Summer openings for some of August Wow, exploring right outside our backdoor along side the Campbell River on Vancouver Island, is a beautiful place to experience Vancouver Island`s great outdoors this SUMMER with all the wild life right in our back yard :) Although we live on a one acre town lot, our back yard is situated on a cliff over looking an accessible beautiful heritage river, with a nature park setting of ferns, Douglas fir, maple and alder trees. You can often see deer, raccoons, bears and the silver backs of salmon and Steelhead fish jumping in the ebb and flow of the river’s pools. We have trail access to the river below, where you can enjoy listening to the sing song of many birds, tubing down the river/swimming in the heat of the summer, and trying your hand at casting for Steelhead fish. We have been taking volunteers since 1998. We have had people from all over he world staying with us and have made many new friends some of whom we are still in touch with today. People who come here are always taken in as members of the family and that is our strong point. We are an elderly couple who made our living growing plants and selling them in our own garden center in town. Now our daughter single handedly is trying to get a garden center going on our dead end road and is beginning to succeed at it. She could use a strong hand helping her. We aren't really that interested in the ordinary pursuits that most people feel important but rather being in touch with nature and living close to the earth and nature. We live on a farm at the end of a dead end road. Our 165 acre farm gives us a buffer from civilization. Looking for assistance NOW and from late March through summer 26. We moved north from Vancouver to escape the noise and the craziness and to find a spot to live in beauty. We found one and now are on the edge of nothing but more nothing all 400 km to the Pacific. We are 20 km outside of a small town halfway between nowhere and not much. Sharing that is a pleasure. Nearly everything we do now is in support of one thrill: adventures in food. But rural living out here in mid-nowhere means that there are endless other things to be tasked as well: construction, gardening, maintenance of many sorts, enhancing the natural beauty around us. Nous recherchons des bénévoles des maintenant polyvalents et autonomes, idéalement déjà au Canada et pour un séjour de 2 semaines ou plus. Si tu veux rencontrer une équipe de travail sympathique et chaleureuse dans un cadre magnifique, nous serons heureux de te faire découvrir les attraits de notre belle région. Nous demandons 20 heures par semaine pour différentes tâches à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur. Exemples: aide à la réception, jardinage, entretiens, peintures, ménage, divers petit travaux...
