We live on a 4 acre property, aiming for self-sufficiency. We grow all of our own eggs and meat (chickens, cattle, pigs, sheep), a large vegetable garden, and many fruit trees. We are almost completely organic, but not entirely. Tinker does a lot of preserving with our produce - fruit, vegetables, meat and eggs - using different preserving methods (pickling, pressure canning, water bathing, fermenting, dehydrating). In the winter we do charcuterie/salumi with our farm raised pigs. Ad makes home brew beer, and also likes making sausages, trying new recipes. We are a fit and active couple in our 70s who have recently bought a home (2021) right by the water on Lamb Island in Moreton Bay, 30km from Brisbane. It has great views over the bay and has good access to fishing, crabbing, safe swimming and boating. There is a fast and regular ferry to the mainland that takes 20 minutes. There are also several other islands nearby that can be explored including North Stradbroke Island that has wonderful beaches and walks and lots of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, turtles and dolphin and - from June to October - humpback whales. The views are stunning - the accommodation is lovely and we are running it as holiday accommodation as we move towards turning it into a funky retreat space. We are a group of friends who decided three years ago to restore a beautiful old village/motel in Jindabyne. We are looking for like minded individuals who are passionate about restoration/building and maintenance, love nature and have a good nature and willing to share a laugh over some good food. I live close the train station and bus stop and am a 30 min trip by train to Melbourne City. There is a vehicle to drive locally if are appropriately licensed. You are welcome to use it. I go to the outback in western New South Wales about 3 times a year for the purpose of experiencing the beautiful "timeless land" of Australia and to legally hunt feral animals which endanger our wildlife. We run a small accommodation business consisting of 10 safari style tents and we raise Highland cattle, miniature donkeys, sheep, chickens and 3 horses. Hi you young and beautiful travelers, Bundaberg is a less known touristic town, with a mild climate, beautiful beaches and wonderful surroundings. It is also an agricultural country town with many backpackers hostels . With a bit of lack there might be opportunities for paid work on a farm. It’s only 350km north of Brisbane and easily reachable by train. My home is only a few minutes drive from the town center, yet secluded and peaceful, sitting on 2.5 acres. I am looking for people who would like to visit this promising coastal town and help with general house and backyard maintenance, around 4 -5 hours a day, 6 days a week. The person helping me will have a home away from home and a cosy room to rest in. I am hoping he/she will treat the place with respect and consideration, observing the few requirements related to the use of bathroom and kitchen. Cleaner wanted. I live on a rural property close to town and there is always plenty of work to be done and I could use a hand. At the moment there is lots of cleaning around the house and some gardening. I have 1-2 rooms available. Other things to do include bird watching, crocodile watching. At last count we had 14 fresh water crocodiles. Bush walks. I do tend to do my own thing in the evenings so someone who is somewhat self sufficient would probably be the best fit The property is 20 minutes by car to Darwin so it is a good landing spot to explore Darwin further. For the right people I can offer a day excursion out to a cattle station to fish or ride around in a buggy and see some more of the territory or some other 4wd adventure. This would depend largely on my availability and what I am doing that weekend. Your own transport is better. There is a bus stop about 900m away but the service around Darwin is ok but not great I sometimes have paid work available as well.
