luxury Lodge for overnight stays and need help with bed making and cleaning. We also want the helper to walk our Labrador dog, who is big, very enthusiastic but is a complete softy. We only have the one dog, who is NOT tied up. He is outside in a dog-run during the day and inside the house at night. If you are nervous around dogs, they can sense that and become nervous too. Our Labrador is absolutely no problem and plays with our young grandchildren. Also, our cats (2) like to hang out, so you need to like cats and dogs. We now also have three toddler grandchildren who love to...

Hello! Happy to host helpers for the spring 2026 season, from early May onwards - welcome to Matsumoto! We also have a small apartment near the famous National Treasure castle. Matsumoto city is a little university city with a chilled-out cosmopolitan student vibe. Delighted if you could volunteer for three weeks or more. Matsumoto is a great base from which to explore lots of history and beautiful nature. We, Shuko from Japan and Brian from Ireland run the hostel like a big family home - which the building was before we found it in 2013. Now ...

Please save the electricity and water. Follow the rule. Please don’t occupy the bathroom too long. (I have only one.) Before you leave, please clean up the room for next helper.

If you like connecting with people, having meaningful conversations, and creating a warm and friendly atmosphere even in winter, I would be very happy to hear from you. Are you seeking a meaningful cultural exchange in Japan? I’m looking for motivated, curious, and open-minded people who are excited to help with our guesthouse and aquafarming projects, while also becoming part of our growing internatio...

Are you passionate about teaching English, cooking, DIY projects, or marketing? If you have skills or interest in any of these areas, we’d love for you to contribute to our project. ABOUT US: Come and experience the beauty of the Japanese countryside in Kagawa, Shikoku. Our project brings together international travelers and locals to create a space for cultural exchange, language learning, and community building. Based in a renovated school building, we are more than just a place to stay—we offer a hub for creativity and connection. Here, you can meet fellow travelers, collaborate with Japanese residents, and contribute to meaningful projects such as DIY renovations, English lessons, community events, and more. Friends can help us as they feel inspired to in the fields and in our home. We have no fixed ideas towards guests. No expect, just respect. Hello! I’m Rie. I live with my husband and two children in a small countryside town near Mt. Aso, Takachiho, and Tsūjun Bridge. Our area is peaceful, surrounded by rivers, mountains, and beautiful nature. We are restoring an old traditional Japanese house into a guesthouse and creating a small community where children and locals can reconnect with nature. We welcome helpers who are interested in housework, light farm work, and renovation projects, and who enjoy learning about Japanese culture and rural life. Work Details: About 2 hours per day, including arrival and departure days. If you need a day off, you can adjust your hours on other days. Tasks may include light cleaning, organizing, some carpentry or gardening, and occasional guesthouse support. We value helpers who can take initiative, notice what needs to be done, and work carefully with a positive attitude. Accommodation & Meals: Accommodation is provided, but meals are not included. The space is shared with our family, so it...
